I'd also like to say that the part in the beginning where child soldiers are on ships, heading to the beach to go to war reminds me a helluva lot of Final Fantasy 8. Cool stuff...

I also like this episode because we actually see more of Ox Ford, Kiriko, Kim and their partners. I like seeing them, because they're unique and cool in their own ways.

No, they had to start ALL OVER again. That means, after eating Blair's soul, they had to get another 99 and a witch soul.

In the comic, the last soul they get is Arachne's. The anime is very different from this point on, and someone else takes her soul. I won't tell you who, but it's pretty interesting.
