You must have been dissapointed to find out that equipment was replaced at such short notice, personally I like Thai's (new) 747 seating very much but I'm not fond at all of their (old) seats in the 777-300.

It's not much difficult but due to weather conditions around there and that caused of accidents.

Instrument landing system or called "ILS" is offset 1 degree that mean the landing will not land on the center line. It is because there is sea and moutain near the airport (I heard that).

I've heard that Phuket airport can be a tricky airport to fly in and out of due to the mountains etc.

But from this and other landings I've seen on youtube, there doesn't seem to be anything difficult about planes landing here??? Apparently, pilots have special training for this airport.

No mountains. Sea at the western end and small hills and more sea at the eastern end. Can imagine it gets windy though.
