The Bogen Manafroto company has good mid level tripods. They are heavy duty and last years and years. Just make sure you get one that can rotate to do the landscapes and portraits and that has a fluid head..
any tips for a good make of tripod that i can use for photography and videography because i like to take pics in portrait that means the wedge plate is turned from landscape to portrait -
I had to pause this already great video for 1 second; if you bought the 5D ii and shoot full auto; please visit a bookstore. The 5D ii takes it very personal when you shoot full auto. Please grab a field guide. Happy shooting.
Great video! Went out & got this cam, cost me and arm and a leg. My relative with no photography knowledge expected an awesome photo with his first point and shoot (since the 5d is so expensive), seen the result and said a simple digital camera can do the same thing. What do I tell these fools? Story of my life
It's funny that people with absolutely no knowledge in photography owning pro-equipment while I know there are quite a lot of students who are taking photography classes in university can only afford lowly Rebels and kit lenses.
Well life isn't fair after all :D
btw if any of you decides to buy a good DSLR make sure you also have enough money to get some high quality lenses for it too. Ideally Canon L lenses or if you don't mind MF Zeiss lenses.
@abosaber1 it looks like our distance from what is considered semi expert and pro is smaller nowadays. d7000 is all many of us need. check out... freedslr . c0m change 0 with o and take the chance to win a new Nikon D7000
Well, I'm one of those noobs. I bought the 5D Mark II and went out to shoot pictures. I had to ask someone to help me turn it on. Yes, I think it's funny.
yeah...I can just see myself passing my $5000 camera and lens to a family member just to try out the custom controls....peeeoooo ...things they say just to make one of those tutorials clips...
You would be shocked at all the emails and calls from people that have more dollars than talent. More than you would think. Next time you go to a wedding where a guest has a high end camera, ask him or her what setting they use. "auto" is usually the answer. Last week-my kids flag football practice, one kids mom (docs wife) had a Canon 7D with a $2500 long lens on it. I gave her the 7D training video free as she was willing to try to take it to the next level. That is par for the course
@jonvideo i am one of those obnoxious ppl who know nothing about cameras and went out and bought a canon 5d mark ii.....i just wanted to take nice photos like the sartorialist guy, and that's the camera he uses..
now i realize how much i need to learn. i am still trying to figure the thing out. i also bought a whole light kit etc.
but when i took a picture, the whole thing turned out white...that's when i realized i got a lot more studying to do..
Next time I'm at the studio I will try to find it and find a name on it. I have owned it for a few years now, so I can't remember who makes it or where I got it.
@jonvideo What is the best software to convert the video for editing on PC apart from Sony Vegas which is what I will be using to edit in the first place... I have a music video shoot and will be using one of these for it... K
@pixuma It does your right, I just got the Canon 7D a while ago.. the files sizes are too big to playback properly in vegas.. It is always recomended that you convert the clips to full HD 1080 before editing... In answer to my own question, I now use Adobe Media Converter to convert the .mov files into something that I can work with.. usually HD Mpegs... Its not bad..
if you can't decide you you should really be looking for a cheaper camera. 500D for example if you really want the video function. The 5D would be a total waste of money in your case!

Informative video, thank you. Does anyone know the name of the stand holding the 5D in this video?

Its on the back of the camera to the right of the viewfinder if you are holding it up to you. Not on the dial.

If you need to use the setting with the green square, you should really be looking for a cheaper camera.

I agree, Thats why we have the videos, to get people away from the green square.:)!

I love my Nikon D90. The 1080 video is great too.
jasonbadler 3 years ago
how does the d90 handle noise? i can't decide on the d90 or the mark ii =/
am6290 3 years ago
It is good, though technically the 5D mark ii will be better in the noise area but you also pay more for it.
