  • Islandgirl: that's how I make my rice and peas. Fry peas first with spices until it gets crispy, then add some water/coconut milk, then add rice.

  • You are a very good cook. You are doing a very good job with your demonstrations. (These are also W.I. dishes). I was taught to actually season the peas first; I put the oil, peas and seasonings in the pot and cook them in a rich sauce, then add the rice, coconut and water. I guess the end result is the same. I am going check out more of your videos. I am going to cook some of these dishes for dinner tonight. I usually use the potato and chick peas. I will try the carrots.

  • @islandgirl3330 i think i might try it this way instead. i'm more familiar with this since this is pretty much exactly how haitians cook all variations of rice&beans... (diri kole).
