I had a similar request to a bass cover of a flaming lips song, I basically just repeated "fair use!" at them indefinitely. Aside from the fact that a very quiet version of a track picked up by terrible quality camera mic, with amateur bass playing over the top, is not losing them any sales whatsoever, fair use means that material can be used in an educational context. A video demonstration of a guitar tab (posted mine on UG at the same time) definitely classes as educational usage.
