Every time I have seen Todd his sense of humor is like no other. He knows how to handle the crowd with a good sense of humor even when they are rude and seeking their own recognition.
Just because you have purchased a couple of tickets doesn't mean you get a free pass to be ASSHOLE'S security should have escorted them back to there seats or the exit door!
Todd I welcome your show's to my home town alway's
I just found this quote from him. "It (Ritalin) caused me to crank out songs at an incredible pace. 'I Saw the Light' took me all of 20 minutes. You can see why, too, the rhymes are just moon/June/spoon kind of stuff..."[
Todd you are such a kook, but I still love you. What are you doing with your hair these days? See these are the draw backs to track lay overs, sooner or later the audience is going to want a Live performance. Studio's are so much cleaner, but your talent still shines through. Hats off.....
How can I be in my 50s and just discovering Todd Rundgren? :( Where have I been? Heard this song on the radio the other day and knew I'd heard it before (must be 30 odd years ago). Just ordered greatest hits double album from Amazon as couldn't find anything in HMV - Cant wait to play it!
@Zootysue : I absolutely agree!!! This song, upon getting used to, is starting to really grow on me! First you have to understand that I'm a huge Jellyfish/ Roger Joseph Manning Jr./ Jason Falkner .. fan.. I love this song, groove and all! Nice piano chops as well
@slidenote ...I agree! I don't think the audience is being rude at all, they are just glad to be in the same place as Todd, who they obviously adore, and are trying to connect with him. And he is responding in his naturally friendly way! To the commenters who thought the audience was rude- do you think it's more 'respectful' to stand there listening quietly with no bantering? That would be awkward! I love the banter!
Those two lucky people,I would give just about anything to dance with my wife right there were they are.I wonder if they know how lucky they are,I wonder.
Hi, semi... this me and a mate of mine who were dancing (not my partner). Yes, I felt really lucky. I was a bit surprised by some of the earlier comments but different views = different people... and like slidenote says, this video proves that Todd isn't some arrogant artist who thinks he's beneath his audience. I probably looked a bit of a prick, but the vid says more about his behaviour towards his fans than my behaviour with a few pints of beer down my neck :-)
as always like a todd show,he communicates with everybody, their not rude, their todds crowd,if you ever been to one of his shows you would know that,Todds shows are like no other you have ever seen, but you have to experience at least one in your life,I see him in columbus ohio at least once or twice a year,Todd's God!,I voted for todd in a Nexus flyer once =-D

Yery cool. Shows just how cool and creative Todd is. Can play an an intimate acoustic song, yet full out balls to the wall rock out like Arena. Great video.
This is similar in nature to the "I Saw The Light" version from his "With A Twist" disc, which is laced with bossa nova renditions of his past hits.
Also, this audience sounds very rude. All the yelling out, expecting Todd to answer every single verbal joust or shout ... come on, people, let todd be Todd. Let HIM do the talking.
Todd is sheer genious and as I am terminally ill, he really brings me so much joy. I listen to him every night and and it gives me comfort to hear his voice.
Woah woah woah...I normally would agree that taking old hits and mushing them all over the place into something new does suck but in this particular case, I think it's a great way to play an old classic.
That's called Artistic License. Part of being creative is trying old things in a new way. It may not be better but the original recording is still there to reference.
@yhn1inc: Fine. Release an album of your jazz-inflected self-covers, but people in the audience paid a lot of money to hear songs they love performed by Todd in person. It's rude to the fans to give them this highly-inferior version.
In think the only think you can expect from an artist in a live situation is that they show up and play, unless it says explicitly in the preshow advertisement that they will play this or that song. I guess everyone was aware that this was an acoustic show and that the songs were not gonna sound like on the record.
Thank you Phil!... twas indeedy me. A huge group of us went. The great thing was that it was a last minute opportunity that got me there. Guess it was just meant to happen! Joe Jackson was a really good support act too. Roll on Manchester in November!
The more I watch it, the funnier I think it is. The three front rows weren't offended. Don't worry about it. It was one of those spontaneous things. Did you get to see him at The Academy mate? I was working away and missed it.
I'm actually the woman (ahem)'dancing'there. Get a grip Azreal. I was listening to Todd 20 years before you were born - raised to believe that music and dancing go hand in hand. Todd was a really genial bloke.Did you see him smiling? I did. He said something really nice to me afterwards too. Did you see the audience complaining? Well I didn't! The rest of you... a cautionary tale - don't go to a Todd Gigg with six pints of Guinness down your neck you may find yourself on YouTube!
Beautiful! If this is you in the video, nevermind the pints, you did just fine. A beautiful song, and obviously a wonderful time. I would love to do that with my wife.
@vaughnsalem ...Me too!!!! I've loved Todd since I first heard 'We Gotta Get you a Woman' and will love him forever- once your'e a Todd fan, you're in for life!
I love his control -- he isn't thrown by input from the audience -- he goes with it, he incorporates it -- such great abilities. A master at work for sure.
those bastards. Todd is a genius. I'm 18 years old and most of his work that I have heard was on vinals and done before I was born. Few artists have such depth to their mind as he did. my dad hung out with him for a while and he said he acted like a regular guy. It's hard to believe that he could act this way but to him music is a second language so maybe he doesn't die everytime someone disrespects his work. He might very well not respect his own songs too.
now could you please not spell something just, you know, according to your mood or the alignment of the stars? and for English speakers, oh lucky you, there is even a spellcheck if you right click.
this also shows how cool a dude todd really is. he's funny, engaging, very down to earth to be a genius. he probably made that dancing couple's night if not their week, month, year or life.
I don't know why but I have to say this is one of my favorite TR live show videos. I just love the way he handled things esp. from 2:50-3:15. What a classy guy....
His voice is better than ever, so rich. He seems happier. His eyes used to look so sad. A true genius. PLEASE, play some dates in northern california. PLEASE.
Were those two being totally rude or what? I was hoping the guy in the white t-shirt that walked up to them would escort them to their seats (or somewhere else). :o) I would have been totally ticked off that they did that if I were there enjoying him. This song is one of my favorites. LOVE HIM!!
