DAVE MCKENNA is my number one favorite jazz pianist. At first I thought that I might be able to imitate him, at least in one or two pieces, like C-Jam Blues and Splendid Splinter. But finally I realized this is impossible for me. I've just thoroughly enjoyed his playing instead. These videos are my limax as I never saw him in person. Where may I buy them? I don't know how to download them from YouTube.
I noticed that he almost doesn't lift his left hand from the keyboard. This way movements are minimal and therefoere quick if necessary, plus he can play a constant legato which enhances swing.
Musicians like Dave McKenna bring the listener a once-in-a-lifetime experience. That's why each minute spent with them is a treasure that cannot be taken from our lives. In fact,he was and still is one of the greatest artists in the history of music. The kindness of his magical sound, caressing warmth of his ballad playing, frenziest drive of his swinging beat - such things happen just once in a lifetime and blossom in our hearts till the very end. Thank You Dave. We'll be loving you - always.
Very sad to hear of Dave's passing yesterday. The end of an era. Thank you Dave for all the wonderful enjoyment you have given me over the years. Duncan
Dave you will always be the all time greatest. Thank you for playing my song at the Algonquin. It was a pleasure to have some ginger ice cream with you again. Nobody can ever compare to you.
Good-bye, much love, Mary from the Wednesday night club.
So am I. I exhausted my words of praise long ago. The feelings evoked by Dave's music can hardly be put into words. All the videos you've put on here vividly confirm that.
Thanks again John for this. I'm running out of words to describe all of these great performances you are putting on here. This I think needs no analysis it simply is something wonderful.
What a great pianist ....

Played in D flat, with five flats. Nice to sustain a left hand beat in that key.
