  • BEZ DAC L I NY NY .. white pride rep that!!! this is str8 heat

  • I remember hearing this song and was impressed because I had never heard an obvious rock riff at every beat. Well that explains why Diamond D kept busy as a producer for a long time after he released albums.

  • the real funky shit

  • effortless fresh

  • Classic hip-hop

  • I was jammin' this ish back in 9th grade, '92

  • anthony mason and brand nubian up in this. back when most n.y. heads actually supported one another.

  • d.i.t.c

  • diamond was mad fresh

  • That flute riff is what makes this song...DD says it himself... his style is simplistic, but he gets it off. GREAT example of Golden Era hip hop!...

  • Traditional

  • Diamond D got props like a cop. Classic material right hurr.

  • such a classic album!!!! 5 stars!!! "A funky bassline and a hype loop!" Lyrical skills for DAYS!!!! back in the Golden Era of Hip-Hop! Real Heads Know

  • "rapper tries to diss I'll crush da mofo". That's a hot chorus!

  • beat used by 3XDope -E.S.T. the unusual fellow-from Philly in 1989. Diamond D killed it though

  • this shit is still hot in 11-12, what you talkin about

  • i dont care what u haters say this shit was hot back in 91-92

  • @MrMizz007 You said it This was that shit for me I bout the ta[r ;okr 3-4 times my weak as walkman kept poppin the tape

  • @MrMizz007 You said it.. This was that shit for me I bought that shit like 3-4 times my weak ass walkman kept poppin the tape

  • Brand Nubian!!

  • those 8 who dislike " got a small wee wee"!!

  • "Diamond D, eatin' porridge?" I used to always say that as a kid. This album is a classic.

  • I had this joint on a promo VHS tape. Along with a few others including House of Pain - Shamrocks and Shenenagans (Butch Vig Remix) and Apache' - Gangsta Bitch. Some serious shit back in the day. Almost everybody says now that most rap nowadays is weak ass shit compared to 80's-90's stuff. It's true.

  • As as Atlantan for 20years now I can truly say that It takes a special kind of idiot to say that the South ruined hip hop,and that

1.)Mainstream East Coast hip hop became ultrawack way back in the mid-90s when Puffy & Mase rose to stardom.

2.)Those people obviously don't listen to underground hip hop;which has always had vitality in the South.

3.)They're obviously oblivious to the fact that there's only ONE major label IN THE WORLD (Universal Music Group)controling over 70% of the rap market!

  • He got arrested for tryna rape a 14 -2- mayb 17yr old boy back in like 1997

  • Didn't he just get in a fight in a club in ATL recently?

  • Oh god, 666 likes

  • hey its 80's basehead crack smoking music

  • East Coast has a more In-Your-Face style, West Coast is more Laid-Back, Dirty South is more Wild. Different styles. That doesn't make one better then the other.

And it should be about record companies supporting talented acts not about who has the flashiest gimmicks. Corporations are destroying music.

  • @Tkieron True and true.

  • STON HAITIN THE SOUTH, fuckheads

  • Big Anthony Mason reppin' the Knicks in this one. Brand Nubian @ 1:09. Pure NYC hip-hop! Unparalleled. Real talk.

  • All-time classic hip-hop. I wish Diamond would've made more tracks and flows.

  • sick random flute at 1:46

  • @nickshel yeah man!! i miss this tipe of beats

  • real hip hop for ever

  • Anthony Mason was the Best Kept Secret! He came out of nowhere and destroyed the NBA with Charles Oakley! The Knicks we tough as hell back then also with the X MAN!

  • Used to work at my college radio station and we'd get all these 12"s to play and when they stopped letting us play rap (bullshit) they gave me all the shit to take home and this was one of em. so dope

  • Love Diamond D

  • hello

  • You're the dumbass lmfao.

  • OH!!....I SEE I TOUCHED A NERVE IN THIS MUTHAFUCKA!!! lol

  • seriously though, i can respect the west and the south trying to be their own kind of music, but southern crunk is just garbage compared to east coast rap. on average east coast albums are superior to that shit, except for like outkast, geto boys, ugk, maybe T.I. East coast is just better in rapping and production techniques, crunk muzik takes no talent and its garbage. the west im not really a fan, bun i dont mind like Pac and Ras Kass. Dre and DJ Quik are dope too

  • No "area' ruined Hip Hop. the music is there, but a lot of these punk ass club and radio DJ's refuse to "break" artist. In the south, they will play it, and leave your fate to the crowd, so apparently how most of us feel...there is a market for it.

Support your local artist, and demand their music in the clubs & radio. Only YOU can save hip hop!

  • @soulsimplistic I agree somewhat actually.

  • @soulsimplistic

    What? Support what? Garbage?

  • @soulsimplistic

Support what? Garbage is garbage kid.....support HIP HOP......fucking idiot

  • Eeeeeeyyyyyyyyy, Yo - I USED TO STUDDA !!

