  • its ok to me

  • @evans10j No, it's not really. As half way through the video it goes out of focus, due to the focus on the camera being locked off at at a near focus point. Ought redo the video to be honest.

  • Wow thats an incredibly accurate sound of a class 40

  • @Gartfield112 Class 37 :-) Cheers.

  • Hey, how do you wire this? dcc?

  • @ninjaofmadness It is DCC, & comes straight out the box ready to run, as seen here.

  • @ay76 So running DCC, is it the same principal as dc? As in just connect track and wire the one track with those screws? sorry... im sorta new to this.

  • @ninjaofmadness Sort of. DC you control the power in the track. With DCC the track is at a constant voltage with the controller sending digital signals to all parts of the track on the layout. These signals are then picked up by the loco's which have a decoder fitted in side. If the loco picks up a signal that commands it to move etc, then it'll do as it's told until other wise. You can solder the wire to the track, or use the Hornby or similar power connector to the track.

  • @ay76 So i just bought a Atlas kit with ez track and its dcc ready, blah blah blah... So do i need anything else exept a decoder chip and a contoller? PS. Thnks 4 your help :)

  • @ninjaofmadness Cool. Sounds like your ready to roll so to speak :-) Think from what you say, you've got the basics in place. A case of adding a few more DCC fitted loco's now, & enjoy being able to run the loco's all independently etc. Cheers.

  • @ay76 Thanks!

  • Very realistic sounding,,,,love the suspension bridge also!

  • @Barryat11 Thank you, sure does add a new element to the hobby, DCC sound. Cheers.

  • can you tell me is that a bachman train

and how did you get the sound of the train please and watch my layout

  • Yes it's bachmann. It's one of their DCC sound on board loco's. Cheers.

  • Lovely vid, very colouful coaches there, also very steady when you move the camera. Awsome vid 5*

  • Many thanks. The coaches are what ran on the Kyle line in Scotland, & was a ltd ed from Harburn hobbies & Model rail mag. With the video I tried to hand held the camera as still as i could. Should of used a tripod really. Kind regards.

  • bet they cost a lot!

  • Not really, as with the mark 2's they came as a 4 pack. The mark 1's were sold as twin packs. I missed out on one of the mk1 twin packs. Cheers.

  • Those coaches are beautiful! what mrk are they and where did you get them?

  • They were a ltd edition Bachmann. They came as a set of 4. They were commisioned jointly by Harburn Hobies in Edinburgh & Model Rail (magazine). All now sold out. These coaches are MK2 & ran in this livery up on the line from Inverness to Kyle of Lochalsh. Check out Andrew Vines book Diesels in the Highlands for photo's of the real thing. I did come across two of these coaches at Peak Rail in Derbyshire, looking a bit worse for wear.Awaiting their turn for restoration I guess. Cheers.

  • thats just so cool

  • It's what got me to switch over to DCC. Cheers.

  • Is that Atlas Flex-Track your using?

  • It's Peco Streamline code 100 flexitrack. Cheers.

  • The eurostar is the 8 car set ,3 more sets of 4 needed to complete it,cheers

  • Cool.

  • Lets face it them motors in the present cl91 ones were naff, noise, pulling power anything better the ringfield ones who ever designed them want shot.

  • Aye, how things have moved on now. Cheers.

  • Have you seen video i shared iain cheers

  • Just slowly working through the in box now.

  • Morning iain, lets hope they fetch out a revamped 225 in intercity exec, gner and new livery nat express as it could do a with a completly new motor like new 125,we will have to wait and see wont we,would you want one. Cheers

  • I think over time we'll see a revamped all new class 91 by Hornby. I for one would be buying one. Cheers.

  • looks like you have the making for a great layout , i look the class 37 sound now i've converted my layout to dcc i must get one

thanks for sharing hope to see more as you build it

  • Well im thinking gner and grand central 125 run at same time as same era ,watch this space cheers for now speak soon

  • Good choice, like it.Cheers.

  • Do your comment come in order on computer as my end is totally out of sink, cheers

  • Gone out of sink here too.Cheers.

  • Two comment after submitting came with red panel saying blocked, maybe too many numbers(phones)maybe. ?

  • Could be.I'm getting a lot of comments & emails at the moment, so it could be something to do with that.Cheers.

  • Did you sound chip hst yet?

  • Not yet, need to get a sound decoder for it. Be a while before I get round to doing it. But it's on the to do list.Cheers.

  • I put two comments in and got blocked

  • Does it say "pending approval or blocked"? It should say Comment pending approval.Let me know what it says. Cheers.

  • Am i blocked

  • No, not blocked. The comments setting has been put on approval setting. That way time wasters & nasty comments etc won't get shown. Just check your videos settings & you'll see where that bit is. Regards. Cheers.

  • How many new 125 you got and how good are they. ? Cheers

  • Just the one ( Virgin trains).Excellent model.Cheers

  • Do you have one of the new hornby 125,if you have what they in comparison to old model.thanks

  • Yes, just sent you 2 video's of them via personal message bit thingy.Compared to the old model the new one is light years a head of it.Well worth getting.I also have the lima one but that's no way any thing like the new Hornby one.Cheers.

  • One of the advantages of just country side is you can use it for different eras, especially if you like older diesels and modern electrics, but i suppose sticking with diesel eras is easier as you dont need overhead electricfication what u think.

