Those weren't Palestinians. Palestinians are descendants of Bedouins and various non-Arab Muslim subjects of the Ottoman Empire. The people Abraham met were Canaanites, which intermarried with the Hebrews and subsequently followed Abraham's religion. There's no place in the Bible that mentions "Palestinians" - that word's origin is Greece and was applied by the Romans to the area, many centuries after the Bible's origin, and it didn't refer then to Arabs or Muslims (no Islam then).

Those weren't Palestinians. Palestinians are descendants of Bedouins and various non-Arab Muslim subjects of the Ottoman Empire. The people Abraham met were Canaanites, which intermarried with the Hebrews and subsequently followed Abraham's religion. There's no place in the Bible that mentions "Palestinians" - that word's origin is Greece and was applied by the Romans to the area, many centuries after the Bible's origin, and it didn't refer then to Arabs or Muslims (no Islam then).

I think the Israeli government should just tell these settlers that come 2015, their Israeli citizenship will be revoked if they remain in Palestine. After that, they will have to apply for Palestinian citizenship and be subject to the mercy of that country's government. Israel can re-absorb this population and settle them in the Negev; they've transformed desert into productive farmland before.

'Sacred Landscape' is an interesting book by Meron Benvenisti, a former deputy mayor of Jerusalem. In its pages Benvenisti details how as a child in the late 1940s he accompanied his father who was then chief geographer for the Israeli government -- traveling around Palestine cataloging place names on what maps were then available: names of hills, towns, villages, streams, etc. Later, an Israeli government committee erased all Arab names from the maps replacing them with Hebrew names.

The reporter's comment at 3:31, "You have no connection with this land in terms of your immediate family." So what? People immigrate from one country to another all the time; just because you weren't born in a certain place doesn't mean you have no right to be there.
Palestinians frequently argue for the "right of return" for the descendants of refugees who fled in the 1948 war. If Palestinians have the right to return to land they were forced from, then why shouldn't Jews have the same right?

however what he ignores is that, regardless of any historical precedent or international decree, there are two peoples in Eretz Israel- the Israelis *and* the Palestinians. and they both have a right to live on their own land and have a state of their own. therefore the two-state solution is necessary, even if it does contravene the balfour declaration
