Irelands unionists have engaged in butchery, beastiality and unhinged barbarity. God knows their evil is comparable only to that of Hitlers henchmen and Stalins shock troops. They unionists are shunned by their fellow Irish, loathed by the British and laughed at by Americans. The red headed stepchild of Europe. Send the filth to Siberia and let the bastards work for a living.
I have a grand idea. Northern Ireland is British, and the people want to stay British. SO why not let them. You have the Republic, that is where all you Republicans should be. You are the real ones who cause all this trouble, not the Loyalists. They just want to stay with the UK. You have tried for nearly 100 years and still it is British, and it will stay that way. I dont undertsand why you Republicans think you know whats best for the people of NI, cause quite frankly, you don't.
Police have ruined the peace in Northern Ireland by being soft on criminality, Police let scums bring havoc to the streets of Ulster . Police must slap the kids hard around the ear hole, this will teach them to behave themselves. I want paramilitary murals to be taken down immediately or i will lock up former prisoners for next 60 years in hard labour camp. No body wants to go back to war.
@inkpotholder I know! The thought of another nation ruling over me is terrifying. A nation with a different political and religous system, a different culture. I would feel so alienated, perhaps even less valued. Most of all, threatened.
Wait, that's probably what motivated the Republicans...
Glad you agree. The terrorist IRA grew up in a British Nation, it was not taken away from them so they do not know anything of being ruled by a new country, they were taught their hatred. My Catholic friends who have grown up in our british nation of Northern Ireland do not harp on about days when generations before them 'owned'
Ireland. Can you imagine a group of scandinavians living in England trying to claim they should rule because they once 'owned it'.
@inkpotholder I don't necessarily agree with your anecdote. The Danes were eventually driven out of the British Isles, with the remaining settlers eventually being assimilated into the Native Culture. The same happened in Ireland, with many Danish settlers assuming Irish surnames and the native language.
Britain squandered any potential for ammicable relations in Ireland by developing a culture of marked divison. This mis-management spurred Nationalism and an Irish idendity.
oh how horried how evil people can be to each other my heart breaks for the children who live there please just stop and grow up you people are so nasty to each other if you cant except each others religions then just shut up you have no right to kill because of any reason no way act like a man suck it up and go home get off the streets just learn how to be kind grow up make a nice example for the kids not the nasty you are teaching them PLEASE
i thought id seen it all but was rudely awakened in the late 90s i watched "grown men" throw bricks+bottles+verbally abuse young primary kids going to holy cross school..never forget that..shocking
im an irish cathloic, but personally i think all sides are to blame. The British, the Unionists and the republican nationalists all killed innocent people in the name of a better future. But look what i did you ireland, it made it look like some warzone in a third world country!!!! nonviolence is the best poicy.
This is decent. I got nostalgic about my childhood and searched for "The Troubles." Man that brings back some awful memories. Rocks thrown at my head while walking to school, car bombs, the house being raided for no reason, etc. Yeah, we fled to America. Being Irish Catholic in Ulster was not very fun. To boot, we immigrated to Northern Ireland from the Republic of Ireland which was a huge mistake.
a funny thing in the troubles was that the SAS were using riot shields they had used in aiden which had stop written in arabic on them which was pretty useless
@deargdoom07 The footage is old archive footage and its not possible for me to get much better quality. I have however done a new version with different music that I will post soon.
@whythewar1 What the hell do you mean more believable? The believability of this is not brought into question, its actual archive footage showing the Unionist hate machine in motion.
I can't believe you people. The video is showing the biggotry and sectarism created by a corrupt Government who understood nothing about Ireland, and the Unionist lapdogs they put in charge so they wouldn't have to dirty thier own hands. Catholics in the North didn't start a religious war. It was forced upon them by Loyalists extremists who have behaved like Islamic fanatics through-out thier time on our Island.
angels77100, you're talking complete shit and you know it. it's people like you who incite hatred and cause conflict. you obviously aren't very well educated on the facts of the subject matter, so why embarrass yourself by making stupid and misguided remarks? and to make out that catholics in the north are innocent while loyalists are wholly to blame is unforgivable! both sides are guilty of causing murder and mayhem in northern ireland - surely this fact isn't lost on you?
McChunkers. We are all Victims. Firstly of British brutality, then Loyalist victimisation. I don't incite hatred as you put it. I'm merely commenting on the Video, which speaks for itself. In these days of advanced communication, no longer shall a people be suppressed without the world acknowledgement. No longer shall a corrupt Government be allowed to oppress and enslave a civilised people. Ireland unfree shall never be at peace.
oh dear - someone has been hit with the old 'michael collins' syndrome... your initial comments imply that you are justifying the disgusting actions of active republicans during the very worst times. fair enough, the british government never acted with all due fairness throughout this time, but does that justify the slaughter of innocent civilians and pensioners? i take it that the actions of the british government or loyalists during this time has affected you personally?
