  • Who disliked this!?

  • what the fuck don't toch me

  • ahh, the hen is really a good mother for protecting the chick.

  • is that a golden campine

  • @Pipipthadudalydo Yes it is!

  • If i got a fertilized chicken egg that hasnt hatched yet and the mother is nowhere to be seen, what do i do to hatch it?

  • @kagamine100len If you wanted to hatch it you would need an incubator. If the mother has sat on the egg before it might be partially formed and would need incubation right away. If the mother has not started to sit on the egg yet you can keep it in a cool dark place (not a fridge... it would be too cold) until you are ready to incubate.

  • @boop145 Thank you for the instructions!

  • she was mad when you lifted up her wing.

  • wow a mother and a chick

  • toasty warm

  • omg!!!

i can't wait until my chickens and rooster grow big

I LOVE MY CHICKENS AND ROOSTER!

    =]

  • Hi. I recently bought a hen at a local farm. How can I tell if she's too old ?

  • when she stops laying i think. I know my oldies still brood, it really depends on the hen as an induvidual i think.

  • Hi

how long can i keep the eggs until chicken is ready to sleep on them .and how and where can i keep the eggs in warm or cold pales?

    Thanks

  • They should stay cool until the hen is ready to sit on them. The outside temperature should be fine --the fridge is a bit too cool. You can keep them for a month or more, but the longer the less likely they will hatch.

  • a hen with a nest leaves the eggs for about 2 weeks till she has around 10~ 14 eggs the she will incubate them. Mine have done this.

  • I have a rooster that might look like that. He's not completly grown.

  • very pretty hen, what type is she?

  • she's a golden pencil hamburg

  • hi there, cute vid! woz wonderin, i have a couple of chicks, which are a month old, i think one is a hen the othr mite be a cock, how can i tell the gender? and how old wud they have to be to have a brood of their own and is there any way in which i cud get them broody? look forward to your reply, thanx!

  • it's pretty tough to tell the gender the only way i know is if the comb is lighter and smaller on one that's the girl and if its bigger and darker that would be your boy, it'll be easy when 1 of them cockadoodles lol. they will be atleast 4 months old when they start to lay eggs. some chickens are bred to be broody and some aren't so that they can lay eggs all the time, it just depends on what breed you have.

  • When they start growing adult feathers, look for pointed feathers in the hackle and saddle. Roosters will have those and hens won't (although Golden and Silver Sebrights are an exception; the roosters are hen-feathered).

  • i heard that chickens get sick which causes a fever and raising the temerature of the hens bodie and she sits on her eggs :D about 3 weeks later ull start to hear chirping

  • i took a very bright flash lite and the egg into a dark room. my mom shook the egg.

there is a black dot always floating to the top. is it dead or alive?

  • nope all it is is the early formation of an eye =) should be alright

  • thankyou. its a tiny bit bigger 2 day

  • =]HAHA!lil ones a proud coc the father must be!

  • Oh, she's gorgeous! I have a Golden Campine roo (who was supposed to be a girl!) and he's wonderful. Hopefully he's going to be a dad this spring. Can't wait to have little ones running around the yard with momma hen :)

  • That mum looks tired rrrrrrrrrrr! LOL

  • aww! the mother is cute! that's why the chicks are so cute too!

  • A silkie is probaly a good choice for a pet melhar23

  • golden campine? beautiful hen. she really is

  • wow you know your hens =) yes she's a beautiful young golden campine.

  • OMG that hen is so beautiful . btw I've a question . do all hens get broody ? I've heard that some special colors don't get broody ever durng their life though they keep having eggs . eh ?

  • Hens that are bred as layers usually have lost the tendency to get broody. Of regular chickens, some get broody more and it just seems like they have a motherly personality or something.

  • Supposing i just want a chicken as a pet..is it going to be a lot of trouble to take care of it ?. I don't want a chicken just for egg production i just want one as a pet. I know it might sound wierd :P..but should i get a chicken as a pet ?. I checked my areas rules..and it is legal to keep them as pets.

  • doesn't sound weird to me because that's the reason we have them =P we have about 30 of them and they're our pets. they're not much trouble they don't need much contact though if you do play with them more they get to be really good pets. when i was younger i had a hen that was basically my best friend, i would carry her everywhere and she wouldn't mind.

  • well thanks for your reply, in about 3 weeks im going to be moving into a house. So a week before i move im going to order the baby chicks and then ill get to making them a nice little chicken coop. I really love animals i thought most people would think im wierd for wanting a chicken as a pet :P. I would play with the chicken when it gets older, i wanted it just to be a companion i geuss.

  • you might want six beaucause it might be a law in ur state

  • nice and big chicken:D

  • =P she's not too big but the chicks are as big as her now =D

  • four chicks(black one yellow one yellow/black and another black one with a brown face). they all hatched now and they are walking and eating now too=D

  • three chicks now :) two black ones and a yellow one with a bit of black.
