@trinirasify I will admit that I may have been hasty to paint all public servants with a broad brush, for which I apologise, but certainly one must admit that a large percentage do little to remove the stereotype which is attached to them.

I will agree with you that many Public Servants with higher degrees are paid less than their counterparts in the private sector and they should be rewarded for their academic advancement in society.

I just hope that those protesting workers in the health system know that their action has cost sick persons dearly. I'm not talking about the nurses and doctors (who showed up for work) but the attendants, lab staff, radiographers and others. If doctors were to strike we would be quick to lunge at their throats for "leaving sick people to die". Patients are suffering- no porters to take them to the wards, OT only for emergencies, no lab results being given I hear no one complaining now.

@Therishmeister .....glad u brought that up....I hope the longer this issue is not settled , u realise it is the govt who are putting patients at risk. It is risky to ask workers to continue working in conditions like that. Risky to ask them to work overtime an then not pay becuz the mngt spent out the money. Risky to ask them to work without supplies that the doctors STEAL for their private practice. Risky that they use up lab supplies for patients tests at their private practice.

@supertrini09 I invite you to come forward with evidence of doctors stealing hospital supplies. You are obligated by good conscience to do so. Any such practice is condemned in the strongest terms, but the fact remains that fewer than 5% of doctors in the public hospitals even have a private practice. Painting all with one brush is unfair and mischievous in the least and malicious at worst.

@Therishmeister ......the difference is the docs in my family are honest, & point out to me the truth about what their peers do. Plus since i work in Mt hope, i can see with my own eyes. And as u will no doubt learn as u get older(an hopefully more mature), that reporting it to the management (who are doctors) is pointless...docs cover docs asses all the time...others b4 me have tried an failed

@Therishmeister ......i dont hear anyone complainin about when the very same poorly paid lab tech, porters, nurses, etc, have to dip into their own meagre money to pay for things to do their job becuz they feel sorry for the sick people......meanwhile the doctors needs are the only ones catered for.....quite frankly, in war there is sumtin called acceptable casualties....whoever dies thru the continued stalling of this issue on the part of the govt is the one responsible.......

@supertrini09 my my..you do seem to harbour ill feelings towards doctors...some might even detect a hint of a perceived inferiority complex on your part. It's easy for everyone to blame doctors for everything..people love to smear those that they perceive to be in somewhat higher standing (real or imagined). Might I remind you not to let the actions of the few taint the reality that most doctors are hard-working, and work in the same conditions that all other employees endure.

I faced the hot sun for those 3 days.. ur uninformed judgement appalls me " fair day's work for fair days pay" are u aware that most Public servants of which I am one gets no over time for work carried outside of the normal working hours and I'm not talking about shift workers, And I never asked for compensatory time off. I have colleagues that work day in and out with out a lunch break, and don't talk about the disrespect we face each day from ignorant people.

@FSXaddict5 Do you realise that if public servants get stuck with that ridiculous wage offers, tens of thousands of state employees are also going to be stuck e.g. workers at TTEC, Powwergen, Petrotrin, PTSC, MTS, CDA,, NP, thousands of daily paid workers in the Ministries and the municipalities, teachers, WASA, fire services, prisons, Trinmar, and more. These workers have avested interest in supporting the PSA because they are supporting themselves

@macronutt ....ok, the reason 4 this protest is not to demand $6000 per month min...that is duke talkin....it is a negotiation.....the psa will throw up a high figure...th govt a low fig...they negotiate to somewhere in between. The majority of PS do not want or expect 40% increase, thats just silly....but we certainly didnt expect the CPO to come to the table with 0%0%1% to start to bargain with.......that is ridiculously low
