There is no way to put a price on carbon without spiking prices. Not only that, but the big "gas" they howl about is carbon dioxide...which is used by plant life. It is true the CO2 rates are higher right now, but the good side effect of that is that we are able to grow plants and replenish forests faster than in the past. That allows us to feed more people.
