For all the criticism we put on Singh for being weak and not tackling corruption (which is true), the economy has done rather well under his leadership. In Singh's 1st term (roughly the 10th 5 Year Plan period), average growth was 7.7% and during his 2nd term (11th Plan period), average growth was 8.2% (despite the global recession). I can't complain...

Deng Xiao Ping was much 'weaker' than Mao but had great vision as to how to run economy. Indira Gandhi was a disaster. Her imposition of emergency was not only an insult to Indian democracy, the economy performed very badly under her leadership. She insulted Sikhs by running tank in Golden Temple and started 1971 war unnecessarily. She was a power monger...
