@MrNik1001 The inlet valve is atmospheric and will only open when the exhaust is off the governor so fuel is only drawn in when the engine performs a normal cycle.
How efficient or not are these engines? If you are able to make your own fuel, would it be a viable alternative to being off the grid and generate your own power? Are there modern versions of these built any more? It would seem with the crazy prices now there would be a market for something like this for prepper/self reliant type people.
Superb! Great to see one of these pre 1909 engines running. I saw a Southwell a couple of years ago at the Kingsfold rally but it was a good bit smaller than this one.
@DUNBARPLUMBING Museum has a new camera, old one was a large broadcast camera on a tripod with a laptop as a recorder - we could only do fixed shots with a tripod :-)
@computerfreaq17 The governor holds the exhaust valve open when up to speed then as the engine slows down the valve is released, gets compression, fires, governor holds the exhaust valve opn.......
Imagine this tech in a car for the highway if they made 1 strong enough... can you say 200mpg?

Whoever is doing the camera work is doing better on the video, allowing the viewer to see a lot more.

Glad you think it is an improvement!

So does it fire when the speed gets to a certain point? or is it a certain stroke engine?

With a load on she would run a lot better.
