  • what are the goddam chodds to this song I'm getting frustrated :(

  • This is an absolutely mind melting performance. All 4 instruments, and furthermore all 4 musicians working together To create a PERFECT FUSION.

  • i love to know the chords to this song

  • You are absolutely right, they are. I've been following the "Jackets" nearly since their inception, I've wintesses a few personnel changes and their sensibility and overall conceptional delivery have remained the best in the craft. The Yellowjackets, especially with William Kennedy in the drummer seat are by far the Greatest we have in this artform. PERIOD!

  • Saw them live in Ronnie Scott's a month ago. Amazing performance.

  • The group where I say Yellowjakets I knew from "Bards of Passage" by Sadao Watanabe. I can listen and am very glad tday.

The member plays the music of adult for a cool feelig. Iam splendid.

  • Bob MIntzer is the man!!

  • Bob Mintzer is a big brain too.He is one of the greatest big band music arranger.

  • Terrific AUDIO, which is "hit and miss" on Youtube.

  • When the melody comes in after the bass solo at 3:38, it's like being plunged into deep, clear, cold water. Wow.

  • @Jadyellow8 Slaaaaaaaaaaaassssssh! Ooooooh that's lovely!

  • best jazz band!

  • haha gota love how he set up the strings on that base^^D

  • @ericssonro Looks like a standard righty 6-string being played by a lefty. I definitely feel for lefty players; it seems your only options are to either pay through the nose for a lefty model (if you can hunt one down), or learn to play righty.

  • @bricknuts Yeah, Funny how Haslip plays left handed on a bass that's strung right handed, and Will Kennedy sits at a "right handed" drum set but sort of plays left handed.

  • These guys are my favorite jazz band. The drummer is absolutely amazing...

  • I love these guys, damn I do.

  • EXCELENTE BANDA, UUUUUUUUUUUFFFFFFFFFFFF!!!!!!

  • Jimmy is not Alain Caron...but is good!

  • 6 Strings the wrong way round on a left hand bass, thats got to be awkward to get your head around, if ever you need to switch instruments in a giffy!!!!! Groovy....

  • daje cazzo, dajeeeeeeeee...

  • I love this band Yellowjackets !

  • This song is so fine. Will Kennedy's drumming is precise, subtle and groovy. I love the piano at the beginning and the huge bass and sax sound when they go into the chorus. What a beauty.. just....damn...

  • is jim going fretless?

  • @strwy2hvn94

    He's played a fretless since 20 years +....

  • The album is Run For Your life

  • nice ! です.

  • i somewhat agrees with gurrathes, but the group didn't take off till will kennedy came

  • Bob i great, but Marc!!!!!!!!!!

  • I need therapy....I really do not like Yellowjackets-please help me get a diagnose.

  • absolutely the best..........................

  • superb composition

  • trading 5's??

  • Damn! What a hell of a Tenor sound Bob Mintzer has. And that Bass player singing along during his solo, Awesome!!

  • i spent the whole day trying to find the sore/lead sheet for this.. does anyone know where i could happen to find that

  • Does anyone know which album this song is from?...I need to know.

    Thanks!!

  • It's the second cut from 'Run For Your Life' and also features Robben Ford on guitar.

  • @SPTAH can you upload the studio version? i love robbens solo on it^^ thx for posting this one. just great

  • Runferyerlife

Thats the studio album, but this live version kicks so much ass. The studio version of Jacket Town is unreal though. Its one of my favorite fusion tunes.

  • @THETRUTHISLIKESOAP THE ALBUM IS rUN FOR YOU LIFE

  • @THETRUTHISLIKESOAP Run for Your Life

  • Yo Vstyle, I was responding to someone else who was joking bout Lionel Richie. Was not meant as a joke when I said that Lionel was Sax player, because he really is and or was with The Commodores.

  • LIONEL RICHIE, Really is a Saxplayer! WOW, I hear a serious Brecker (Steps Ahead) feeling here! I love it.

  • PAHAA!!! LIONEL RICHIE!!!!! YOUR TOO FUNNY. THATS GOOD imma HAVE TO USE THAT ONE!!!!

