I was a new freshman and my boyfriend had graduated high school and was in the Army. I played the whole thing over, and over, and over again as loud as it would go. I missed him so much and these songs reminded me of him. Ah, young love! It brings a smile to my face to hear these songs again and remember a time that was so much more simple.
I to have loved this song ever since I first heard it 30 yrs ago. Had the single for years. Few years ago, I downloaded off Napster and now have it on cd plus my mp3 player. Never knew what he looked like till I saw these videos. And now listened to some of his other songs and they're great. His music may be from the early 80's, but they could have easily been from the early 60's when I grew up.
i love this song .. brings so many memories my first boyfriend (1st love so cute) sang this song to me at a party .. just love it !!!was looking for it for such along time thank you....
This song was on a K-Tel compilation tape I got for Christmas in 1981 (I think) called Certified Gold I was 9 years old and it was my favorite song on there, it is still great!
@gmansi Phil's voice sounds somewhat similar to John's but I definitely agree with you that the song sounds more like something Paul McCartney would do
@tam27868 Yes nowadays they don´t make music like this. But I have to say I preferred D Twilleys songs over P Seymours. Anyway I love this album, it is made in that 70´s style, like Blondie and other great artists.
Great song, shame he died so young and that he only turned out to be a one hit wonder, the song came out in 1980 but wasn't released as a single until early 1981
Could someone far more enlightened than me explain what that grotesque dummy is supposed to represent, at the end of the film clip? It is, however, a wonderful song and the film clip (up until the grotesque dummy) is very well done indeed.
@1redsoxfan1963 Not sure, my friend. Maybe you could google either Dwight Twilley Band. or Phil Seymour, Wikipedia. That's the best I can help you with. God bless, and good luck with your search.
I just checked the OL episode. Looks like the Bradbury is a backdrop for more than just Phil's video, Bladerunner and DWGH. The clincher was the ornamentation of the elevator. Awesome interior! Very distinctive.
wow!! i love this one hit wonder!! such a sad song and melancholy voice to match.unique voice Phil had.. almost late 50's/early 60's sound. I don't recalled ever seeing this video. thank you so much :) I was a teenager when this song was released. too bad his life ended so young.
@lacviet I always loved the song also because it had a beautiful retro sound to it. The harmonies are simple but yet profoundly rich and compelling in its delivery and style.

This is a cute, infectious pop song and I like it... but PLEASE folks... don't compare it to the Beatles.

great power pop tune, I can picture The Beatles doing this song if they have gotten together sometime around 1980

I can picture John Lennon doing this song, Phil Seymour does sound a bit like John Lennon.

"Precious To Me" reached #22 on the Billboard pop chart in 1981. Not a huge hit, but it got modest Top 40 airplay across the US.
ChargingWildebeest 10 months ago
When I've first read the title of this song I actually pictured it being a soft rock ballad, not a uptempo power pop tune

@MooBoo1979 that dummy is really weird, but it adds to the mesmerizing effect of the video. phil was ahead of his time.

Thought that building interior looked familiar. Was it also used in the 1960s sci-fi series THE OUTER LIMITS episode Demon with a Glass Hand?

@zanti209 That's the Bradbury Building in downtown Los Angeles..it was built iin 1893, and is still in use today.
