  • @butthenIdied Moron

  • just dw or buy windows and run linux and windows both in 1 pc.

  • @butthenIdied How is it illegal? Explain? A free OS using a free skin pack? I don't see why its illegal?

  • does it work just like xp too? Can you set the classic windows look as well? Thanks for this video!

  • why would you want it to look like xp

  • Thats mint Linux not ubuntu

  • @07734world think about what u just said lmao :P

  • @greenishblob1 ????? I know they are both based on debian, Ima noooooooob plz tell me why im wrong

  • @07734world its the point that theyr practicly the exact same .. and if i remember right mint was built off ubuntu or the other way around idk i dont rlly remember :p

  • @greenishblob1 mint never the less, but they all pwn windows in most things :)

  • @07734world foor suree! :D

  • My question is, who would want to ? !!!

  • i laughed so much, this is amazing. Thanks for the video. It's amazing how quick it runs the script and changes your desktop. Most people at first glance would think you're using XP !

  • what if i really want the windows experience? does it give random errors?

  • @techfighterminal It won't lol.

  • @techfighterminal Make a program that opens randomly and pops up a random error? Then you're getting the error messages without the actual errors! :D

  • So, i did not understand...

You use Windows vista,xp,7,linux mint or ubuntu ?

  • @Sb0yce Linux does take less resources than Windows. Where Compiz Fusion is concerned (Wobbly Windows etc) You can mix and match different settings to suit your system, having too many effects enabled will take up more resources. Luckily in Ubuntu they are easy to disable.

  • @Sb0yce it shouldn't. It just does everything automatically for you. It is possible to do this manually but it takes ages.

  • Hello,

before i saw your vid I didn't think that it is so easy to change Ubuntu 10.10 to XP-look.

Thank you and greetings from germany.

  • How do you make the boxes do that shake thing when you drag 'em around? Tell meh now! lol

  • @SlimySnail44 Compiz on Linux.

  • @SlimySnail44

Hey you go to System/ Preferences/ Appearance and click on Visual Effects and on there you can change them to EXTRA and you will have the shakeable window. This will come with more cool stuff to. You must have a good graphics card or it will not work, your computer will be to slow.

  • thank you

  • it works

  • thnx my ubuntu looks exactly like windows XP just some minor not look alikes :)

  • how can i know the versin of my ubuntu?

and my brother sister and i are using this ubuntu im in just a guest file.. so if i download that only my profile has the effect not on the other profile righht?

  • @GodsRMrocks It shouldn't affect any one's profile other than the one you use it on, I'm not an expert on Linux as I don't use it often enough.

  • What recording software do you use?

  • Nice vid thanks.

  • How do I make windows look like Ubuntu?

  • @DimitriFavaro If you have a look back through my videos you will find a tutorial I made which will make Windows XP look like Ubuntu.

  • hey got a Q: how you make X:exit, -:minimize and box-big, on top left side screen to top right. thank

  • @aataollar Well if your using the latest version of Ubuntu you can get themes (like the one in the video) that will do that automatically.

  • hello illage2 i have a question.

i used to duel boot windows and ubuntu but i stopped using ubuntu because i dident like it.

i installed linux mint on my think pad to test it out and i love it.

(i dont have the think pad any more)

in your ''make linux mint look like windows xp'' video i noticed that you was running linux mint within windows so could you plz tell me how you did that?

    thanks:-)

  • @joshuamyler I used an opensource software package called "Virtual Box".

  • @illage2 thanks that really helped :-)

  • @joshuamyler Which allows you to run an OS inside of an OS. Its mainly used for testing, and shouldn't be used to simulate a full OS.

  • @joshuamyler think pad?

  • @yugiohrox3 lenovo thinkpad

  • my god that was so cool

  • why still run a VM on Win x(

  • why somw want to make linux looks like XP

  • #LOL your using viglance

  • oww fuuuck

  • How do I undo it?

  • @pokebombing It creates an uninstall file in the theme folde, just run it

  • @illage2 ya cuz the theme didnt work

  • would you still be able to use the all the awesome ubuntu effects?

and will you still be able to use multiple desktops?

  • @psion0027 Yeah to all questions. The software just skins ubuntu/linux mint.

  • @psion0027 Awesome my ass

  • windows sucks!

