  • We won't be able to say that we weren't warned:

  • You decide, my friends:

  • FRED THOMPSON FOR PRESIDENT,08"

  • Mr. Edwards,

I'm so excited about your candidacy! If you are elected, I trust your word that you will raise taxes more. Since 50% of my income goes towards taxes already, I'll be better off collecting welfare or I'll file for Soc Security benefits because I get charlie horses + my hemorrhoids have been giving me trouble lately. I certainly won't have to worry about a health ins policy anymore with you in office! I'll have everything I need. Good luck John!

  • Huckbee for El Presidente

  • Support the Troops and vote for Ron Paul. (Don't you all know that Mr. Edwards sent us to war WITH Bush?) (Why, in God's name, would you trust Mr. Edwards again?)

    Ron Paul for Prez.

  • catobear, I will admit that Ron Paul is the best of the Republican candidates. The best thing is to convince them to vote for Ron Paul in the Primary. Democrats will vote for their guy in their own primary. I hate to tell you this, but I don't think that the Republicans will nominate an anti-war candidate.

  • lol998: You have a good sense about you. I was merely trying to persuade Democrats to look at Ron Paul for his anti-war stance, and to question Mr. Edward's inconsistent foreign policy record. In any case, thanks for the response. Good luck.

  • Im south of the border a canuck... but it takes the pres......... to bring the troops home.... He will gain much....

  • Pork for everyone.

  • wow thanks for making all of us in Iowa look like hicks, John.

  • would your name Hawkeye have anything to do with Benjamin Franklin Pierce?

  • no, it means i support the hawkeyes of the university of iowa. I'll probably end up going there next year for college.

  • I remember when the Democrats stopped the funding for the Vietnam war and millions of people died and went to prisons in Vietnam because of their actions.

  • yes, it takes more than stopping the money. Unfortuneatly, our troops aren't getting what they need now. I belive it's possible to protect our vets and still fight to bring them home. Some big business leaders who are profiting from their sacrifices dissagree.

  • "The People" didn't read the bill, it had billions of dollars of pork in it.

  • That was money for haircuts for our service men.

  • yea send it again, and have it vetoed again. Whats the point of that? GO EDWARDS - not in the Senate anymore, cant carry your own state in a general election. And its easy to take cheap shots from the sidelines. Thats just like Bush trying to pass the marriage amendment again after it failed miserably

  • no its a legislative tactic, because there is a timetable where bush will eventually have to sign a bill or the money will run out and he will have to pull the troops out

  • no he still has money for the war, he just needs money to keep it going longer. And there is still funds for the general war, just not for extra equipment. Do you really think Bush is going to just pull the troops out? Thats naive

  • OK, I like it, but talk is cheap. Where was Edwards when it counted?

  • "Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results." Albert Einstein quotes

  • Great work, Sen. Edwards!

  • Come to Florida, John! :)

I want to speak to you about this Yucca Mountain waste site. Why are you supporting this ludicris idea? Please change your mind, & express your opposition. Don't you want your children, to not glow in the dark?!

    Seriously,

    Teresa

  • I believe he does not support it. He did in the past, but I think he has changed his mind.

  • He didn't support it, at first. Then, he had a meeting with one of the yuckity-yucks that want to build it, & decided he was for it. (hmmmmmmmmm.....)

So, if he's against it now, again, then he seems pretty wishy-washy, don't you think?

  • I think he seems like someone who thinks about his positions and doesn't stubbornly stick to something that isn't working.

  • Good point.

  • Or, maybe the check bounced?!

(sorry, had to go there!) :)

  • Bringing the troops home, including the National Guard, will help many governors sleep better. The fastest way to do that is by tieing funding to definite withdrawal, so send the bill back!

  • Great! I'm glad the theme of this ad is being expanded to Iowa.

  • hmmm, you know with a large portion of our National Guard over in Iraq, responding to help our own citizens in the US is being negativly impacted, instead of going further with this thread.