Of course it has affected me personally. And still continues to do so. RUC = 90% protestant = 100% Loyalist. PSNI = 78% Protestant = 100% loyalist. I am disgusted by your claims that I justify Republican murders. I deplore all Murder carried out in the name of the Irish people. Those people don't represent us. Provos plant devices against British military installations on the other side of the city (Derry), Loyalist death squads enter unprotected nationalist area. Provos were a joke.
@mcchunkers How can you blame the Irish people for defending there rights when there country was invaded and ransacked. This is in no way trying to justify the innocent people on both sides who have lost there life and the bombing of innocents by the IRA. Just because it was Britain to invade this peace loving country with out conflict before cause by no other reason but greed some how makes it right!
So who is murdering who today, and who is burning vehicles and Orange Halls today, disrupting main rail services, planting bombs, and causing riots - Its NOT THE BRITISH. Contrary the British have put Roman Catholic Sinn Fein IRA terrorists into Government to try and get a solution. You just can't live in peace can you or give peace a chance. Murdering isn't going to convince anyone that a United Ireland is a solution worth contemplating- it puts your cause further away as any sort of option.
Now houl yerself on here. Why is acquiescence seemingly preferrable to standing up for your rights (in your mind)? We are talking about self-determination. Ireland has one of the world's most beautiful cultures; Ireland has produced more writers and poets per head than any other nation, fact. The British successfully suppressed the Irish culture in the north (and still do; why is it the North does not have an Irish language bill?) I don't advocate violence, but I do live proud enough to die.
I like your response. I agree you should stand up for your rights and I don't advocate violience either. I may not want a United Ireland but I like many aspects of Irish culture. Being British didn't suppress me buying the Tain album in the 70s, listening to Irish music, having family members / friends Irish dancing or me drinking Guinness and using words like craic!. A Victim mentality here? I appreciate there was discrimination on both sides but theres a real chance to sort out now within EU.
Where'd you come to that conclusion? Did the I.R.A. invade anyone? Did they rob people of their culture? Did they commit genocide? Did they seek out to kill innocent people? No, so shut the fuck up.
Of course the I.R.A. have given up on armed struggle, without first aquiring a United Ireland. But you reply to a comment with something completely unrelated because, like pretty much every Loyalist, you're thicker than shit.
i heard a story about a catholic shopkeeper and the IRA kept planting bombs in his shop. most of the time he took the bomb out and British EOD disarmed it but one time the IRA knee caped and killed the man before he could remove the bomb
Who was that? When did this happen? Where? 'Cause I heard a story about a reindeer with a red nose who was ostracised, but went on to gain a lot of popularity.
To be killed by the I.R.A. his collaboration would have to go much farther. Lots of people in the Troubles called E.O.D. and what not and the I.R.A. wouldn't have punished them in any way. If the I.R.A. killed everyone who thwarted an attempted bombing then there'd be thousands dead.
the brits are a joke? thats why u ran from us then ae u dirty irish feeninan bastard go die u tattie pickin CUNT!!!!! btw am scottish, just so people dont think oh hes british means hes enlgish am scottish and british and hate those dirty irish rebel scum. long live northern ireland, it is and always will be british, the way they want it to be. so fuck off u dirty rebellious irish scum!!!!
@irishbuy nationalists got there rights in the 70`s fool........ they fought on for a United Ireland and failed ........................ Why should i support a free Ireland ????
wrong choice of word's and in the term's of moving on britiain has moved on it's those stupid farmer's the IRA who cause all the trouble and the idiot's on the internet yes it is in the past you should tell the IRA that it's in the past i'm sure that they would agree (in a million years)
what feat's have ireland done in the last 40 year's may i ask?
i remember being with my friend when she got a phone call from her mum telling sayin that her dad had just been killed we were children it wasnt fair.
both sides lost alot of people and everyone lost someone so personally i really hope it never happens again, at school i have friends that arnt the same religion as me and were perfectly happy and i dont no what i would do if we wernt friends.
I can understand if you disagree with me but this is only what i think.
i think that everyone has there own reasons to support which ever side there on be it catholic or prodestant but everyone still has to look at it from the others point of view.
Those people who have said in the comments above about wanting the troubles to come back dont understand what it was like to be in the middle of everything, it was terrifying i never want to be back there again.
lol ye whos going to make them the IRA oh wait there totally detroyed with few members left and you irish army of wait that's like 10,000 troops we have 430,000 troops well ye shu ya fucking mouth you extremest fucker
ulster is british always will be. if you love ireland then go and live in it . hope you enjoy all the attention that the priests gives you .catholic scum.
haha Protestant Cunt, your religion was created by a man who defied the pope so he could have multiple sexual relations, sometimes with little girls. Sit on that you dirty cocksucker.
Don't even try to argue with me your big nose and bad teeth.
If he is Sectarian enough to make such sick comments you shouldn't encourage him by lowering yourself to his level, and being Sectarian yourself. There is nothing wrong with the Protestant faith.
no that was church of england not prostestant there diffrent things protestant was made in germany while church of england was in england there not the same thing you fool
Ulster is irish, ireland belongs to the irish, for 800 years britain murdered, raped, stole from and oppressed the irish people and when we fight back were called terrorists.
