I was there at this concert in 1986. I was 24 years old then. It remains one of the greatest events I have ever attended. I still get goosebumps listening to this even today :-)
nice to see the redknecks from the lone star state appreciate proper music i thought those guys only listened to two kinds of music country !! and western !! lol from your friends in england we love you really !!!
it is still ranked in the top 5 of the worlds greatest ever concerts......and you can certainly see why...i was 20 at the time when we were on holiday in Houston with my family and we went to see this event...i think it's the first time i'd ever seen my mum cry,she was that overwhelmed.....i don't think i've ever seen as many people before in 1 place EVER!!!!!!!!...a trully amazing event....
I missed his latest gig in London thanks to my mom visiting, gutted. The worst thing is I've not been to any of these massive gigs of his, it's still one of the things I want to do, he's amazing and influenced my taste in music for years, there's no one better than him, a genius of his time. Miraculous
He is so brilliantly awesome... it's like "I'll put up a show that even I will be thrilled by it""... Like @Vennrgoor10 said, this is what a real musical artist is like... this is a real concert....
Eu praticamente não conheço esse artista, mas pela apresentação, pelos estouros dos fogos de artifício, pela EXPRESSÃO de Jean, e tudo mais, essa deve ser a música de encerramento e maior obra-prima dele!
I can remember being about 13 watching this from the Sabine St. bridge, awesome!!! It was pretty mind blowing then, even now watching the 80's at it's best, it really was a once in a lifetime event.
I am on a trip in Italy now... and we went to monace last night, and there we saw a metalthing in the water, and later some lound fucking music came... yeah he is going to have a concert on Friday, and I'll be there :) Yesterday I was about 5 meters from Jean :o
Music amazes human beings, makes them happy, brings them to tears and so so many other things, Monsieur Jarre created something really great then, without any modern computer technique we have nowadays I was eighteen then and i couldn't stop watching the VHScassette, so who the f.... cares if he played really live or playback, he amazed his audience, that's what counts!!
@superhep44 Exactly, no matter what anyone thinks about his music, he's a performer, his job is to entertain people. I'd call entertaining 1mil+ people at once a success.
This song is part of m/professional history. Years ago (here in Brazil), when I used to work with only 16 colors, I created a presentation w/"IBM Sory Board". I didn"t about JMJ, but I heard this song and defenitely decided to create that slide show with his song as play back, using Story Bord small effect resources, and also the lights of the conference room to mach with the song.
It caused such an impact on my bosses, that I was promoted and had the chance to go to Boston to study Computer Graphics.Few months later I was already working with high resolution. I did not know I was as cracy as he. Today, loking at his happiness/crazyness while playing, I see myself years and years ago. HE IS FANTASTIC! THIS SONG IS SOMETHING OUT OF THIS WORLD! THANK YOU, JARRE!
Every time you see Jarre playing the circular light up keyboard the crowd are actually behind him and not in front of him. It was only at the end of the concert for Rendez-Vous 4 when the whole circular light up keyboard actually spun round on a spinning platform and then Jarre was facing the crowd
He looks ecstatic..... Well who could blame him. One of the true pioneers of electronic music ( apart from kraftwerk) and large scale light shows = good guy
This was back in the times when americans looked healthy. If you go there now you would see the difference. If they get any heavier they could cause earth crust displacement. The floor beneath them would just give way.Where did it all go wrong america?Great show though.
I sat center stage with some fellow TAMUG Aggies! This man is a true composer, not just musician! You have to experience it live! They shut down Hwy 59 since everyone parked on it to watch the West Side light up!
i was there when this was being played live! it was the most awesome concert i ever went to, and it was free!! ya had to be there to fully appreciate it. RW doesnt compare at all.
I was standing right there watching this show... This video does nothing to capture the scale of this show. or was it the acid we took... Ha. Either way, it was unforgettable.
I was there, I was hanging out with my friends right on the "Pierce elevated (real close to the sign for I-45 Dallas"...We were having a party right there on the road. The police just gave up, people were drinking beer, getting high, just having a great time, with the most amazing of concerts going on right next to us. The video's are cool to have, but they just can't give you what it was like...maybe someone will digitize the old stuff and do it in Blu-Ray, but for now, I'll keep the memories.
My wife and I sat in the middle of I-45 overlooking downtown Houston for this show. The city had to close all the freeways cuz so many people were there for the light show. Lazer projections on the skyscrapers, fireworks, lights, music... Still one of the most memorable events of my life. Thanks, sheda42!
when c.ds first came out i bought equinoxe..the pure sound pumped up really loud was awesome.you heard stuff you never heard the first time you played it.that happened often which to me makes a complete composer of digital music..pure brill
@alcamus1973 You are right, Rendezvous IV in Houston was almost indescribable. It was a great time to be alive, a great time to be young, and a great time to be in Houston, in my opinion one of the greatest cities in this country. I am thankful to have been there and experienced this. The whole concert is on VHS but they say they will not put it on DVD due to the poor quality. There also is an album/CD. Take care.
Some of these comments about Rick Wakeman are really unfair. Rick Wakeman is one of the best keyboard players in the world. Jean Michel Jarre is one of the best innovators in regards to keyboard technology in the world (at least in the 70's he was). I love them both, even though their music is generally worlds apart.
@neil73 Totally agree with you just because you like one artist dont pull another one down. Wakeman was the best keyboard player in the world in the early 70's and was taken over by the technological brilliance of Jarre. I love both of their music for different reasons
I was in the crowd that night, I hosted an all day party for my suburban friends, since I lived downtown, and traffic was impossible. I had met Jean Michelle Jarre in early January of 1986- he had come to Houston to teach astronaut Ronald McNair a saxophone piece. This was the be the first music played in outer space, by the first African American astronaut.
I was there in front of the stage for this monumental event for Houston. An outstanding FREE concert. The metal from the fireworks just rained down us during this finale! Plus the entire concert was simulcast on the radio, actually more music than was released on the album and the video.
La cancion en los 80s en el disco se llama conteo final pero desgraciadamente no la he podido encontrar en ningun lugar y el disco que te menciono es de los grandes de acetato de antes
