This was the mib,, the ash was supposed to keep him out because this was a meeting place for richard(the only one to ever speak to Jacob) and Jacob, After the mib infiltrated the cabin Jacob stopped using it, ben found out about richard and Jacobs meeting place and attempted to make Locke think he knew everything about jacob and the island, but when Locke was the only one who heard "Jacob"(mib) speak ben became jealous and shot him.

@smokeyhatch14 that is pretty much on the money i think mate! if only you were there in the writing room around S6 to address shit like this. makes perfect sense because they refer to it as his cabin so the fact he wouldn't want ricardos mincing to the statue in case he was followed etc.& the idea that mib got in there...was the ash broken? people say he was trapped untill the ash was broken but he bombing it round on day 1 in the jungle. wish they would go back and put titus or terry in this sc

the mib was mincing about on day one in the jungle so he wasn't held in the cabin. and it wasn't to keep him out coz he was here! and the ash was fully intact!

biggest fan ever of lost by the way. don't think i'm a troll or hater. lost is great story telling. it just seems to me when season 4 was announced and they got the go ahead to end it in 2010, they started to try and wrap up the overall story ark (thousands of year batte of light vs dark).

Holy shit I just figured this thing out. Okay. So. Ben has been communicating with this entity who he thought was Jacob but was some weird spirit thing that was in cahoots with the Man in Black. Richard had knowledge of this entity, and led Ben to believe that this was Jacob.

Ben was actually talking to this entity. Blah blah blah, lets skip forward to The Incident.

Ben lied to John about not knowing wtf happened at the cabin because he knew he was about to get proven wrong.

Desmond could possibly be the guy in the chair but not the one who says "Help me" cause he has an American accent. Maybe Desmond found a way to trap Smokey in the cabin in the past. So this is why Smokey is why Smokey/The man in black is trapped in the ash but can also wander the island... or something. I dunno :P

@edward18517 All we know is that The Man in Black had inhabited the Cabin as Christian, but... there was someone else, too. The Man in Black might have been the man in the chair and was Christian, but both times, someone else was seen with him.

It's just plain freaky.

the man in black couldn't have been the guy originally in the cabin. It had a ring of ash around it back then and the guy that was originally there acted nothing like Jacob, the Man in Black, or Christian.

i 99% believe it is mib cause the fact ben mentions who ever is sititng in the chair hates technology and that when locke waves the flash light the cabin shakes and in the episode the last recruit when zoe passes him the walkie talkie mib looks at it in disgust and violent destroys it.

Very creepy to understand the meaning behind "Help me". That the smoke monster needs the help of Locke and Ben, and many others, to one day kill Jacob and leave the island. Although I'm curious, in Ab Aeterno, MIB tells Richard that the "devil" (Jacob) took his body, and MIB is possibly using someone elses body too. So could the person in the chair be his true form, or possibly the MIB only with longer hair and a beard? Gosh I need answers!

Ben obviously knows what is going on, and that this is in fact jacob and that locke didn't kill his father and thus can't see him (did not make the necessary sacrifice...). The producers just lost it so they made up a stupid explanation to the scence in which Ben is so-called pretending and doesn't know what he's doing, but it is obvious he does, look at him, its not a confused Ben.

It's Jacob's rival. He's manipulated John Locke from the beggining. All those dreams and visions Locke has had led him eventually to his death. In which event the Smoke Monster/Jacob's rival shapeshifted into Locke making Ben believe he had been resurected. Then the Smoke Monster made Ben believe he needed to follow imposter Locke's every instruction. That led to the loophole the smoke monster needed to kill Jacob

@guldynka Can you see when this video it's uploaded? The actor that is in the scene is rob kyker the lost prop master so they didn't know who that will be at the time because we didn't have titus or mark to act! It it says Locke meets Jacob because at the time every1 refers him as Jacob!

jacob is christian sheperd, the reason he appeared so deshuffled in this scene is because he was coming to terms with his drinking and returning to the island.

Chhristian drank in the first place because he thought he'd never get back to the island