personly these comments are wriiten by ignorant idots who dont have a clue about what i what my family and what nearly every northen irish person had to go through this isnt ireland versus britain this is terror this is fear this is death of what people had to go through so dont write a fucking comment in which you had now fucking idea is about or how people fucking feel
England has the highest amount of oestrogen in its water and has a wave of paki's and blacks running tribal areas on bradford/birmingham etc. i wouldn't be proud of that !
you'r country has no history it's a tiny tiny ireland in the sea what hapens to be right by the secound most powerful country in the world today you'r nothing but a bunch of dick heads (yes the second most powerful country is britain)
get your facts right morris dancers eh that is england england not fucking britain as a whole .i belong to britain ie scotland and i am bloody sure i dont morris dance.eejit
2nd most powerful country? even the taliban say they arent afraid of the british soldiers but its only when the americans are with them they are scared! russia and china are WAY ahead of the uk!
I'm not secterian either, my problem lays with the folk who want nothing but total victory over unionists on this island, they want the country united and to be quite honest I rekon they dont even know how it will benefit them, they just know that it will mean a victory for them and a defeat for us, then they can come onto youtube again and start their bullshit, the hatred I express is aimed at such people, i'll never give them an inch.
I do smoke spliffs too but it doesnt change my thinking.
How is it nothing to do with the IRA, the fact that the IRA carried out a vast amount of killing over the years only stiffened the resolve of unionists. After all it was the IRA who wanted a united country and the unionists who opposed it.
urg, sorry guys. You know thats all they teach us in schools now (in England). To be sorry. Not that I ever did anything to hurt anyone, but hey ho, thats life I guess.
excellent video, very well done. Good choice of music and i especially like the fact that you kept the audio in the tapes. Also some footage here i havent seen before.
oh and just before anyone gets on their high horse, i am a protestant, i'm just not do-or-die. the fact is, no matter who you're rooting for, innocent people have died as a result of the views and beliefs of of those with their fingers on the triggers. we are none of us God, wise up!
OK guys, lets get something straight. The video is not pro either side it is simply a montage of different clips on the troubles, I am not saying that a certain side is right or wrong, but rather that violence alltogether is wrong. I know the song is originaly about drugs, but it to me its still relevant to this video. No one is forcing you to watch if you do not want to.
lol at cobra's comment. doesn't he see that he, and people like him, are the reason for the huge divides in our country. they still bear the totalitarian, pre-historic views which are keeping us on our knees? i don't expect cobra to understand your method, i mean, check out the last 3 words of his entry, up the UDA lol dear oh dear. he should have starred in it!! well done i say, award worthy.
You got a reaction. You knew by posting footage of a controversial subject you would. Well done. Good for you for standing by a music bed that had nothing to do with the video.
No watched this too much. Johhnny Cash was blowing my brain, this is highly subjective and an inaccurate peice of historical footage. This is allign with "it's a mystery with Roma Downy". Wee birds
Catholics have come so far in the North of Ireland. They are finally off their knees! Theres actually some footage of the Catholic Civil Rights movement in your video - the Protestant policeman attacking the Civil Rights demonstrator. Whats good is that Ireland will have freedom one day. For now, Irish Catholics can live with equal status that they once did not have. Whats best is it is now illegal for Protestants to discriminate against Catholics because of their political beliefs, as they did
Thanks everybody for commenting and debating. I believe that if we want to really be free from sectarianism then we must first understand and accept that people are different and have different believes. Then maybe instead of forcing our believes on others, we can maybe celebrate our diversity together.
Well said! Your rationale is refreshing. As a republican I understand the fears of the unionists towards a United Ireland and believe that only by persuading them peacefully that it is mutually beneficial can there ever be true peace. Calling them huns and things like that is both wrong and unhelpful. Unionists must also recognise the justification for republican anger and rejection of British presence in Ireland.
ive always loved the irony behind Saint Patrick the fact that he was english and kidnaped sold as a slave sent to what was then "Ireland" and when free did his good work there haha love the whole patrin saint or "Ireland" being and Englishman makes me chuckle at some peoples ignorance
He wasnt set free he escaped he was given a message from the lord( he wasnt a mistreaten slave by the way) and ran 200 miles and sailed back to old britian(which were romans and the they couldnt take ireland by the way)and at the age of 42 he came back and fused their druidic beliefs with christianity(Bonfires, the sun behind the cross, the 3 leaf clover as the holy trinity and the four leaf clover as the cross) he was a great man and is celebrated by the irish.
good video.... ireland should be united, but it isn't worth the hate or the violence. without the hate and violence to keep us apart, without the orange order, without seperate schools, ireland would probably be united already
I fully agree with your opinion. However if I may ask, why does the hatred continue between both sides? In every documentary that I watched about the troubles, I could actually "Feel" the bitterness and enmity from both sides.
totally agree with your views on separate schools but the AOH and the politicising of the GAA and irish language have done more to prevent irish unity than the orange order.