  • Good idea. Thing is my fleet covers a few different era's so i'll say pick blue BR period one day, then maybe current period the next.Cheers.

  • You would not think im 42, i still regret going n guage because of DCC chip fitting and loss of detail,do like look of new hornby hitachi train but im going to be careful and play it safe and just do a couple of main lines in the country so i can get away without large stations, have u got a new 125

  • I know what you mean with the N gauge for fitting decoders. New Hornby hitachi train I a wait with intrest to see it. Like your idea about your layout. I'll send you a couple of videos of my HST (new Hornby one).Cheers.

  • Ps iain i wish i could watch video,s on mobile as no computer.

  • I'll have to look at the settings, I'll see if I can figure out what needs changing, Cheers.

  • Hi iain hows thanks for video of 125 with sound ,you making a man envious, sound and weathering ,am nearly tempted to go oo again as i love the new 125,on the other hand i did get a brand new kato eurostar for xmas off dad,but 125 are nice, hope alls well highspeed

  • Wow Kato EuroStar very nice. Cracking model that, as Wallace & grommet would say!! Still along way to go with this layout, have two video's that will be going live this evening all been well. Think you may just like them Cheers.

  • Great new layout,

looking forward to seeing the top deck when it's completed, judging by the amaount of boxes you have you must have an extremely large collection,

    great video

    5*

  • Many thanks mate. My collection is about 32 years & counting now. A lot of them still have to make their début on here. Thing is now trying to remember what's in half them boxes :-) Work still progressing on the lower level at the moment. Two videos more to go live this evening, think you may like what's coming up next. Cheers.

  • great vid, those coaches look nice! this is the lower section, will the top section be just directly fitted on top of it our a different baseboard setup? cheers

  • The upper section will be completely different base boards braced off the wall etc above this lower level. Just laying the DC test track at the moment.Cheers.

  • love the bridge but my layout is not big enough or maybe it is. im going to extend it when i get money. i thought about getting a few pasting tables strengthin it so we don't have to build tables again.

  • Nice video mate. Are they the new coaches u got for xmas?

    5*

    cheers

  • Hi mate, yes that's correct. This was their very 1st ever run too. Do you remember when we saw two of the real ones at peak rail? Like to fit some model folk in them, but not sure weather to or not as these are ltd ed.

What you reckon, should i fit them out with people or leave them as they are??

    Cheers

  • Think so but wernt they blue??

Re people, if they were mine then as they are ltd ed then no, non ltd yes as they cam make another re-run in the future, but its up to you at the end of the day.

    Cheers

  • Some coaches was but there was some of these ex-kyle line coaches there.I'll see if I can find you the pics i took. Think good advice there mate, I'll leave them as they are. Cheers.

  • Looking very good 5*

  • Cheers.

  • nice one, that bridge look brilliant have you painted it? in the picture on hornbys website the bits that are supposed to be metal are grey but yours are blue

  • Loving the 37, I now have my first 37. Looks great

    5*

  • Great stuff, which 37 have you got? Many thanks & cheers.

  • yeh nice one! i had mine out yesterday on a snooker table lol. still trying to think of something permanent.

  • Would the loft in your place, be the solution for the layout's location? Cheers.

  • it probably could but theres soo much rubbish up there from like ever since i was a baby - all the old xmas present boxes, old toys, clothes etc. would take a long time to sort out but its worth it. just gotta spend a holiday sortin it out. my dads reluctant tho lol. my m8 came n saw it and said do it on a hinge from my wall. again my dads reluctant as he thinks it would mess up the wall lol.

  • oh cool! i want to buy that train! but, i',m in america. i got sound trains too. but thney are american.

  • Hey Iain, Im not sure if have already commented because i cant see what i said...

  • YAY HQ! that bridge is emense awsome vid

  • Phew I'd thought we'd lost HQ, glad it's back. I'd seen the idea used in my local modal shop & on a Model rail garden "oo" layout. I think it adds a little extra fun to the layout. Cheers.

  • Nice Iain, She sounds amazing.

Cant wait till your layout is complete( all the track is layed)

    Thanks

    Reece

  • It'll take a while to do, but will give me the chance to do plenty of update videos. I think it sounds great. Could just let it sit there all day &listen to it ticking over :-) cheers.

  • 5* great vid like the coaches and the 37. the layout is looking good

  • Many thanks. The coaches are ltd ed & i think are now sold out. By the way the Hornby DCC on board sound loco's work ( with limited functions) on DC( full functions on DCC) Cheers.

  • looks good...

  • Many thanks, Cheers.

  • That 37 does sound good. Nice layout too!

  • Thank you. Long way still to go with the layout though. How you are doing with your layout? Regards.

  • It is going well, hoping to start on the scenery and second deck of track soon!

  • Great stuff, Hope all goes to plan.Cheers.

  • mint ,will keep looking out fir ur new vids , ps ,nics coaches

  • Many thanks. I think all these coaches have now sold out. Cheers.

  • lookin realy good! was that bridge hard to put up?

  • Not really. It's the Hornby grand suspension bridge, which just clicks together. Two pieces of ducting tube have been used for the two central towers. The bridge towers just slot in side the ducting tube. The ducting tube has been secured to the floor using corner shelf brackets. Cheers.

  • Nice one mate. Keep 'em coming!

  • Many thanks mate.Hows your layout going? Regards.
