He is going to get a special part to himself hopefully in the deathly hallows part two, where he shows a considerable amount of emotion. I just can't wait. His acting here has me going crazy wanting to see it.
It makes sense that he only lied about being the guy that abused her to break her, but earlier, she says she recognized that guy's voice of the guy who fondled her, and that was actually him... so its really confusing
@TotallyTscopeTV she said that she could press charges because she recognized the other man's voice. He(the other man who is in fact Alan) was talking while she was blindfolded. That's what she meant.
He didn't get more screen time in the Harry Potter movies simply because when Alan is in the scene, he's all you notice...the *only* thing you notice. He just has a magnetic presence that draws all eyes and ears to him.
Whoa! The part where Alan slid on the floor was hot!! haha!! Even when he is playing an evil, sickening character he does it brilliantly!! Sigh, love this man sooo sooo much!!
I understand how much good acting there is in this film, but it's making me sick, even though they don't show anything. I guess I just have a faint heart =\
@Asilentartist And there lies the confusion that I believe is prompting an excess of sympathy for the interrogator. We don't know how much was psychological torture. At the least, (visual evidence) this man has boxed her ears, fed her urine, delivered electric shock and assaulted her. It is suggested (we don't see physical evidence) he smashed a glass in her face, used a hot skewer and a set of pliers on her. Good grief, how Stockholm Syndrome is alive and unwell.
and the question by friedtofuYUM - But wouldnt she recognize him? how many times hav we faced humiliating events in our lives and how many times have we tried until sucession to erase them from our pages of life? some ppl take this a lil 2 far. they might force themselves to forget certain memories (minute details) of an event yet remember something happenin to them. some ppl literally force their minds to forget such incidents completely to perfection. thats the power of human mind.
how did he knw the song from her memories? the answer to that may lie dormant in the fact that stowe might have been under psychiatric consultation inoreder to overcome what has affected her. govt do have access to such info. it doesnt however mention her mental state after the abuse. she might have thought that her mother's negligence led her to b a puppet in the hands of strangers who r evaluating her like a specimen. so she could possible have built an imaginary world of closet land.
CHILLS! He looks positively divine in this part. I love it. This whole movie has kind of made me want to be trapped in a room with that man... With lots of tomatoes
I dont think you can really go on how old Alan & Madeleine look. The fact is, no age is given to how old their characters are & anything is possible. Certain clues other people have mentioned before me show he could well have abused her. Although it might not have been him, because it looks like he tries to use this new found information to his advantage in the Closet, when there was no mention of it before as if he didnt know. Hes lied his way through the film (smoking etc) But its so ambiguous
He definitely WAS teh molestor, it's not just a plan to scare her & break her down, because that tells the reason why he even captured her in the first place! To finish what he's started, like the author guessed. Otherwise why would he have her there??? And how could he have known that song that the author recognized, if he wasn't the molestor?
You know the Interrogator was the one who molested her when she was a child. I've watched the movie 2 times. I didn't notice when I had my 1, but he says that she has changed and a lot more things. Then just look carefully for some details. It's obvious that he has known her before.
They are both the same ages, so it would be impossible for him to be the molester. He would at least have to be 15-20 years older, and he doesn't look like he's that much older than her.
But they even left parts out of the movies that were in the book. They at least could have kept all those. Who cares if he would have taken too much attention away?!? A lot of people would still watch it, maybe even more (like all the females obsessed with him... me included).
I think the interragator feels sorry for her after she tells him she was molested, especially with that look he gives her before he puts the blindfold on her. I think this would make some good fan fiction
that is debateable coz its only implied that i was him but we have no factual evedance to proove it is actualy him who did it. this hole film is a trick to the mind you expect one thing you get another
I'm not sure, but seeing as how it was during her mother's literary group, and he was a professor and is always quoting books, I think it's plausible he was.
Can anybody please tell me what does the molestor EXACTLY say in the closet? (From @8:53 to @9.23, he speaks every sentence twice).

Well... I don´t know what to think... very good psychological film but I don´t wanna see it any more, once was enough.
I know it had to be pretty difficult for Alan to act this guy, because he doesn´t like violence and in Die Hard he had a problem to shoot.
This movie has something indefinable...