  • ..thumbs way up

  • @559Loso...There are wack rappers in NY just like in the south playa...you can quit that crap about the south ruining rap. I was born in Brooklyn grew up 156th and St. Nicholas uptown and moved to the south. South go hard but there is BS in NY just like everywhere else.

  • @Bigplayantx70

I don't give a flying fuck where you came from or where you grew up. Southern so called "hip hop" is pure fucking garbage. It's RAP and that's that. So stop sucking the south's asshole and talk real HIP HOP.Early 90's southern hip hop was the shit...

  • @mk2123 Ppl forget about Scarface and UGK that was holding shit down

  • Anthony Mason... NY bad boys !

  • Bronx reppin'

  • Loved his Brand Nubian and Tribe Called Quest production. Im pretty sure this video was shot in Queens too, right?

  • I wish the rappers of today would look back to Diamond D and others for some extensive rap tips!

  • flow joe ?

  • EAST COAST INVENTED IT

    WEST COAST RAN WIT IT

    DOWN SOUTH RUINED IT!!!!!!!!!!!

  • So true an actual fact

  • @559LOSO

    geto boys

    now stfu

    that's all

  • @559LOSO East Coast invented it

    Down south ran it

    West coast ruined it.

The only good west coast rappers at the time were 2pac, dre, snoop dogg, and some others.

    west coast ruined today's rap.

  • @commandcaponez Yes, because people like Madlib and Stones Throw, The Likwit Crew, The Grouch, Too Short, etc are all horrible and single-handedly destroyed hip hop. Worst comment on youtube yet.

  • @PacificDark You wish. They didn't destroy hiphop newfag.

  • @commandcaponez You are a dumbass. I was being sarcastic in reply to your own dumb ass comment. Idiot.

  • @559LOSO agree hiphop 4 ever ya!!!!

  • @559LOSO . nothing better than screw htown htown

  • @559LOSO

HAHA, OH SNAP......that fucking shit is MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD true, kid.....I"m just saying..

    What's that fuck heads name...ummm.....Soldier boy???? Or what's that other kid's name...ummm....LIL shit....i'm sorry...what?

  • @559LOSO

i think west coast gangsta rap dragged it down. Even though they were important for the genre, Gangsta rap eventually crushed the original premise of the art to uplift. Notice how Pac's lyrics changed over the years and the overall subject matter of Eight, NWA, Too Short et. al. But Phatcyde and others were very positive and the south, we they had some great contributions- da Bratt, Goodie Mod, Outkast, Luda Master P

  • @MrFrodiggs Yep. But it wasn't the rappers. It was the labels and those behind the labels. Same thing with this vulgar, half-brain shyt kids hear over the last 10 years from the South especially. That's not the rappers, that's the labels telling them what they have to do to get a deal.

  • @cavaleer

partially true but not 100% true maybe 70% but I'm on the outside.

  • @MrFrodiggs I'd say at least 70% of these cats rapping today wouldn't have sniffed a microphone in the 80s and 90s, esp. if they were in NYC or NJ. Now, though, the stupidity is expected, even liked.

  • @cavaleer ........word!!!!

  • @cavaleer truth be told it s the fans that fucked it up. if more artists like this were supported by fans then the labels would have no problem putting out good music.

  • @akadatruf That's a good point but cats like Diamond D never got enough publicity for people to even know about them, so then the label says, "See, your sales are too low, so we're dropping you." But the listener support is a problem, true.

  • @cavaleer I was living in barnwell sc at the time and i saw his videos regularly there so... if sc was gettin it alot of people just slept heavily on one of the best hip hop albums ever made.

  • @akadatruf Bro' I'm not dissing the South as a whole and definitely not Southernens. I'm from WV and have roots in VA. My point is the the way the labels manipulated things to the lowest and most vulgar, by the time the South really got into it, it was ruined lyrically. Beats are another matter altogether. I just wish there were more T.I.'s and even Wayne's to match some of those hot tracks. Gucci and Wacka are worst examples. And if the quality had stayed high they wouldn't see a mic.

  • @559LOSO with exception to the "OLD" Outkast music....before Aquemini

  • @559LOSO - yEAH THERE IS A TERRIBLE IMBALANCE DOWN HERE... YOU GOT GOOD MC'S AND THEN YOU GOT TERRIBLE ONES... FROM NY LIVE IN ATL. THE IMBALANCE IS INCREDIBLE...

  • @559LOSO the south may ruined now with lil gayne and solja boy

but dont forget about geto boyz goodie mob ugk outkast and dead prez

  • @559LOSO west and ATL ruined Hip hop... eastcoast is the original and has no comparison

  • @559LOSO I HEARD DAT!!!! AND THESE FAG SUCKAS LET EM!!!

  • @559LOSO lies. outkast. enough said.

  • @559LOSO Not entirely true, you can't forget Outkast and Scarface and The Geto Boys. BUT within the past 10 years I couldn't agree more, "Whatttt, boy I think they like me in my White Tee, lean with it suck with it, I'm gonna let my chain hang low, go to the jewelry shop and tell them to make me a grill." Honestly I'm not from the hood nor can I rap, but I could spit harder than todays average MC, all these songs are interchangeable garbage. But please never forget the good southern rap.

