  • Not s1, Replica!

  • dont rape the good old car pl0x

  • you can tell it wants to rally!

  • Where ever Dahlbäck is, there is one crazy audi!

  • whats the chirping? fast compressor surge?

  • @454sskilla BOV (Blow off valve"

  • @QFizzV8Fizz first of all there is no such thing like "blow off valve" in audi´s 5-cyl engines. You propably ment by-pass valve. Secondly, those S1´s didn´t have blow offs or by-passes at all.

  • @thenxs Then what makes that sound?, only BOVs do, atleast from what i've heard, but go ahead and correct me if you think you're smarter than me.

    (P.S, i'm not being offensive)

  • @QFizzV8Fizz Sorry if I made myself rude. Yeah, BOVs makes similar sound but in this (same engine in 90tq IMSA GTO) sound comes from air pressure goes back to turbine when throttle flap in manifold is closed = air surge makses turbine to reduce rotation speed (turbo is spinning at 150-200krpm). The BOV prevents this and lets air out from system (by-pass valve circulates it back to the turbine´s compressor wheel) rally cars rarely have bo valves to reduse risk of malfunction.Excuse my english.

  • @thenxs Ok, thanks for letting me know! :)

  • @thenxs Ok , tell me where did the compressed air from the turbo goes after the throttle valve is closed ( for example at the moment you shift ) ???

  • @Quattroowner : It gets forced out through the turbo since it has nowhere else to go - thus violently slowing it down (the turbine that is) while making that awesome NNNGHPFCOCOcocococo sound when you let of the gas. Running without BOV has its advantages, dependability not being one of them.

  • @kondemnert You know that audi used am "Umluftsystem" or closede Blowoff where the compressed air from the turbo was detured to the intake of the Turbo to prevent it from slowing down ???

  • @Quattroowner : the re-circulating dump valve? Sorry, I have no idea if they used it on the original S1.

  • @Quattroowner Dont think they used any blow off on the real S1, but road Quattros used recirculating valves.

  • @ringlol Recirculating valve was the word i have been searching for , and it is used in the S1 to prevent the turbo droping rev. while shifting ...

  • @Quattroowner Then they used a ridicoulusly strong spring because the turbo is still fluttering = losing turbo RPM's.

  • Abartig! :D

  • Hans still owns Dahlbäck Racing

  • so which rally was this Quattro used on ?

  • Gruppo B

  • @falkracing2 group b not gruppo b stupid italian

  • @bentleyv8t this should be Nr. 12 of 20 - Chassis-Nr. 85ZGA905012 - never used in group B times for a rallye but driven in 1990 ROC - Plates: NZO 620 (S)

  • @Kurzb3 ableitet.no/twentyS1/twentycars.htm. This website has all the S1s whereabouts.

  • @bentleyv8t GROUP B

  • the car is not owned by Dahlbäck,its owned by the man who runs the gatebil, the only thing Dahlbäck as done to the car was to put a new turbo and map the ecu because the car is from 86 or something,so its a pretty old computer setup on it!..watch gatebilfilmen 03..he says it himself!..but what a classic car;)

  • I think that i wrote somewhere that this dahlbackracing Audi S1 had 700hp,but i am not sure!!!

    beautiful car
