I just spent the last hour or so trying to find this song... I couldn't remember who sang it! But I knew the name and kept coming up with different Midnight Blues. Finally!!!! I am so happy to have found it...brings back many memories of good times past.
Estimated friend, if you want to listen again this song and an endless number of successes of the love I suggest you to visit Radio MUSICA PARA MIMOS - looks for his direction URL in Google ( search Musica para Mimos in Google)-. best romantic music of all the times in Internet, is great, is very good ...!!!
I first heard this back in the 80's and never knew the title or the artists. I just stumbled over it here on YouTube. What a strong and beautiful piece.
Thanks for posting this... My dad loved this song and when I was little he would play it over-and-over again, now he has been gone for 10 Years and I can't ask him about these cool songs.
@1621FRED Yes, he did the instrumental version of this song. We spent years looking for a copy of this song but could never find it. We finally managed to get a copy of it by recording it off the local FM radio station that keeps playing it. We converted it to a computer file and play it often. It is a classic version of a treat song!
Only just found this. Watched it when it was aired on english tv, thought it was brilliant then and still do now. Fantastic voice and the backing is brilliant.
I also re-found this song, has not heard it in about 26 years! I remember being a heartbroken 14 year old who met a girl and then she moved to another town. In darkness of night this was the song that kept me company!
It has been a long time. You left us at a very young age, but I have never forgot you. Many friends have passed on since those days and all of you will be in my heart and thoughts forever. I do miss you my friend...Rest in Peace
@LaurenX2KaylieAmberX wow!! You have a gifted uncle. Give my regards to him. I admire this song since i first heard it in march 2003. sad that the ending is cut off here. a pity. :(
This takes me back way too far. Cannot believe I found it! All I need to do now is download it from somewhere! Any ideas where i-tunes don't seem to have it!
@SlimeTron5000 Actually, this was early in the MTV era (MTV had debuted in the US in 1981). The real problem was there was a big shift in music tastes the year this came out in the US (1983), especially in New York with the debut of Z-100 (WHTZ-FM at 100.3) and the slow flip of WPLJ-FM (95.5) from Rock to Top 40 that left this song behind. Were it re-released now, it probably would be a much bigger hit than the #46 it peaked at in '83.
I have been searching for this song since 1986 after all my tapes were stolen. It just now occured to me that I should try youtube. I love this song and never saw the video until now. Thanks a lot.
What rock will do to the classics. The Trans Siberian orchestra is great at this too!! Louise's and Charlie's CD "Midnight Blue is a classic in itself!!
I've always loved this song. I Loved it when Marilyn McCoo did it, i love this version and I would love to see how Tarja would conquer this song. Thanks for posting this. Great song.
The melody is taken from one of Beethoven's piano concertos. Another popular song of the day, "Stay with me till the morning", borrowed the tune from the 2nd movements of a Mozart clarinet concerto.
If I'm not mistaken Dan Fogelberg borrowed the tune from Tchaikovsky's1812 Overture for his song "Another Auld Lang Syne." If you listen to it, it seems to be the same music without the cannons! lol
I've been thinking about this song for the last 10 years, the melody is amazing, their voices blend so beautifully, it touches my heart every time I hear it. Brings back so many memories, and I just found out my good friend past away, It's for you Rick, we will miss you always, you were one of the best ppl ever born, too bad you left us so prematurely. We love you. RIP
I was 13 and I listened to the radio every night at 12am so I could hear this. Now I write trance music because of this. The guy's voice sent me to heaven . . . and her; I write music now because of you guys. Thanks!
@SWAT2909 The sad thing is that it never got the recognition it really deserved.
Someone should look into getting this song re-released in the US. If it were, I suspect this would be a MUCH bigger hit now than the #46 it peaked at here in 1983.
this song is a total dream - the drum and bass sounds are very haunting, as is the song. louise tucker is a fantastic singer and I maintain will be hard to beat - she is a legend.
hi jaster40. I can almost guarantee you can download it via eMule or something, but if you have the record and you system has an audio out and your PC has a microphone in, audiograbber is free and will capture it for you. hope this helps.
Love this singer. Can't seem to find a CD for less than $40.00 that was looking at her website. I have the record and would love to get it transfer to CD. Any help?
I have been looking for this song for years and years. I remember hearing it (and taping it) from the radio when i was a young girl and have always remembered the words but never heard the song since. I'm sure the one i heard was just a male vocals though. I'm so pleased i have finally found it :)
I helped write that song with Charlie who rented an apartment from me (at the time). GREAT SONG! That's just me speaking and I'm obviously partial to that song. By the way, my wife love's "graveyard angel".
Hanyone ever heard an instrumental version of this? Used to get played on K-LITE, a defunct Seattle easy-listening station. Was extremely similar to these, closer to Michele Torr's French original if not identical - but the lyric lines were replaced by an extremely powerful trumpet or similar horn. Has anyone ever heard this...? I'm starting to think I'm nuts.
There is an instrumental version of Midnight Blue on The Breeze radio (Internet radio from Indiana). It's by Nick Ingman. Maybe it is the one you're referring to.
Thank you so much for posting this. I've never looked for it before because of the memories. My dear mentor and friend, Curtis Mathes had just gotten killed in the "Cleveland" plane crash when this came out. I am able to listen now and think of him in peace. Actually , there is no original " pop " version of this. The music was written by Beethoven . It was one of his sonata's. This band just put words to it
@Peeves888 I think this technically is the original version of this song (as it was recorded in 1982), but as noted by others it actually was taken from Beethoven.
Where did you find this video? The song was hard enough to find but the video of this song had to be almost impossible. Why was the video cut short? ...5* regardless.
Wow this song yes is so haunting and captivating...I often got goose bumps all over my body when I heard it as a young girl , now 36 years young , it still has the same effect what a voice I love it.AAAA++++
Thank you for this video and music. I did not know anyone knew of this album. I have it in storage on LP but did not know if I would hear it again. The entire album is super.
ik had een paar weken geleden de volledige versie gevonden. Nu blijkt het verwijderd te zijn. Waarom? Ik had het graag terug gezien/gehoord. Het is een prachtig liedje.
What a pleasure to hear so many wonderful comments about this song I fell in love with back in the early 1980s. The album, with the same title, is full of beautiful songs, though this one is the best cut. Only for You--also beautiful. Her voice, as clear as Beethoven would have wanted had Pathetique contained lyrics.
Could someone post Tucker's song "Graveyard Angel"? If there is a video for that particular song I think the world deserves to see it. A MAJOR talent!
I agree. In 1986 I was in Venezuela. We went to a house on a mountaintop near Porta La Cruz at 3:00 a.m. to view Comet Kahootek (excuse the spelling). It was pitch black except for candles lining the pathway to the house and, from out of the darkness they had "Graveyard Angel" playing. Very eerie.....but kind of cool.
for those who don't know the full version is on you tube type louise tucker then click on the 4 minute version not the 21/2 minute version probably my favorite song of all time
excelente song... Now many years after hearing this song I´ve notice that the melody is BEETHOVEN´s Pathetique sonata 2º movement!!! It´s amazing what music can do through centuries!!!
If I remember correctly, she lost the rights to her music and only got them back a couple of years ago. You can buy here CD directly from her website. Its well worth the money. I have it on vinyl from many years ago
this is my first time seeing charlie skarbek..too bad he rarely shows on the video.but i feel he is very attractive and handsome..i just can't get rid of my eyes off him....i need a bf like him..from same sex love
In my school years I used to dance with this amaizing song, some songs can get to you. this is one i mean one of my other songs but guess what theres is this one song i Like alot.lol it is there.
one of the greatest song of my time 80's that is. but,
Why Louise Tucker is not famous like Sarah Brightman is beyond my comprehension. I heard this song once in the middle of the night in the mid eighties and thank goodness for the internet, Iw as able to find it. It never left my heart.
Timing is everything, too. She was a few years ahead of her time. It wasn't just that Sarah was married to ALW, she also had the exposure from performing on stage. Louise's airplay was "niche" programming on "beautiful music" stations in the USA. She didn't have the "stage" so-to-speak that Sarah had. They are both unique talents, and it would be nice to hear them perform together.
@JBM425 Also, there was a big shift in music tastes in 1983 thanks particularly in New York to the debut of WHTZ-FM (Z100 at 100.3) and the slow flip of WPLJ-FM (at 95.5) from Rock to Top 40. This song got lost in the shuffle and didn't become a hit (peaking here at #46) because of that. It probably would be a much bigger hit in 2012-'13 if it were re-released as a single as opposed to when it originally came out.
@Whyskerz It was not a hit in the US either when it was released here in the summer of 1983 (peaking at #46 here). The problem to me were major changes in music tastes that were happening in '83 that would become far more noticeable a few years later.
I wish.I've been trying to find it too,in entirty. Try Limewire.sometimes a Radio station plays it.Keep a tape handy,if it comes on,ever.Tape it.that's what i do.thx.cheers!
I just spent the last hour or so trying to find this song... I couldn't remember who sang it! But I knew the name and kept coming up with different Midnight Blues. Finally!!!! I am so happy to have found it...brings back many memories of good times past.

