  • are aluminum swords good to use?

  • Yes, they're excellent actually.

  • hails from oregon! i love your videos i wish i could join the group! i fight with a steel bastard sword and i practice from watching the demonstrations. the `trained` men here who show up to gatherings in town are fucking girls and never match there steel to their words

  • And I like, although I like lighter weapons like backswords and late cavalry sabres.

At 1:18 looks like teacher narrowly avoided a thrust or leg cut after student grappling his sword arm - I wonder how.

At 2:10-2:13 a quick exchange of cuts from quarte to tierce and vice versa at so close distance looks unnatural - a thrust in face with opposition seems appropriate here, or ceding parry with passing step forward and grapple. But I'm not expert, of course.

  • Thanks for the comments- informed commentary like this is much preferred to the other kind.

At 1:18, I escaped by using a beat with the false edge combined with an evasion.

In the sequence from 2:10 on, the distance was indeed much too close for normal fencing, the reason being that Matt was trying to close the distance to facilitate a grapple. He eventually did close in, but wasn't able to grip my arm before I could hit his leg.

    Thanks again,

    Chris Thompson

  • eh i dont realy like broadswords.
