i've remarked on BC's emotional and intellectual impact on me for years.
Tony and Mark are really two of the most remarkable musicians you will ever hear. Technical strong, rock solid, innovative, flexible. THey flow. Tony's bass never fights a song and Mark never drives it - he coordinates with the guitar and vocal harmonies. I love BC for their technical brilliance too. Only Rush can compare.
I remember well when I first heard this song. It really affected me, more than many of the brilliant songs that came before. It was hopeful, but also melancholy. It is so honest, a plea to be heard, to be noticed, to be embraced. But it can fall on deaf ears. I never saw this live. And yes, it hurts. Every day.
I love this song and I love this live version. Tony's backing vocals add to it too. The musicianship by all here is superb, particularly towards the end. The lyrics are top drawer too. Anyone who likes this track too should check-out Sina Poltorak's beautiful cover version on this site, which is well worth listening to.
Terrific stuff! I was lucky enough to see Big Country several times over their entire career. No Gimmicks/lights or lasers, just great music from first to last. At Shepherds Bush on this, their last tour they were brilliant. Sorely missed indeed. Thanks Isabella for posting it.
listen as Stuart is just introducing the song, a guy shouts "Stuart" and Stuart replies "what", the guy shouts back "stay alive" and Stuart replies with "i'm trying te"
Just thought that this was a bit poignant as it seems maybe Stuart was struggling a bit even at this stage of his life. R.I.P. big man, I'll never forget you, and was was always a pleasure meeting you.
Love this song. I dont know why not so many ppl know who Big Country is. Just look at this Views, 735. Strange. Well Bc is my favorite band. Love their music.
This is Stuarts last gig in Big Country. Shortly after he left BC and started a new solo group, I think people thought he was just on a break and would eventually come back to settle down just like Mark B did after a few years of absence. Stu never find it in his heart to come back though, instead he tragically took his own life and was found dead in a hotel room on the 16th of December in 2001.
Ladies, I agree with you. We obviously feel the same about Stuart, and it is difficult to say the very least to watch this gig. Isabelle, I really appreciate your work here and your passion. Yours too stayalive378!!
Yes i understand what you mean , he wasn't really himself at this gig, but the wonderful lyrics and the music always touch my heart. This song is powerful.Stu is our hero forever!...

Dive into me, into the raging sea
Follow your heart, down where it's deep and it's dark
Dive into me, into the healing sea
Put your life into my hands and take the chance
Dive into me
