TPM needs to clarify in their description that Sunun is LYING. First they said it was the Chinese (LIE) and now it's the Cubans (LIE). TPMTV- just throwing this out there might result in some people not understanding the point of this video- which is that Sununu is the 8th Republican to repeat a variation of this lie.

See old Goebbels knew a good thing when he saw it. If you just repeat something over and over, it is no longer a "lie." These guys will convince the American public of anything they have to in order to make their billions. What I fail to understand is how people are so blind to not notice. I thought going broke on bread, milk and gas would at least make some people question the validity of these arguments. But I guess not.

I saw a Pew poll- the Republicans/oil industry are winning the argument amongst the public. Doesn't really surprise me- most people just don't take the time to get informed so they simplistically assume what's going on is merely a supply and demand issue. Drill more and produce more and the oil companies will reward consumers with lower prices. Because we all know the oil companies are such nice folks. The Republicans and their pals in the oil industry/media have been very successful.

Sadly, their outrageous, unchallenged lies to a complicit media have had the desired effect. More and more people are convinced that if we allow Exxon to rape Alaska gas prices will come down. The fact Bush has allowed the value of the dollar to plummet is rarely discussed as being a cause for high prices. And the unchecked speculators, who are responsible for as much as a dollar per gallon of the cost, is almost never discussed. Just drill, drill, drill. And uninformed people are believing it.

Why would the Cubans be concerned about environmentally damaging Florida's coastline? There are lots of justifications for drilling for oil off Florida's coast, but because the Cubans are supposedly doing it isn't one of those justifications. If I jumped off a bridge, would you jump after me?

Thing is, the Cubans are not doing it. What Sununu said is a flat out lie- that has been repeated (in various forms) by 8 Republicans so far. It has no basis in reality. Isn't it great we have a corporate media that holds them accountable- yeah right. Republicans just flat out lie to the American people and routinely get away with it. Why have these 8 lying Republicans not been shamed on the national news?

That's why I used the word "supposedly". I have often heard the Chinese are drilling in Cuban waters line, but from the internet I'm hearing that is not true, or at least isn't true yet. :-/ It's hard to know who to believe anymore when our leaders regularly lie to us and our media sucks up to them.
