@Zinaccti Thank you :-) Well, I've been studying the dance almost my whole life ;-) (the one or the other way...). If you want to become a belly dancer, it is very important that you find a good teacher and visit classes regularly. Belly dance is lot more diffcult than most people think and there is a lot to learn not only about the dance, but also about the cultural and musical background. Good luck!
@chryssanthi Such a graceful and fluid dancer you are. I have to say that you did really well. It was great to see you interact with the audience. Great performance! A+
you are great Chryssanthi! I admire your dance and i love your videos! I'd like to study with you, will you come to italy one day? for a stage for example... i love your movements, so graceful and perfect! kisses frome Elena, italy
Mille grazie :-) I will come to Italy to give two workshops and a show at the 29th and 30th of May this year. I'll come to Rovereto. I'll write you a p.m. to tell you more about it. Ciao
Chryssanthi you are one of the best dancers on you tube, i love your videos! i've been studying dance for 4 years but i'd like to study it with you! i love your movements! kisses from italy ^^
Chryssanthi (very poetic name) thanks for your reply. I had a meetup tonight, it was nice. I always have you in my mind, b/c the way you move is natural, sharp or mild enouh to the proper spots. In all of your videos you show a different, unique style, but 'characteristic' and 'recognizable', which proves that Bellydance allows our 'dancing personality' to show up. Plus, I like your "cool" attitude: confidence and smile!
Again, congrats, stay strong and keep (belly) dancing! Vania
Great job! You 'blend' the Arabic and the Greek way in a very nice way. I love your elegance, grace and your 'beat'. Very dynamic and unique. Please, do me a favor : ignore the rude people who can't deal with their complexes. Stay as you are: UNIQUE. Greetings to Frankfurt and to Greece. Vania

My friend from Chile, I'm glad you understood the problem with wiping the sweat off the face :-) You know, performing belly dance is a kind of sport, it takes strength and condition and you really sweat a lot, especially if you dance in a warm place ;-) I'm glad you like my dancing. I wish you all the best and happy dancing :-)
My friend, this here is a live performance of about 30 min.(the video is just the last 10min.) and not a posing for just producing a video. You know what happens, when you perform for 30min. non stop? You sweat!! So I had to wipe the sweat off my face once a while, because it disturbed me. Probably you haven't ever seen a dancer performing live and I suppose you have never performed live yourself (at least not for 30min. non stop). If you ever do, you'll understand what I'm talking about.
My hand in the nose? I don't quite understand what you are talking about. Could it be that you used the wrong English word? And unfortunately I don't understand enough Spanish.Could you please try again to tell me, what you think that is a problem? Thank you.
its a pleasure to see your performance, i like a lot your natural and nice style. Love the real belly dance like you do, salutes your awesome musicians. kisses, you are soooo elegant...
I love your dance, those discreet shimmys are to envy!
Is the drumsolo total improvisation, like youve never heard the song before? Then isnt is hard to react to the beat and make a movement to it? I know bellydancers who improvise for example tabla solos but they are familiar with the song from before.
Dear kattmat, I "grew up" as a dancer with live music ;-) I was lucky to get to know this band I'm performing with on this video, allready at the beginning of my belly dancing career, which was more than 20 years ago, and I got used to improvise with the drums and the music from the very beginning. I never know what drum solo my musicians will play and they also don't know themselves *lol* It is always jam session. I only know the overtüre pieces (like on my other video with band Al Sharq).
Hi Chryss.. i just want congrats u because of this dance, is simply awesome!! i really like u style is so natural and the way u feel the music and enjoy what u r doing is really GREAT, if u can please help me to know or find this music, principally the second one, i would like to improvize one dance for my boyfriend, please help me with it, thanks a lots, and again, CONGRATS!!
Dear Sahydem, thank you very much for your nice comment :-) I would like very much to help you find the music of this video, but it is impossible, because this music is improvised (especially the drum solo). There is only a short part with melody, which is an old Egyptian song, called just "Baladi". It is very famous, maybe you can find it, if you search among the Baladi songs. Happy dancing!
Hi Chirss... u look simple awesome!! i like very much u style, u perfomance, the way u feel the music, is really nice, i wish one day can dance so nice, hey if u could help me to find the music u are dancing the second song principally i would like to improvise something or make one bigginer coreography with that music to dance to my boyfriend, will be very kind of u part, thanks a lot, and honestly, GREAT JOB!!
u dance so nice...i wnated to ask u if u know if this year will be the championship of belly dance and where cause i want to go...i love belly dance so much...i learn it by myself in egypt...i was there2years but i didnt have a teacher...i dance what i saw and how i listen the music...but i did11years of balet and this helps me a lot...i hope we keep in touch.
