@gmanw3 Made a post back in 2010 that I was thinking about trading in the Dodge Ram for my third Wrangler... Went and drove the Rubicon... and made a deal on it that very day. No regrets! Of the 4 Jeeps that I've owned, three of them have been the Wrangler series... and of those three... the 2011 Rubicon is the shiz...! Hands down. [sorry for the delayed response... but I just found your response today.] ...another Jeep Thing...! :)

I went there in Feb09 my mate & his missus were in the few that managed to make it, he was using a double lockered 80 series on 33's, there's a couple of good ledges near the top. I chickened out because it was my first trip offroad with the Rubicon, only had 900km on it then.

It's a heavy boot into it hill, my motor was pretty tight still in those days and I was still working out what it could & couldn't do.

The rubi has lockers front and back sway bar disconnects and so on, the sahara or the x doesnt have that and they have wimpier diffs if im not mistaken.... same engine different running gear open diffs are about as cool as aids lol

Rubicons, X's, sahara's all have the same engine - so any one of them could make that climb, no?

Correct on the engine, but the Rubicon is the only one with a front locking diff.....so, no not any of them could make it. 4 tires turning makes a world of difference compaired to 3

Lol... Ive got a 2003 rubicon, a short cut on a quad trail the other day led me to test the lockers... I was happy to have the Dana 44s under there when it started hopping :) hopped and tore its way to the top... Im pretty sure the quadders were in for a fun ride taken their short cut back down... Its more fun in a jeep with the top off, but I have a tacoma (99) stock 3.4 and hills barely climbed in the jeep locked and tacoma (no locks)climbs it too but cant take the top off the Taco ;)
