my feet and legs are externally rotated and there flat, how do you explain that??? my alignment is always straight. I sit up straight and my butt doesnt stick out. I however never go outside barefoot, so I do think my flat feet are formed from shoewear.
I've always had flat foot since I was born and it is extremely flat. My foot touches the ground all the way. It doesn't hurt until I run and yes I am slow at running. :(
This video was like a breath of fresh air to me. I'm always trying to find out the root causes and the doctors never want to help us find them, they just want to deal with the symptoms and have us on medication for the rest of our lives. You have a new fan!
I wasn't even really too interested in this video, just sort of mildly curious, but it ended up being extremely informative and helpful. I only just now realized certain things I've been doing without really consciously noticing them that have been affecting my body in various negative ways! Thanks Elliott!
to "correct" my flat feet when I was in kindergarten, I danced ballet until 3rd grade and I still have flat feet, but only recently I've became aware that my feet had something different...until my mom actually told me I didn't even realize why all those doctor sessions when I was a kid and the special shoes. But in my case it's got to do with muscle, I think it's worse when it's the bone...and when bone is the problem, you can solve it with surgery I think...
An update: After a week of adjusting my posture, my feet have literally been changing and I have had flat feet for YEARS. The bones in my ankles have been changing and though it is very painful at first (there has been some swelling as well) the muscles on the inside of my calves have been developing where they never were. I've done research on flat footedness and there IS hope for most people. I'm also planning barefoot training in the spring. Elliot, keep it up.
Elliot, I saw this video and immediately tried to stand the way you describe and literally every section you addressed had a bunch of bones POP. I didn't know it but apparently I do have the donald duck posture and as a child I walked with my feet pointed in. I had childhood asthma and am near-sighted. I never had any bowel problems, but I've never REALLY focused on my abs either. I think your approach is the right one: fix the root causes.
Elliot, have to say your approach to problems is great!! Are you familiar with this situation? i have a high arch (what the doctor said)although i figured that on my own.....i have shin splints, so I can't run 5mins of jogging but can play an hour of football(soccer) or boxing training non-stop with no probs, my doctor doesn't rly know whats the problem, I have some inward rotation of the knee but run with an outward pronation :S i have bad eyesight and a tendency of pushing my neck out! Thanks!!
I've been working on my core strength along with doing ballet foot strengthening exercises for my running and it has done wonders. This guy is good because he is taking a holistic approach to the body. I'm subscribing to his site.
thanks a LOT for this video. I have a donald duck posture, and "extreme" flat feet. There might be a link between those two. You have awesome looking quads btw!
@ruffrhyder21213 what you've been told is not always right, sometimes doctors and podiatrists know no more than you learn from 1hr of simple internet research!
you could also get it from your family my dad has flat feet and his dad has flat feet but luckly for me and my dad we dont habe non of these problems nur knee pain
This is the first video i have watched by you. I can honestly say this is going to save my life, you are a genius. I've been trying to fix my flat feet all my life and I desperately need to fix them now because I play cornerback for my high school football team but i'm not fast enough (due to my flat feet) my coach gets really mad that i'm not fast enough and it makes me feel like shit. Thank you so much!
Hm I got a question. I get nauseous when I lay on my left side and it only began happening when I started to jog. It might just be my gastroparesis but I think maybe running weakens those muscles?
I've got insoles in my shoes which have helped put some of an arch in, yet the other issues are still there. My mum doesn't have bad flat feet or posture, and I'm not sure about my dad. You've given me hope bro, much love.
what an extremely informative video. i would have never thought that flat feet were a symptom of something else rather than just an isolated problem.. excellent video, really. : )
Yo Elliot, awesome video. The portion about the atlas bone/forward head posture affecting movement describes one of my clients to the T. Personally, I struggle with an anterior pelvic tilt -- or lower crossed syndrome. I find glute activation works, although one problem I have is that my left glute never really seems to fire on all cylinders, so to speak. I imagine this is due, at least in part, to spraining my left ankle a couple times. Any ideas on how to bring up this imbalance? Thanks!
elliot , its true that sometimes the kinetic chain affects feet the way you say but other times the problem its in the site , kids present this problem a year after they started walking and as you should know the kids only have one mayor spinal curve , the xofisis and lordisis curves also start forming when the kid can stay vertical so i think can have also another ethimology how you say , other thing is as far as i know flat feet doesnt fix after some age , you have tu use feet support for life
I do have a good question. How important is stretching (pre, during, and post)? The only stretches I know are the basics (touch your toes type stuff). Also, would happen to have a sample stretching routine?
Man Elliot I really appreciate this video, this has been an issue pretty much old my life, I didnt knew why my leg strength wasn't evolving ass my upper budy strength, but it was deffinetly because of my flat feet. And hell just like you said I had allergies and teenage depressions that got my neck leaned forward creating all kinds of unbalances, so I'm really thankful for this bro, now let's go squat heavy THX!!!
Wow Elliot you are so talented and educated and such a great guy :) Anyways I got a question for you I was wondering which supplements would you recommend for boosting testosterone naturally. I have used Tribulus, Tongkat Ali, Zma, Arginine Pyroglutamate, Nettle Extract ,HGW etc over the years but I am wondering what you will recommend. I am 33 and I do train heavy , sleep well and eat great. Thanks. Keep up the great work cheers! :)
YES! As you said around 09:39 +, make a YO Elliot or a video about Stiff Necks aka. neck exercises. I, as well as many other, have an "issue" with stiff neck, which may be a result of bad sitting-posture (like at a table) --- chair and table wrong height so it affects shoulder position etc, which again makes a problem on the neck. Also head-ace due to neck-issues... Show some exercises we can do, and how many times a day we should do them in order to improve our lives (regarding the neck issue).
@ss4vegeta1 yea, just your e mail... that way i can send you stuff that pertains to this topic and not bore you with other stuff that I may send to people of other interests... that's why i create so many e mail sign up pages, so that I can serve people with the right information, only the stuff they're interested in.
barefoot running will strengthen your legs and feet aswell as helping your alignment. Look into it, sorted me out! oh and bad posture can just be caused by sitting at a desk etc, don't have to have something wrong with you lol

I think I'm just gonna do everything bro and I'm definitely gonna chime in with results! I'm gonna bench press Elliot when I'm done ha!<~ okay maybe not Elliot but you get what I mean.
@strengthcamp I been battling asthma allergies and poor hearing since I was young. Im basically into boxing and my posture actually benifts my style, or maybe my style is compenasting for my posture? Anyway...I just want to be sharp and I know my feet are setting off a plethora of mechanical issues. First time Ive had someone take this position and it honestly makes more sense than the non repairable solutions provided by docs.
Just wanna say your Yo elliot vids are the absolute truth, and i'll DEFINITELY be one of the people who downloads the "strength geek" stuff cause i love the natural cures, and phisiological side of fitness. btw love the shirts you wear in your vids such as this one. @strengthcamp I guess you could say that it is like his method. No disrespect towards him, he is very passionate about what he does, and for that I respect him. From years of working with patients with postural imbalances, pics make the difference. If you can't measure something you can't manage it.
Elliott I have a ton of questions I want to ask you, but I need to get a hold of a camera first.
