  • Can anybody please tell me what does the molestor EXACTLY say in the closet? (From @8:53 to @9.23, he speaks every sentence twice).

  • She kinda looks like Amy Lee towards the end when she's telling him what happened

  • in the beginning it's like he's having a hissy fit and i think it's adorable!

  • why does alan slide back when she gets away to closet land?

  • " we must go to clset land" he says it so seriously, i hav to laugh alittl lol

  • This is so disturbing... Just breathtaking acting...i'm just lost for words...

  • Why isn't anyone commenting on how good Madeline Stowe is in this movie??

  • @daffydilly1 I seriously don't Know why?! Madeleine stowe is just PERFECT in this!

  • AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH 2:05

  • yeah, Alan Rickman is outstanding and absolutely incredible in this, but hello! she's just as good.

  • If Alan weren't in this movie, it would be ok. Having him there, makes it a zillion times better. <3

  • Damn what a twist! ...great fucking movie.

  • DANG IT! Why won't Universal release this as a region 1 DVD!!! DX

  • What an unexpected twist with that guy on sundays!

  • i think without alan rickman in this show no one would watch it withoute alan this show would be a reck

  • @alynabrown Without Alan Rickman♥, it would just be a girl talking 2 thin air

  • So that's what it's all about: a course of psychotherapy for sexually abused children?

please exuse my cynism - can't help it

  • @Carmela1881

I don't think so - I think it is trying to show connections between tyranny, infantilization, and sexual abuse/repression.

  • Madeleine Stowe's performance is incredible in this movie.....I can't see why she hasn't gotten more opportunities to show her skills

  • He is going to get a special part to himself hopefully in the deathly hallows part two, where he shows a considerable amount of emotion. I just can't wait. His acting here has me going crazy wanting to see it.

  • the voice of the molester is different

  • @it is the same voice of when Alan pretended to be the deep-voiced guy who tortured the other guy

  • why do i find it sexy when he slides across the floor ???

  • @britnychole maybe because he's got he legs wide open :D

  • It makes sense that he only lied about being the guy that abused her to break her, but earlier, she says she recognized that guy's voice of the guy who fondled her, and that was actually him... so its really confusing

  • @TotallyTscopeTV she said that she could press charges because she recognized the other man's voice. He(the other man who is in fact Alan) was talking while she was blindfolded. That's what she meant.

  • He didn't get more screen time in the Harry Potter movies simply because when Alan is in the scene, he's all you notice...the *only* thing you notice. He just has a magnetic presence that draws all eyes and ears to him.

  • she's 20 something and his 30 something or 40 ok well he couldn't be her mother's friend no way!

  • I don't think it was him that abused her, I think he was using that to break her, he's not that much older than her.

  • "Here comes the candle to light you to bed

here comes the chopper to chop off your head."

    A 1984 reference.

  • I knew it, I just knew it was him who did it when she was young! =D

  • Freak out moment was.....scary!

  • lol how does he know where everything is? i'd be confused as hell in that room XD

  • ahhhhhh!!!!!! OMG I FRICKIN LOVE THIS PART! SO PSYCHOTIC!!! happy 64th alan, the best actor EVER <3

  • Whoa! The part where Alan slid on the floor was hot!! haha!! Even when he is playing an evil, sickening character he does it brilliantly!! Sigh, love this man sooo sooo much!!

  • I understand how much good acting there is in this film, but it's making me sick, even though they don't show anything. I guess I just have a faint heart =\

  • @Asilentartist And there lies the confusion that I believe is prompting an excess of sympathy for the interrogator. We don't know how much was psychological torture. At the least, (visual evidence) this man has boxed her ears, fed her urine, delivered electric shock and assaulted her. It is suggested (we don't see physical evidence) he smashed a glass in her face, used a hot skewer and a set of pliers on her. Good grief, how Stockholm Syndrome is alive and unwell.

  • Comment removed

  • i know that when you watch this your supposed to feel for the author because she was tortured and all that but i feel more for alan's character.

  • and the question by friedtofuYUM - But wouldnt she recognize him? how many times hav we faced humiliating events in our lives and how many times have we tried until sucession to erase them from our pages of life? some ppl take this a lil 2 far. they might force themselves to forget certain memories (minute details) of an event yet remember something happenin to them. some ppl literally force their minds to forget such incidents completely to perfection. thats the power of human mind.

  • how did he knw the song from her memories? the answer to that may lie dormant in the fact that stowe might have been under psychiatric consultation inoreder to overcome what has affected her. govt do have access to such info. it doesnt however mention her mental state after the abuse. she might have thought that her mother's negligence led her to b a puppet in the hands of strangers who r evaluating her like a specimen. so she could possible have built an imaginary world of closet land.

