The big difference maker in this video was the DSG in the R32. Every gearchange the slower R32 catches the faster S3. Had this been a manual R32, it would've lost badly.

@Steffo290 im ok with you the golf catches the S3 in the moment to change the gears because of the DSG !! i have a A3 2.0tdi the 170hp and a race some times vs my friends cooper s with automatic gear box and when i change the gear he beat me and at the he have 184hp i finish like the r32 in this video but if i have the dsg i think i will beat it !!

same engine same speed in both cars just slight refinements made to s3 there both equaly good lets leave it at that

They are different engines. The R32 has a 3.2ltr v6 n/a whereas the S3 has a 2ltr turbo. On paper the S3 should be quicker but not by much. I am actually thinking of buying one of these two cars but in my own opinion it comes down to "character" and you just can't beat the sound of that V6, no matter what exhaust you put on the audi it just snds dull (my opinion). I also know the 2ltr engine in the S3 which uses direct injection (fsi) is prone to carbon build up and mis-fires which isn't good.

@DonJohannsen You're quire right.. It's actually a "VR6" which basically means a more compact narrow angled row of cylinders tilted at 15 degrees as opposed to the more usual 45 degrees but it is still effectively a v6.

notice how the distance between the cars reduces when the s3 has to change gear...that's because the r32 has a dsg gearbox....while the s3 has to deal with a manual one...i guess...

actually thats how an r32 sounds, exhaust flapper opens up for more flow and louder sound at high rpm and speed. i think s3 driver just sucks hardcore at driving. good race, you can tell s3 has more hp cuz at highest rpm's it pulls away