  • i agree @ gianistoian ,i am 55 but stil love this band^^

  • magnefique

  • this is the most sensible and elegant jazz group in all history. thats my opinion

  • very well said - and I agree

  • I didn't know that Lionel Ritchie was a sax player -;)

  • Jimmy should get a mic so we can hear him grunt properly.

  • they are all really great guys in person too :)

  • This song and Relevation...relaxs me like NO other songs...reminds me of my Mom (RIP)...

  • i love these guys, this is such an awesome peace-song, 10/10

btw is there a live vid on youtube for 'jacket town' by these guys?

  • Very peaceful song

  • bob looks dead but still plays like noones buisness... crazy...

  • Band is not the same without Will Kennedy behind the drumkit. He plays with Lee Ritenour now.

  • Will is back in the chair. Marcus moved on!

  • @Rhodesman88

For real? Time to start buying YJ records again!

  • Amen, Aleluyah, all the saints marching on!!

  • Great Playing!

  • Peace, Love,to all.

  • I agree with you

  • That's a true peace-music...

  • Yeah man, tight rythm, huge saxophone sound. It's a groovy, beautiful song

    peace

  • Marcus Baylor joined in the early 2000's. The drummer from 1988 to 1999 was Will Kennedy. That is who is playing drums. :)

  • Great great video! Stereo sound's great! THANK YOU FOR THIS.

Jimmy Haslip and Russell Ferrante are my fav on this group, but anyway Bob and Marcus (who for some reason isn't here) are just amazing musicians as well.

  • Обажаю этот коллектив и особенно басиста!!!!!! РЕСПЕКТ!!

  • Love these Guys--Talented Jazz --Pros!!

  • What mouthpiece is Mintzer using in this video?

  • Tenor Saxophone Setup

Selmer Mark 6 Tenor Saxophone 56,000

Freddie Gregory 7 Star Mouthpiece (ebonite)

    Olegature Ligature

    Oleg key modifications

Van Doren V16 Tenor Saxophone Reeds 3½

  • he's using a metal mouthpiece in this video

  • its a metal ottolink.

  • i was thinking guardala

  • Beautiful bass solo and wonderful song! 5 Stars!

  • Yay Bob!

  • Bobs the man .

  • Yes this is good composition

  • Wonderful clip! But you all forget the Big Brain of the group: Russell Ferrante! He´s the one who´s often arrange and write the wonderful songs... So amazing on keys. But as an bass player my self i love Haslips play too! Loves Yellowjackets since i first heard them in the 80:s.

  • 2:08 seems to be Haslips only burning fast lick. I've heard him use it in a couple different songs and I dont know of anything else he plays that ripping...love the band. Correct me if im wrong

  • I especially like them with Will on the drums. Could you post "Invisible People"... track #8 on Greenhouse. The audio sucks on the only one that's posted.

    - thanks

  • This is my favorite group

  • i love it with bob mintzer, there's no bullshit, just great great jazz - his playing is monstrous!! what a group x

  • i never noticed that jimmi haslip used the strings backwards

  • is it backwards or does he have the whole bass flipped upside down so he can play left handed....

  • the strings are backwards, see the volume knob and tone, they are where they should be :)

  • He used to play basses flipped i believe, but then he just started playing lefty basses with the strings backward.

  • The Yellowjackets are one of my favorites. They remain extremely consistent in both their writing/arrangements and their performance! Thanks for sharing this one.

  • To enable stereo add &fmt=18 to the end of the above URL.

  • my favorite 4 all of time

  • The Best...

  • Bob Mintzer has absolutely beautiful sound. I heard him live and it was great. And this song is so nice and smooth. Thanks for uploading.

  • Great tune. Mintzer is one of the greats. His

    intonation is incredible.

  • Bob Mintzer has the most beautiful sax sound that I've ever heard.

  • oh my god.. bob mintzer is SO UGLY ((: .. but he plays the sax so beautifully.. nice full tenor sound! great video!

  • Man, behave

  • Love this song..wish Robben Ford was here with them playing becoz the album version was just mind blowing!Jackets no doubt, hats off!

  • Love this song. It was written in dedication to the late keyboard player Richard Tee. I miss Will Kennedy.

  • I miss him too, but then I started listening to Marcus and just can't get enough of him! Two different styles, both big drummers

  • I love the way these guys play off each other.

  • best band in the world
