  • Lil Kim nor Nicki can compare to her.

  • Dis bitch is my all time fav female rapper

  • The best rap beef in history!!!!!!!!

  • Wasn't she the first female rapper?

  • @amber442 Well, I remember ShaRock from The Funky Four. I know that was in the late 70's. She was part of a group. If I'm correct she was the only female in that rap group. If you find one sooner, let me know.

  • who was she mad with? UTFO or Full Force? because Full Force wrote but UTFO did the song.

  • Roman's Revenge ain't got nun on this!

  • Buckeye BMX Bike Shop

  • Heyahh sorry 'MegaStrongBlackWoman', Definitely love your comments because Roxanne Shante is absolutely the original and the best but this track was actually recorded in '84 when she was 14... which only makes it that much more impressive how early it was and how phat it is! Love it!

  • why I go with a Kangoo...boo

  • I remember when I first heard this... the year it was released... and I was like... "Oh shit... this chick is HELLA NICE on the mic."

  • This girl was 13 years old in 1987 at the time she recoreded this without practicing. (Basically a Nipsey, but most of ya'll won't know nothin' 'bout that, haha) Before Emenim, Jay-Z, Lil Kim etc... She's one of the Hip Hop Icons. She has class, style and ediquette. Back then female artist where down to earth, down to pound and stylish, not trashy. Glad to run into this, brought back great memories. Thanks

  • @MegaStrongBlackWoman good comment. acutally, this came out in 84. she was 14.

  • @hundredthough Thank you for the correction. Dang! Now I REALLY feel old!! Hahaha!

  • she sounds like she was spittin of the top the entire track

  • @brajames1 Their song wasn't even about her but she took it that way

  • roxanne roxanne i wha be yuh man

  • Its still good to see that Roxanne Shante (or should I say Dr. Roxanne Shante) is still doing well outside the music industry. Today she has a doctorate degree from Brown University in Psychology. She has an office in Brooklyn somewhere. Not bad for a 40 something ex-rapper!

  • the roxxanne wars, the bridge wars, nas vs. jay z, death row vs. bad boy, eazy vs. dre, kool moe dee vs. busy bee, kool moe dee vs ll cool j = real beefs

what the fuck is this nicki minaj shit about, some bitch who blatently stole kims style, kim blatently stole that style from either or the roxannes so wtf

  • @PS3xMedia When did either of the Roxanne's call themselves "Black Barbie" or rock that whole sexy designer look like Kim did??

    I'll wait....

Oh and by the way their beef goes beyond wigs & style keep up.

  • she ugllly as fuck loll but this is the jam

  • @kbouldin1 all end of the day they are all bad bitches stop haten boo booo

  • everyone is dissing nicki minaj because she can freestyle for shit, but most of roxanne shante's song were freestyles, displaying her awesomeness

  • diisz shiit isz waviiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii

  • And this is why she got preg at 14,.,,

I LVOE THIS SONG THO LOL

  • Yes she was 14. and she also had a baby when she was 14

  • I used to walk down the street back in 85 blastin this song on my ghetto blaster over and over!

  • yess yess

  • SUBSCRBE EVRYONE PLZ

  • Uhm why are you people comparing Nicky Minaj to Roxanne Shante....????

I mean... this is from another era.....in rap music..

  • @Aniel26 Thank you!!!! Things were soooo different back then!!

  • This is real hip hop!!!

  • Why is everyone bad mouthing Nicki Minaj? She's the shizzzzit.

  • SO GOOD. She kinda looks like Billie Holiday, yeh?

  • skills. nicki minaj DO ONE. roxanne vs nicki.

  • @skateboardsteve409 No... Nicki Minaj is cool. She's a different type of rap. Better than a lot of the wannabes.

  • NO WAY IN HELL SHE FREESTYLED DIS SHIT....NO matter what ..U..SHE..& ANY BODY SAY...NO WAY IN HELL....maybe..1:58-2:00...other than that.....PLEEEAASE.....I had tha SUPER crush on her when I wuz like 10 doe

  • @LALAKERFACE

She freestyled the original version for sure!!! It's partly why she shot to stardom, her CRAZY ability to rhyme and make up stories on hte spot!

She did the same on Queen of Rox, Freestyle Live, Im Fly Shante, and Def Fresh Crew to name a few. ( no rhyme intended)

  • NICKI WHOOO.????? lmfao. one of thee BEST female freestyle MCs is Roxanne Shante'.

  • @LokoLexx01 dont come at nicki bitch ....IT NICKI FUCKING MINAJ YOU ASS

  • @davon19901 it was a joke hunn. as in lmfao, j/k., j/p, etc. it's NEVER that serious. it's youtube; TRY not to take it to the heart. i love nicki & thats bitch & all but roxanne shante killed this joint. & yur the ASS if yu actually think nicki gives a FLYING FUCK if someone thinks she's trash cuz she's out there gettin her shit up. don't get yurself worked up sweetie. =D

  • Yep remember this well-much better than most lite ass rappers today!

  • they should play real hip hop like this on the radio!!

instead of that brainwashing shit talking about money ,cars, and sex

  • the beat is too sick.