  • @ainnhana he was the man from her childhood thats how he knew

  • CHILLS! He looks positively divine in this part. I love it. This whole movie has kind of made me want to be trapped in a room with that man... With lots of tomatoes

  • I agree...and remember the odd look he gave when he commented on what a beautiful child she must have been...

  • I dont think you can really go on how old Alan & Madeleine look. The fact is, no age is given to how old their characters are & anything is possible. Certain clues other people have mentioned before me show he could well have abused her. Although it might not have been him, because it looks like he tries to use this new found information to his advantage in the Closet, when there was no mention of it before as if he didnt know. Hes lied his way through the film (smoking etc) But its so ambiguous

  • He definitely WAS teh molestor, it's not just a plan to scare her & break her down, because that tells the reason why he even captured her in the first place! To finish what he's started, like the author guessed. Otherwise why would he have her there??? And how could he have known that song that the author recognized, if he wasn't the molestor?

  • I don't know why, but I have a feeling he is the molester who molested her as a child. I just have this really weird feeling that he is..

  • You know the Interrogator was the one who molested her when she was a child. I've watched the movie 2 times. I didn't notice when I had my 1, but he says that she has changed and a lot more things. Then just look carefully for some details. It's obvious that he has known her before.

  • They are both the same ages, so it would be impossible for him to be the molester. He would at least have to be 15-20 years older, and he doesn't look like he's that much older than her.

  • But sometimes the actors are of the same age but they are parents and children on the screen.

  • But wouldnt she recognize him?

  • He has also changed a lot I think after all these years. So she cant recognize him. But well maybe you're right))

  • At the end she says "you" which makes me think it was him. Oh whatever, Alan Rickman is fantastic. :)

  • "Here comes the candle to light you to bed, here comes the chopper to chop off your head"

Not only is that creepy, it's also - at least in my mind - another reference to 1984.

Or maybe I just like that book way too much.

  • I like the book way too much, too. Don't worry. ;)

  • God, he's an awesome actor. Why he doesn't get more screen time in the Harry Potter films is far beyond me.

  • I think that is because he would take away too much attention from the main characters. He does it all the time...

  • yeah, he always takes the picture from the leading actors in films when he only has a smaller part, e.g. in Robin Hood

  • coz in the beggining he doesnt have a big part in the books, but later...................

  • But they even left parts out of the movies that were in the book. They at least could have kept all those. Who cares if he would have taken too much attention away?!? A lot of people would still watch it, maybe even more (like all the females obsessed with him... me included).

  • "Closet Land" was based on a book? What book?

  • Oh, no. Sorry! I had multiple vids up at the same time, so my camments must have gotten mixed up!

  • This video isn't working... can someone fix it please? I'm in agony unable to continue watching. Help!

  • it's working for me :S

  • Hmm, maybe it's just Youtube.

  • Well... I don´t know what to think... very good psychological film but I don´t wanna see it any more, once was enough.

I know it had to be pretty difficult for Alan to act this guy, because he doesn´t like violence and in Die Hard he had a problem to shoot.

    This movie has something indefinable...

  • I love how people talk about Alan Rickman as if they know him personally.

  • Well, there may be some people who do... or at least his partner Rima :-)

  • I know, really.

  • @MoskvaKalls :D Love that comment, you are absolutely right. I love him, he's an amazing actor - but honestly, some people exaggerate it a bit. :P

  • OMG! ? has she relived memories of her tormentor as a child. her horror was in "closet Land" Alan is psyching her out.

  • I think the interragator feels sorry for her after she tells him she was molested, especially with that look he gives her before he puts the blindfold on her. I think this would make some good fan fiction

  • dude, he's the one who molested her in the first place!

  • that is debateable coz its only implied that i was him but we have no factual evedance to proove it is actualy him who did it. this hole film is a trick to the mind you expect one thing you get another

  • so hott!

  • Alan sings Alan sings!!

  • I don't think the Interrogator was the one who molested her when she was a child. I believe this is part of his mind game. Thank you for the upload.

  • I'm not sure, but seeing as how it was during her mother's literary group, and he was a professor and is always quoting books, I think it's plausible he was.

  • perhaps, if he was the man who molested her then she would recognize him.

  • no because he blindfolded her and changed his voice

  • at the end of this clip he recites the same poem as in Orwell's 1984 before Julia and Winston are discovered

  • yeah he does! thats really interesting