  • @steelounbelievable74 its easy to point ot the garbage.but dont front like New york never gave birth to more then a few WACK EMCEES!

  • @steelounbelievable74 agreed there was some dope southern cats even luda had good shit. you forgot to say the labels are really the ones to blame

  • @559LOSO and midwest made it better

  • @559LOSO and you sound like an idiot!

  • ITS FUNNY HOW THESE SO CALLED hIP hOP HEAD TALKIN SHIT BOUT THE SOUTH AND DIDNT KNOW BOUT DIAMOND D BEFORE YOUTUBE.MATTER FACT PROBABLY DONT KNOW D.I.TC!!

  • @559LOSO Your out your mind... Scarface in the 90's made music better then the east and west.. Be specific when u say the south make sure you say southern rap from 2000 to 2011 ruined hip hop

  • one of the most underrated cd's of all time

  • damn the days of cassette tapes.......some of the greatest beats back then...so classic....

  • Sooo hard to watch! This was IT back in the day!!

  • diamond is definately one of the greatest producers in the history of hip hop music. i love the way he flipped that three dog night sample with only an akai s950 and an alesis handheld drum programmer/sequencer. not many people couldve pulled that off.

  • thats the most overused cameo ive seen in a video...lol

  • @sandlane Times was different. He was a school yard legend in Queens. The Knicks were at war with Michael Jordan and the Bulls and Anthony Mason was a general in those battles. He was a point power forward way before LeBron James! This was as much his video as Diamonds!

  • I own the Ultimate Force album , when Diamond D was the DJ for Master Rob .

That shit is real nice , especially for being from 1988 . most of the beats sound like shiit you would hear during the mid 90's . Again , way ahead of his time ...

" diamnond D , raised in forrest " that is a cut from Mater Rob on the Ultimate Force album . It also features a young Fat Joe ... 16yr old .

  • This vid was on point cuz Anthony mason was a secret..at least nationally.

  • oh lord !! bring this vibe back!!

  • cruncha block is back NIGGAZ!

  • HARD!!!!! had the box on hoopin @ the REC up in North Philly

  • He needed to point at the camera more! More cowbell!!

  • This takes me back to Arlington Va. acting wild on Columbia Pike and 8th Road. Big up to my T-Hill Crew (93-96 era)!

  • "New Yawk is the city, BRONX is the county"! My favorite line. Big ups to Anthony Mason in the video. Diamond D along with Lord Finesse are the two most underrated rappers of all time. Dudes were just way too ahead of their time.

  • @gotflava1 Word up brother , Finesse is my all-time fav MC but there are so many ill tight rappers from back in the golden era . DITC is one of the dopest crews ever to rep the East ! slick beats , rhymes production etc !

    UNDERGROUND HIPHOP

  • i bought this tape on title alone...

  • That was Anthony Mason!

  • 90's was the golden era of Hip Hop

    REAL TALK

  • sounds weak n the lyrics aint shit

  • @flyinghotwing cuz u probably take it in the ass.

  • @blud1972 did i hurt your feelings cuz this dude cant rap?

  • @flyinghotwing not at all my man, every "internet critic" has the right to voice there own opinion, its just a well known fact that if you can't respect the fact that diamond d bought a fuckton of skills lyrically and production-wise,then you take it up the butt.

  • @blud1972 my man? what are you a white suburbian tryin to be black? ..dude, u might find one woman fine as hell and i may think she is ugly, or vice versa, its a matter of taste, music is art, there is no objectivity involved, you like this guy, im happy for you, it sounds like shit to me, i like immortal tecnique, i like paris, i like ice cube, i like certain sounds, this shit i dont care for, so respect that and ill respect the fact that you do like it, good for you

  • @flyinghotwing And I agree that everything's about opinion, and it is my opinion that Immortal Technigue, Paris, & the "CURRENT" Ice Cube are butt-ass-wack rappers to me.......You call this shit wack??? You sound more like a hater to me. This shit is Classic Hip Hop and I'm willing to bet that you wont find 1 person on here that'll agree with your fucked up opinion about Diamond D. The Mighty BX is in the house.....

  • @Danexman diff strokes fo diff folks...god bless you,son!

  • @flyinghotwing You're right bro - diff strokes for diff folks, it's a beautiful thing.....God bless you to my man.......

    that was a fun day

  • to: oleold

word. i think hip hop was on it's way towards transforming the world in a profound & positive way. it still has but less positively than i was hoping. when the corps got it hasn't it been marketed and merchandised as gangsterism, concealing who the real gangsters were that we should be talking about!?

  • Man this was my jam back in the early 90's, but yeah they need to leave it alone and let it be real, and not enterprise.

  • this album was the shit. 92 I was a junior in High School smoking blunts and writing graffiti jaming out to this!

never knew what was said in the hook? I just tried to look it up and what was written didn't look right. it said "cock d, trees in forest"

I think it says DT something somethin
