i absolutely love steve howe -- but compared to his seemingly natural intensity in the movie 'yessongs', i find his stage antics here, hopping around, etc... a bit contrived. as though he's mimicking the audience's conception of what a rock guitarist should be doing.
Steve heads the select band of instantly recognisable and unique sounding players.. You know - those you can ID with a blindfold on.. Carlos, Knopfler, Beck, EC, SRV, etc... Don't think there's anyone to take over his crown when he finally hangs up his glorious 175.. Even the mighty Guthrie Govan - as amazingly technically gifted as he is doesn't have the mystique and unique-ness of Steve Howe. My personal opinion and not inviting a deluge of who's better than who posts etc...
Well he was introduced on stage as the man they all call the guv'nor!!! fantastic night all round and made even better when I returned the very next night to see Jimmy Page.
Such a beautiful composition, absolutely flawless, it takes my breath away! When Steve Howe plays a piece, it flows from beginning to end. Steve, you're the best! Long live Steve Howe and Yes! 5
wow!! no disrespect at alvin, leslie and the others who were supposed to be the main show but it was steve with his melodic and obscure array of arppegios that stole the show with his virtuosity

Super live, tout y est : virtuosité, feeling, énergie, inventivité (sans parler de la qualité de la composition)...
Steve Howe est vraiment un guitariste très surprenant!

I always loved this Howe track, and this live performance from "Night Of The Guitar" blows the studio version from the "Guitar Speak" anthology away !
Clive Mayuyu (drums),Livingston Browne(bass), Derek Holt (Keys) & Pete Haycock(2nd guitar) make for one hell of a rhythm section, also !!!

Howe rules.
The only one that's ever come close to copping his sound are two other masterful players: Eric Johnson, and on a good day Steve Morse.

Steve is nothing short of absolutely amazing. It's beyond my comprehension how he got that way, .... and when he was young too.

I agree. Steve always plays something a little bit different from the rest of the crowd. Nothing about his playing is cliche.