To be killed by the I.R.A. his collaboration would have to go much farther. Lots of people in the Troubles called E.O.D. and what not and the I.R.A. wouldn't have punished them in any way. If the I.R.A. killed everyone who thwarted an attempted bombing then there'd be thousands dead.

at the start it was the ruc attacking catholic areas and burning them out of there areas
the people fought back and the fighting got really bad
so the british army where called in first they where loved by nationalists but them hated because they went like the ruc
religion never was the proplem on the nationlaist side
i knew plenty of protestants that are nationalists it was about fighting for rights and a united ireland and to stop the injustice to the people

both sides lost alot of people and everyone lost someone so personally i really hope it never happens again, at school i have friends that arnt the same religion as me and were perfectly happy and i dont no what i would do if we wernt friends.
I can understand if you disagree with me but this is only what i think.

it's the IRA they are keeping this grudge there are ike 200 of them now the trouble is nearly over now
GameMan53 2 years ago
i think that everyone has there own reasons to support which ever side there on be it catholic or prodestant but everyone still has to look at it from the others point of view.
Those people who have said in the comments above about wanting the troubles to come back dont understand what it was like to be in the middle of everything, it was terrifying i never want to be back there again.

WARISHELL09 3 years ago
the main 3 reasons were
1; they thought ireland would be ruled by the pope
2; they feared industry would come 2nd place to agriculture
and 3; they wanted to stay loyal to the crown. so nothin 2 do with the IRA
burkburke 3 years ago
How is it nothing to do with the IRA, the fact that the IRA carried out a vast amount of killing over the years only stiffened the resolve of unionists. After all it was the IRA who wanted a united country and the unionists who opposed it.

oh and just before anyone gets on their high horse, i am a protestant, i'm just not do-or-die. the fact is, no matter who you're rooting for, innocent people have died as a result of the views and beliefs of of those with their fingers on the triggers. we are none of us God, wise up!
purdygr33neyes 3 years ago

Then maybe instead of forcing our believes on others, we can maybe celebrate our diversity together.
everybodysalone 3 years ago
Well said! Your rationale is refreshing. As a republican I understand the fears of the unionists towards a United Ireland and believe that only by persuading them peacefully that it is mutually beneficial can there ever be true peace. Calling them huns and things like that is both wrong and unhelpful. Unionists must also recognise the justification for republican anger and rejection of British presence in Ireland.
nallyterrace 3 years ago 2
the hatred continues cuz we're still not free, it was our land and there will never be peace until we can rule it ourselves

ive always loved the irony behind Saint Patrick the fact that he was english and kidnaped sold as a slave sent to what was then "Ireland" and when free did his good work there haha love the whole patrin saint or "Ireland" being and Englishman makes me chuckle at some peoples ignorance
MrGhost15 4 years ago
He wasnt set free he escaped he was given a message from the lord( he wasnt a mistreaten slave by the way) and ran 200 miles and sailed back to old britian(which were romans and the they couldnt take ireland by the way)and at the age of 42 he came back and fused their druidic beliefs with christianity(Bonfires, the sun behind the cross, the 3 leaf clover as the holy trinity and the four leaf clover as the cross) he was a great man and is celebrated by the irish.

I fully agree with your opinion. However if I may ask, why does the hatred continue between both sides? In every documentary that I watched about the troubles, I could actually "Feel" the bitterness and enmity from both sides.
Torchmark 3 years ago
totally agree with your views on separate schools but the AOH and the politicising of the GAA and irish language have done more to prevent irish unity than the orange order.