  • NIcki Minaj has nothing on Roxanne Shante! If only she had come out at this time, she'd smash em all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @tania1233 BITCH KEEP NICKI NAME OUT YOUR MOUTH IF YOU DONT HAVE NOTHING NICE TO SAY. YOU DUMB BITCH WHY YOU GOTTA BE COMPARING FOR LIKE GROW THE FUCK UP

  • @davon19901 why the fuck yu tellin people to keep nickis name out they mouth? its they mouth & if they wanna praise or knock nicki it's their prerogative. her name is always gon in someones mouth & it'd be IMPOSSIBLE to rid her name of everyones mouth. take yur own advice & don't say nothing at all if yu aint got shit nice to say cuz last time I CHECKED callin someone an ass & dumb bitch AINT nice. its CLASSLESS. if anyone needs to grow up its YOU. quit wastin yur time on shit yu can't control.

  • what happened to real hip hop?

  • She tight but her voice is hella weird

  • fuckin awesome!!!!!

  • used to bump this but listening to it now...this shit is terrible on waay too many levels

  • Who wrote this, again? Cuz it wasnt Shante.

  • @elishot She freestyled off her head.

  • @suss1

    She didn't even write this.

  • @elishot What are you talking about? When she was 14, she freestyled this off her head in one go. It was an on the spot recording that took place in the queensbridge projects in marley marl's apartment. Roxanne recorded it off the top of her head between laundry cycles. The video version is the studio recorded version they had to make after being sued by UTFO for copyright infringement.

  • yes yes lol big up roxanne. the real roxanne yea big up dizzee rascal - fix up look sharp i luv this beat

  • whats the namd of the diss track to ufto

  • @GrimR3cords roxanne roxanne

  • Just looked up her biography. She was 15 when this song was released in 1985.

  • Timeless :-)

  • she can spit

  • Roxanne Shante - One of the greatest of all time

  • Wow - I used to think she was good..... listening now I think she was just a good looking girl - she has a really odd voice!

  • @dfarmbrough she was only 14 when she freestyled this so maybe explains her voice....

  • @Jay1898 Maybe but what about Helen Shapiro? She was 14 when she topped the charts with You Don't Know and her voice sounded very adult.

  • She was like the best back in the days and still is go roxanne!!!!!

  • Wow I found out about this on vh1.Thought I would check it out on youtube.Get this though she spit fly rhymes without cussing or sexually explicit lyrics if only music could be like this today.

  • FRESHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

  • This is what you call rapping! or should i say freestylin. man those were the days.

oh & by the way the concert held in 1986, was called UK FRESH. some serious artists attended that concert. cat rock appeared for the first time on electro 1. aleem, afrika bambaataa, egyptian lover, world class wreckin crew etc. Tim westwood in his prime fronting the concert. MASSIVE. one track i have in my posession if anybody recalls is artist: dst title: so why is it fresh cool track. still sounds good.

  • lmaoo i loveee thiss sonqq i lisenn to itt all the timee. evenn thouu im only 13 :p . this is wherr rapp had its starrt.

  • If you were listening to rap back then you would have listened. This is history. You have no idea. To someone listening right now you might say that.

  • in fact i was a big fan of hiphop back then, I still have hundreds of cassettes from this era. But no, time does not justify the crappiness of this song.

  • I don't think the song was crappy because this was an era. This defined the beef from where hip hop was born.

  • Are you stupid?

  • Hard to say, I haven't been tested. One things for sure though, I am not stupid enough to low myself to personal insults, unlike some others.

  • Like you know! You are an idiot!

  • She's STILL cute too!

  • @missautumn96 .... girl, that's awesome!! it's good to know (and understand) where it comes from if you're gonna do it. good luck to ya!!

  • 4 sho

  • roxanne roxanne is a classic.

  • Love this girl back in the 80's. Go girl!

  • the female rapers back then were the shit and had a hard time trying to make a name for themselves until roxanne, mc lyte, queen latifah and many others came about.. Being born in 72 i can say i truly miss them days, 1986 was my first concert / a rap concert at that. Today's artist cant come close to what we had that paved the way to the artist today, who steals beats, lyrics and or remakes and ruins what what a true classic. No originality come out of rap today.

  • this was rap, black, white, male, female...

i grew up with electro, and the sugarhill gang,,,,,,, and "the crown" by gary byrd. that was rap.... ll cool j yes, of course run dmc, and curtis blow etc, etc. Public Enemy, and NWA made it a race thing after about 20 years of making it a "music thing" Ice T dropped the gangsta rubbish after colours, and "rhyme pays"!!! so hows about a real hip hop artist break back (and street sounds) because that is what urban music is ........ peace

  • i actually dont think taking beats is not original its spawns some of the best songs plus if your just starting out and unheard what are you supposed to do?

  • @lonnyca1 Its funny i used to LOVE this..All this OLD skool stuff...I cant listen to the music today...Too MUCH DRUGS,Violent,GANG RELATED,and beating on women....Peace love and Happiness

  • @lonnyca1 luv dem female rapers

  • @lonnyca1 word!!!!!!!

  • @lonnyca1 female RAPERS?

  • where is she now? i love her voice.

  • she graduated college and is now DR. Roxanne Shante.

  • She Rocks!

  • Those that were there...know the deal

  • The original street version's so superior that it's not even close. Peace.

  • Classic! I think she was 14 on this track.