VirgoAlien 4 years ago
Very eerie.....but kind of cool.

excelente song...

Why Louise Tucker is not famous like Sarah Brightman is beyond my comprehension. I heard this song once in the middle of the night in the mid eighties and thank goodness for the internet, Iw as able to find it. It never left my heart.
DancingFalcons 4 years ago 3
It's because Brightman is married to Andrew Lloyd Weber that she gets so much exposure. Louise Tucker is at least as talented.

Brightman looks like one of those comedia del arte masks. Her mascara has a life of it's own.
Louise is amazing.
DancingFalcons 3 years ago
Timing is everything, too. She was a few years ahead of her time. It wasn't just that Sarah was married to ALW, she also had the exposure from performing on stage. Louise's airplay was "niche" programming on "beautiful music" stations in the USA. She didn't have the "stage" so-to-speak that Sarah had. They are both unique talents, and it would be nice to hear them perform together.
JBM425 2 years ago
@JBM425 Also, there was a big shift in music tastes in 1983 thanks particularly in New York to the debut of WHTZ-FM (Z100 at 100.3) and the slow flip of WPLJ-FM (at 95.5) from Rock to Top 40. This song got lost in the shuffle and didn't become a hit (peaking here at #46) because of that. It probably would be a much bigger hit in 2012-'13 if it were re-released as a single as opposed to when it originally came out.

An atmospheric video to complement a glorious song - why this was never a hit in the UK will always be one of Life's Great Unsolved Mysteries...
Whyskerz 4 years ago 2
@Whyskerz It was not a hit in the US either when it was released here in the summer of 1983 (peaking at #46 here). The problem to me were major changes in music tastes that were happening in '83 that would become far more noticeable a few years later.