Thank you very much Chrissanti for your honest advice. I've quiet good job who keep me happy and fit and when it's comes to belly dancing I'll go with flow - next year shows what I'll do - maybe it'll only my hobby, maybe I find audience, I hope I escape eggs and tomatoes throwing at me .LOL. Many thanks - Dorota
U are so kind and this why I've 1 more question 2 U. I've no courage to ask my Tutors(YET). I'm fit more than s-times girls half of my age but I'm 49!!! I would like U ask me from the bottom of your heart:have I got a chance 2 perform (I've done it once in the past)? Can I become proffesional dancer and teacher? Or shall I accept that dance is only my hobby - enjoying classes and workshops only and is too late 4 anything more? Thank U v much - Dorota
Dear Dorota, I will be honest with you. Of course I don't know how you dance and how you look like, but I must say, that it is very very difficult to start a professional career as a belly dancer at the age of 49. If you haven't started with it under the age of 30, the chance that you'll make a profession out of it is very very small. The competition is very hard and most people want to see young girls dancing.
Only very experienced dancers who have been dancing since a young age can still make a living out of it when they get over 40. This doesn't mean though, that you cannot perform. Of course you can, but as hobbyist (as long as there are people who are willing to pay to see you dancing).
It is different with giving classes though. You could do this at any age, but the question is, if you are qualified enough to give classes for all levels and if you could give enough classes to be able to live out of your teaching. In order to be qualified you must have visited yourself classes for at least 5 years and of course it is recommended to have performance experience (although not absoluty necessary).
Now I'm religiously attend my classes, I'm fit more than a girls half of my age but...will so kind and answer 1 more question to me. When I began 2 learn belly dance few years ago I've such a good 'prognosis'from my Tutor that I'm fully able 2 began proffessional belly dancer level and learn how 2 be belly dance teacher.
Watching on UTube all belly dance performances I even didn't know about your existence( how come?) - till maybe 1 month ago. Since I like to watch (and copy ) your movements almost every day. Your fluids and all dance are so feminine, graceful and natural.
BEAUTIFULL!!!!I've learned belly dance for some time doing quite well till stresfull life events made me go off practice, ommit classes, workshops and now I'm facing the same problem what Ranqvi.
Thank you very much Dorotaborsuk. I'm glad you like my dancing :-) Go on exercising and if you cannot visit classes at the moment, just exercise for yourself infront of the mirror. Main thing is that you don't leave the dancing. Good luck:-)
Hi Chryssanthi, I did'nt know about your existance until 3 days ago. Since then I watch your videos every day. I've learned some egyptian belly dance some years ago. I adore greek and arabian music and bellydance; your movements are filled with grace, this is really beautifull ( the other videos too).I would like so much to try the bellydance again, but often I think that maybe I'm too old for this (51).Anyway : thank you for these videos.
Wow, dont ever say that! tamalyn Dallal is older than you are, and she looks great! the oldest i have seen is 64, and she is awesome! Iam sure there are more, dancing does not fit any age. I am 24, I actually enjoywatching older dancers, I can learn more.
when I look at your dance, it makes me wish that I have more curves. You look beautiful and your dance is just so graceful. It was a pleasure to discover your video.
Of course :-) If you go to my account here (just click on my name), you'll find two saidi videos of mine, where I do Raqs el Assaya (cane dance). One is with live music.
I just love your costume, and all of your dancing looks so graceful and effortless. any advise on how to do chest drops? Mine look "forced" and my flutters are never show enough.
Dear Gemini1904. It is very difficult to explain the technique for chest drops in one sentence. You can send me a private message, if you want, I'll try to explain then :-)
Hey Tarik, thanks a lot for your commentary. I think my best dances are anyway when I improvise with improvised live music (double improvisation, haha ;-) ).
watching this clip again, you are a wonderful dancer. I will get to that level of grace and comfort someday. LOL. I just have good technique, no choreography skills though. I guess that will come with classes. thank you for the song advice.
So is the style you are doing now Egyptian? What is the the difference between that and Greek? Please let me know if you have any Greek-style posts. You are a wonderful dancer.
What I am dancing on this clip is Egyptian. The Greek style is different, simpler than the Egyptian. I have some greek clips, I'll try to post one here. The best is, if you just type my name in the youtube search, because then you can see all of my clips (I have 12 with different dances).
I've been dancing for more than 20 years now. I've learned the Greek belly dance called Tsifteteli since my childhood (I am native Greek and grown up in Greece) and the Arabian belly dance in Germany, where I live, from Egyptian teachers.
Dear Gemini. Thank you for your nice commentary. The song that I dance on this video, is unfortunately not available on CD, because it is improvisation. Only a very small part of the song is an old Egyptian song, the bigest part is the inspiration of the moment. The same is true about the drum solo.
