As much as I have always loved Bonnie's version; Nancy's sexy, jazzy, sensual presentation takes my mind and heart on a deep and passionate journey. It is amazing to me how she has maintained her gift for so many years. Her sultry voice and her visual beauty has defied the test of time. No one can deny that she is a master at making one feel every word that she so eloquently phrases. She has definately earned the title "Queen of Class".

This version totally eclipses all other. No contest. Her voice, the emotion and the superb orchestral arrangement cannot be beaten. I adore it. Particularly how she pauses at the "if you don't" part. Marvellous phrasing by true talent.

The slower tempo makes it a sadder song, the sentiment fits more than the Raitt's version. Then again the superb rendition of the 'Power Vocal Acrobat with a strong musical sense that never seems to age' puts it somewhere high.

I love Bonnie for giving us this song. I love love love love love Nancy for singing it. I first heard this song when I bought the album Love, Nancy in the 90s. It is an awesome album. If you like Nancy singing about the joy and pain of love to strings -- then BUY the album.
