Actually I figured out another way to deal against FireMan with OilMan on hard difficulty.

Here is a tactics below:

1. You can attack him as much as you want or able (don't forget to evade his Firewaves though) UNTIL he perform his Special Attack. Stop attacking immediately on seeing his Ground Flame Attack. Jump over it then immediately jump over FireMan, who will follow his own attack if you hold your own attacks against him just as I told you. Stick close to him (it's important!) till he'll reach the corner (at about the same time as his Special Attack do).

2. Once he's in the corner - shoot at him (from the jump) once (it'll stop him right where you need him) and run away to another corner, jump over the Firewave Attack (single or a double one) he throws, jump over the Ground Flame coming closer at you and immediately jump over his next Firewave Attack again. This allows you to avoid damage (if you're quick and precise enough) from all his attacks I mentioned and prevent any surprising attack from the robot master I didn't mention.

3. You can repeat that every time you want to avoid huge damage his attacks inflict and a mess he could cause during his Special Attack. Just remember to hold your attacks and stick close behind him until he'll reach the corner!

Wow, quite a skill! Still can't beat FireMan with OilMan on Hard difficulty here (playing the game about a month or so). Beat it with all other characters (starting from Hard every time) without putting much effort into it or falling into depression in process but completely and desperately stucked with OilMan at the moment. He's definitely the hardest character to play with.

Hold Up and press jump. Works for both Mega Man and Oil Man.

Note that Oil Man jumps off significantly higher than Mega Man when doing this.

oh, thats how you do it, ive been annoyed on the timeman boss because his boss room is completely open, so if i accidently use the oil slide, im screwed.

fire man is very predictable when he's not attacking. when you're very close to him, running behind him or in front of him, he won't fire unless you shoot, at him or in general. can't remember all his patterns but that's one of his flaws.

You must have a lot of patience to attempt this, as I couldn't even get to Fire Man with Oil Man. IIRC, in the original Mega Man, if you and the boss hit each other at the same time with a killing blow, you didn't die, but you'd have no life energy. So in my eyes you are victorious!

One of the best, IMO. =] If you have a PSP, you should really consider picking this up. Simple with a lot of replay value.

A remake of the very first Mega Man, containing both an Old Style and New Style as well as other modes like Stage Construction and Challenge Mode. New Style is different in that it has: redesigned stages, 2 more stages (Time Man + Oil Man), 3 difficulties, multiple characters, and others.

This was actually right after I beat him for the first time on Hard. I noticed there were hardly any Powered Up vids on YouTube, and especially none on Oil Man vs Fire Man, so I decided to record a match myself, for helping people and bragging rights (mostly the latter).

Initially, I tried to beat Fire Man with a decent amount of health left, but after getting hit so much, I got sort of desperate at the end and ended up dieing. "Amused" by the results, I chose to upload this.

So how many hits does it take to kill Oilman here?

Well, this is from memory...A life bar has 28 units of life. As Oil Man, touching Fire Man or getting hit from Fire Storm does 4 units, and getting hit by his super does...I believe 12 units.

And oil shot/Oil Slide only does 1 unit to Fire Man. =[

Yea, it's for PSP. And the chibi look is the way the creator of Mega Man "envisioned" him.

Mega Man Maverick Hunter X, a remake of the original Mega Man X (SNES), is also a very good PSP title you should look into.
