I have 2008 F-250 6.4 Diesel Auto extended cap long bed with 2000LBS tools on the bed that I use as a service truck. it currently has 289.255 miles on it and runs 24/7 with no problems. Only thing I do is change oil ever 5k miles, change trany and diff. oil ever 100K. It does get 22.8 miles a gallon 65 miles an hour on flat interstate and 15.4 miles in city. It all depends how you drive it. This truck gets 23.5 miles at 55MPH on highway. it gets 18.4 on 70 MPH and 16.5 at 75MPH with 2000LBS we

The great fuel economy statement is a flat out lie. Mileage is the 6.4 engine's big drawback. The owner of the lawn service company we used at work told me he gets 7 mpg pulling his big trailer, and 10 mpg without the trailer. The owners of other 6.4 trucks I have asked told me they get about the same.

The cleaning mode the engine goes into causes the bad mileage. That's also what set some of them on fire when that engine first came out. Other than the mileage, its supposed to be a good engine.

thats because of the dual turbos and the govered rating on the engine. my dad has a 1997 f-350 with the 7.3 and its governed at 75% power. my friend put a superchip in their excursion with a 7.3 and it gave them 100 more hp and around 150 more ft lbs of torque

Yes, the Allison is a good trans. Just because its " Allison" doesn't make it the best trans in the world. I have gone threw 1 Allison in the Chevy "Freind used my Chevy to pull empty railroad cars". Ford's Torqshift is good. But Ford has a Dana 60 front instead of IFS. I have a 05' Chevy 2500 Duramax and 08' Ford F-250 powerstroke. Both are great. There is good and bad in every manufacture. Including Dodge.

Oh, and before I sold my 92' F-350 gasser, it out pulled both my diesels. ;)

Powerstroke is a International diesel manufactured for ford, just as Cummins with dodge is another diesel manufacturer. Designing a diesel is too complicated and time consuming that truck makers just get diesels from companies that have been making them for year.
