Thank you for allowing not only other West African people tap into their cullinary routes, but for westerners aswell like myself to learn and enjoy the wonderful cuisine!
Nice, I really enjoyed the video. I will try to make this, my last effort at making jollof rice failed. I am a little hesitant to put raw curry powder. In Jamaica one is taught to always sautee the powder.
This looks so clean and good to eat and make. I think we have a new project, thanks for this easy to follow tutorial! I'd rather make this than fry my food lol
You should've showed how to back the chicken and sauce you put on it. Did you bake the chicken separately. Other than that, I enjoyed watching the video.
the camera man is a stupid idiot he never showed how the sause looks he jusr filmed from one angle and did not show in the pot therefore he is an idiot
Whenever I make jollof rice I can't get the ratio of rice and the stew right. Also can you make a video on how to make moi moi. I made moi moi for the first time and I think I get crayfish happy when I'm making it so the color is a little dark. I dont' know when to stop.
Food Network Tv should give you your own tv show cause you are so vibrant and so easy to understand.. Love your cooking shows and website.. Will try your other great dishes soon!! God Bless
i must say your presentation is wonderful i know how to cook jollof rice but never could get it to not be all the way dry and your steaming process was a nice tip. i will use that and definitely let you know how it turns out when i cook it for my mum and brother who are coming to the states from Nigeria who want to eat Nigerian food:)
Hello Yeti! First of all I want to say that your video series are the most comprehensive and the production values are professionally executed. Job well done.
You are also very classic and professional. I love your delivery and your cooking methods produce the most appealing flavors. Please keep the series going. It takes time to build a good following and who knows you may have your own show on Food Network. Use this as your audition tape. I know Edet Okon did you can too!
@paconot Thank you for the compliments and kind words! A BIG thank you for being my 1000 Subscriber. We will continue to work hard to earn your continued support.
@MISSLADYLOVEDLB2008 Thanks for your comments. The recipe can be found on our site, Afrofoodtv and check under the chicken recipe section under the name Yassa Poulet. We also have a video on this sauce available on the website as well.
I have done Ghanaian Jollof Rice I think it is nice. I like that you have done this recipe in video and it's not nice that people are disrespecting your recipe every 1 dose it different if you don't like it don't watch it
Wow, I want see how you cooked those collard green. It seems like a saute..those greens are hard to make soft. Are yours still crunchy? I am making Jollof rice for thanksgiving but want to make a smaller pot because it will not get eaten. I am considering your recipe because the ingredients will not break my bank! Thank you for posting this video. I am Black American who is wanting to know more about African cuisine. I am reading Ben Okri and he mentions eguis, pepper soup and jollof rice. Yum!
@yemonja100 The collard were sautéed and still a little crunchy but if you want a softer texture, try using the frozen variety, thawed and squeezed dry and continue with the saute. I am glad to hear you are considering our recipe, bute any recipe you choose one thing is for sure, you will have a wonderful dish! I enjoy Ben Okri's work as well! You have great taste in reading and food! Be sure to keep it up! Happy Thanksgiving!
where can I find the list of ingredients and do you have the directions written somewhere so I can follow them while Im cooking? great video!! looking forward to trying it ...oh and one more question ...where is the chicken recipe? thank you!
@leslieebony We have a recipe for the Jollof rice on our afrofoodtv website under the recipes-staple section. The Chicken video will be released soon. The recipe for the chicken is also on the Afrofood site under the chicken recipe section. Enjoy and thanks for watching!
Your camera work is wonderful, however could you please be more detailed, I do not know how to make roasted bell peppers, and I would like more details on the measurements. with salts and pepper flakes, I am new at cooking African meals.

Thanks so much for sharing your recipes Ms. Yeti....you have exceptional cooking and explanation skills and I love the way all your recipes turn out so well:-) yum yum!!! I am from Kenya and I am cooking this particular Jollof rice meal tonight for my friends....
ummm bell peppers aren't the reason why jollof rice is orange its because of the tomatoes. I'm Ghanaian and yeah red bell peppers aren't even necessary
@MrFut23 Thanks for your comment. Tomatoes offer a lighter orange color but the red bell peppers deepens the color. Our Jollof rice recipe calls for the red bell peppers.
I'm Ghanaian too my little sister was born in canada and hates spicy foods ...... basically my mom makes the jollof for her with no peppers in it and it looks just like what me and the rest of the family eat. its the tomatoes that give it that colour the peppers is just for flavour @AfroFoodTV
I been laughing when I was watching this video. Not because it is bad but because I just realised that I been cooking jollof rice all my life and I didn't even know it.
hey! i absolutely <3'd your way of making it especially by adding the collard greens aka efo good job just wanted to know what song was that @ the ending playing in yoruba? i <3 'd it i was hilarious i just wanna know the name and artist so i can get the song thanx & keep up the great cuisine very few Nigerians eat healthy with vegetable with their meals!!
I love the way you project yourself in your videos! I hope you get a show on foodnetwork or any of the other shows on tv. I will be trying this recipe! Thank you
ermm...thanks for this but we need a high camera angle shot (of an ECU) of what you're cooking in the pot ooo. Nevertheless, thanks.
p.s: Mum said if you put uncooked rice like you just did, it will burn! (Except parboiled or basmati rice). I guess every family has their own style. *sigh* Oh well.
I am a neat freak and your kitchen is neat - but your pots dont do your kitchen justice. And also I am west african too and i have taught a lot of my american friends how to cook this, Its easier when you h ave all your ingredients in a bowl set aside and put it in one at a time - A B C teaching. You mentioned they have to have a right amt of water, well how are they suppose to know the right amount. It would be nice if you teach with measuring cups - everybody loves Jollof Rice
Thank you for allowing not only other West African people tap into their cullinary routes, but for westerners aswell like myself to learn and enjoy the wonderful cuisine!
