Yes, for a long time, the French were some of Our greatest allies, and without them America would have been simply an unreached goal. HOWEVER, we bailed their asses out TWICE in the first half of the last century, and suddenly they start acting like dicks! America entered the war in its third year, then took another year building up their forces in Brittain. If you collaborate you keep some ability to help your people, if you die they find someone else to take your place and maybe that person isn't worried about the people.

World war I was in my opinion, because it had no goals, there was no real purpose to fight, the war only happened because of territory, and it acheived nothing other than setting up the world for an even bigger war.

My Grandfather was in the 82'nd and saw first hand how hard the French fought the Germans. They did not have the equipment or numbers needed. Yes they did have a regime that collaborated with the Germans and what would you do in that position? There you are with a gun pointed at your head and two choices collaborate or die? If you collaborate you keep some ability to help your people, if you die they find someone else to take your place and maybe that person isn't worried about the people.

I don't question individual courage. That you could see in all nations fighting Nazis, even in Germany (e.g. the White Rose, v, Stauffenberg, etc.).
What I question is how France as a nation could stand alongside the other (undefeated) nations and claim to be a winner. That's extremely weird to me.

wow he is a lucky man. my friend was trapped in an AAV while the engine was leaking toxic fumes, and smoke into the cabin. him and a couple other marines where stuck in there for 45 Mins before they wherev finaly rescued. he was also lucky. my cousin on the other hand was killed by in IED on Sept. 29, 08 in Afghanistan

my husband and I are both paramedics, and see horrible things everyday, but nothing compares to what those medics went through, never enough supplies, trying to fix bodies broken beyond repair in terrifying enviroments. God bless them all, this generation of men and women are almost all gone now, we need to remember their legacy.

I think World War 1 was, masses of infantry just slowly walking to the other sides trench, while under heavy machinegun fire/rifle and under an artillery barrage.

World war I was in my opinion, because it had no goals, there was no real purpose to fight, the war only happened because of territory, and it acheived nothing other than setting up the world for an even bigger war.

The yougest Marine on Iwo Jima had lied about his age to enlist (most common among poor families). He was blown in half by Japanese artillery on his 15th birthday.
Another kid on Iwo Jima was 16 when he recieved the Medal of Honor.
