  • American city planning is the worst, the most asocial one in the world. I think the turkish people need to riot if they try to implement this in Turkey.

  • If you want to prevent to people from dying, you need to strengthen the buildings inner city and suburban which people live in, work in.

The main topic for this city is out migration and renewal of the rest urban areas. Turkey need to create new employment options in other cities, need to build new big cities, which are sustainable, yes true Istanbul is the biggest city and it must survive on this role, but geographic form of the city is not suitable for 12 people or much more to live.

  • Urbanization in a conservation area always harm it is natural sources, the city always expands, so the forest near this area is gonna harm in years, and it will loose it's value of nature.

The only aim of this plan is create economic source from earth, how sad the biggest economic value is earth for a country. constructions are the main economic source, so they try to create new economic source, but they don't think about the health of the city and it's citizens.

  • it is really funny, they lie as always they do, they say the cause is earthquake, but this plan contains residential areas for about 2'n half million people, but İstanbul has 12 million people, so we will let 10 million people die.

the plan is awful, no one can make a good, understandable plan from miles miles away. you need to live in the city to plan it.

The area they prefer is away about 30 kilometers from the centre of İstanbul today. It is far far away from the residents of Istanbul

  • People need to understand that we are not doing this plan for entertainment we are ding in the case of a earthquake. Have you ever been to Istanbul? Do you have any idea how narrow the streets are? Also for those who claim most Turkish people cant afford cars, let me tell you that the traffic is one of the biggest problems there..but i think turkey should also spend some money on cities like Izmir, Bursa and Antalya because everybody wants to move to Istanbul and its crowded there

  • İstanbul is not capitol you queers.Turkey's capital is Ankara :D:D:D:

  • the proposal is disgusting. The people involved with clearly have no qualifications to design human settlements and I hope they were not serious about this plan.

  • This is one of the dumbest things proposed for Istanbul. I wonder how much money is being squandered for this and how much fake intellectual credit is taken. Unfortunately there are so many in academia who are going "to sell coal in New Castle" shamelessly.

  • istanbul isnt the capital

    Ankara is...

  • Ridicilous. The "new" city looks like any American city of the day. Ugly, without a soul. Separate areas? You have to do to the other end of the city to get entertainment! This must be a joke. They can not possibly believe that anybody will accept this idea. The least they could have done is made a model that retains the current cultural structure of the city. This is the problem with globalization. IGNORANCE OF THE IMPORTANCE OF CULTURAL DIVERSITY!

  • I completely agree with everything that jankovicjohan wrote. Istanbul and it's spirituality must be contained. All of this is a project to destroy the Islamic architecture and the city's soul.

  • I like it...

I think istanbul will be a beautifull city like New York City too in the next 30 years...

    Istanbul is verrrry nice!

  • istanbul beter than newyorkcity right now

  • this plan sucks like garbage. eeeyuck. seperate areas for work, home and play? that is ridiculous especially in turkiye. people there cant even buy cars. public transit would be choked . why are they trying to it like a crappy american city.

block apartments. we demolish those today. if they are going to rebuild istanbul they better do it right. no one guy should plan it and flavor should be added.

  • Yes it sucks by why aren't the Turkish government or Istanbul Buyuksehir Belediye planning for this? This quake WILL happen and they're not doing anything about it. Turning a blind eye to illegal buildings etc.

  • they cant buy their own cars??? your'e obviously uneducated

  • What I meant is that with a minimum monthly salary of $350, combined with expensive car and gasoline prices in Turkey, an average turkish man will have tremendous difficulties in acquiring a car. Because of this, making a new city car oriented would be incredibly stupid. Especially when the rest of the world is scrambling to make their cities walkable and sustainable.

  • ah i see what you mean now...sorry for my thick skulled comment my friend, i thought you werestereotyping turkey with poor some of the islamic nations...yes but have you seen the traffic in turkey, they dont want to make it casr oriented specifically, they want to make it car friendly...

  • I would also like you to explain to me why you think i am uneducated. This hurts my feelings and just because you can get away with insulting others now, does not mean you will go on with impunity forever. these kind of things hurt your karma and will be used against you on judgement day.

  • The idea of decetralisng the city has been dicussed since the 60's, it is a prerequisite with this threat of a demolishing earthuake the casualities of which must be predicted well above a million. However, such infantile solutions frustrates one. It is infantile and dangerous when one considers the lack of regional urban studies whithout which the existing city will develop to enlarge like a gigantic medusa to get united with this new one...

  • Do not make the mistake many American Cities made in the 50s. My city of Tulsa for instance decided to seperate areas of work, shopping, living. It was a disaster. The city died. Pedestrian friendly streets are no more, the automobile is king. Community found in old cities has been replaced by isolation. Renderings may look nice, but will "live" horribly. The spaces between buildings will cause people to drive everywhere. Seperating work, retail, and living will cause people to drive even more.

  • old fashioned modernism!

  • The idea of building the city in a way that will allow fast evacuation, safer layout of buildings, durable structures and organized land development will minimize the effects of an horrific earthquake, however, Istanbul is a very old city, therefore, i dont see how they will chnage the layout of the city wihtout taking down historical buildings and roads.