  • i dont understand somthing .... on my moms m1330 dell laptop it runs kde or kubuntu alot better than xfce and gnome im not sure if its because of the intell gma 50 but i would like to know this isnt really a comment as much of a question

  • WinXP is the ugliest operation system ever made(after 95&98), The ubuntu is much cooler than winxp! I don't mean XP sucks, it's just so ugly...

  • @TheNeoCold I couldn't agree more. I wasn't a fan of the "Luna" theme that Windows XP had.

  • I love it! I have an old Gateway solo laptop Running windows 98 SE with a Pentium 2 366 . Would this version run on it?

  • @webman1956 Linux mint should, but you won't be able to use Compiz (The wobbly windows) on it.

  • @webman1956 get linux mint LXDE if you want it to be fast.. and fly :) LXDE is a light weight window manager for older PCS. its under community editions on their site

  • noob!

  • Hmmm if you make it look Windows themed will you get to do Windows Programs? Or do you still have to do Wine?

  • I would assume you'll still have to use Wine. I hope they bring out something better to run Windows applications on Linux as Wine tends to be a buggy for me.

  • im new to ubuntu im downloading it to a virtual machine adnd i hope it works then im going to install this

  • pretty cool.

wouldnt a theme like this work better in KDE than in GNOME?

  • I'm not a fan of KDE due to performance issues, but I suppose it could.

  • @Canape256 Ubuntu or Linux is good for those on a low budget. Typical example of schoolyard bullying going on there.

  • @How do i boot my computer too look like xp ??

  • To those wondering, I am indeed using a virtual machine. I am not allowed to dual boot since it could void the warrenty on the computer. If I could I would, but then again my PC is fine with vista on it.

  • Great way to introduce people like canape256 into Linux. After all, most people use XP only because of how it looks. They don't really know exactly how it works.

  • Indeed.

  • John, you're using a virtual machine right?

  • Indeed I am.

  • Dude this is amazing is there anything that Linux can't do. I am going to fool my stupid cousin. He is so stupid that he will actually think this is xp.

  • Well heavy gaming might be the only thing I can think of, but then again no one has really designed linux for gaming.

  • And why don't you get some REAL sense.

  • @canape256 You know what pisses me off? When people like you come onto someone's video's (who has worked very hard to make them), and insult them. Yes, not everyone can be pleased but what the fuck is the point in coming on here and disrespecting the video. I hope your hard drive breaks and you are left with no choice but to use Linux... Then who wil be gay?!

  • Indeed.

  • this is nice

  • actually the will work on ALL. linux distributions. not just ubuntu/mint. but it worked great on my puppy linux that i have on my PII 300 MHZ 64 MBS RAM computer that i run as a small home server.

  • Oh my goodness, thank you! The moment I realized what this video was I wondered if there was a way of making it work on Puppy, really! So thanks for the confirmation, I think I'm eventually going to do that too. ^ ^ I look forward to people who see my computer thinking me lame for having everything standard XP with no special themes, without realizing how very different my computer really is. Although I also feel kinda lame for wanting Linux nearly exactly like XP, disrespecting it being LInux.

  • Hmmm, I didn't know that. Thanks for sharing that information with us.

  • That's Mint. Not Ubuntu.

  • Mint is based off ubuntu, so what works in ubuntu will also work in mint.

  • its the same as ubuntu. DUH

  • its compatible and based off it. so ubuntu (fixed bugs)= linux mint

  • cool video bro thanks 5 stars

  • Very good man!

  • Awesome! Good tutorial illage!

  • XpGnome.tar.gZED

It ZED not ZEE your english xD

  • ZEE is british english. ZED is north american english. i am an american and i say ZEE.

    Americans say ZEEbra

    Brits say ZEDbra

  • your right. i guess.

  • :P I feel like subscribing to you know XD

  • Yeah, sure is. Good transformation pack since it can be undone at anytime.

  • Sweet! I have windows xp any lol, but still... Do you know where I can get an linux mint iso image? please send me the link, thanks!

  • It's in the description. 2nd Link down.

  • Thanks! Installing to virtual box now 8)

  • Dude, do you think you could add me into the "like me" box on your channel? I make tutorials 8) plz reply

  • Nice dude!

  • thats is sick! (in a good way) awsome is this possible to make it look like vista?

  • @SuperCompTV yes

  • Actually I think it's possible but slightly harder. I'll have a hunt around the internet for it, and if I can find it I'll make a video about it.
