Yes, that is the moldboard and the ribs are emt conduit so you can bend the arch. It's a little harder to weld, but it keeps the weight down and handles the load. and yes they are windshield washer antifreeze jugs,
I live in Northern Missouri.
I have since built a heavier blade that pushes from the swing arm underneath of the bike. It is a lot easier on things. I also installed heated grips this year ...... I highly recommend them :)
Working on a similar project. Did you use a blue plastic barrel/drum for the blade? ( Is that what you're calling moldboard?) If so, how is it holding up? What did you use to brace it? I was thinking of using angle iron cut and bent, then welded to reinforce the cuts.
Great job, by the way, what state do you live in? Here in Utah we get a really light snow (easy pushing) usually. This year, however, not much snow at all.
They are 20x12x11 Hole shots ..........they are not worn out ......Dude, that's a lot of snow for a 300 sport bike! I have cable chains on them this year because we have already had over 25 inches of snow !!! I have a set of 22x12x11 Wooly Bugers, that would give me more ground clearance and traction, But I need a set of rims to mount them.
@nick89gm What are you talking about? Mine is a 300 Kawasaki Lakota Sport ...... bore .20 so it would actually be like 316 cc. and it does have reverse!!
id love to see that pole hold up where i live when it snows over 2 feet of wet snow ..... i made one only its all steel and i use a 2500lbs winch to lift it .. may need to make a video of it
We all have our Demons, Dude ......I am satisfied with it. Only have probably $100 in it and it has already moved 25 inches this year!! been using it for 3 years with only minor repairs. I am going to go through it and re-mount it with shafts back to the swing arm to put the push at the wheels, and that will also lower it at the plow so it doesn't trip so easy, and will raise higher and more level. LOVE the plastic moldboard!!!! Makes it soooooooo much lighter!!
At first I thought it was it was a cobbled together piece of junk. But I'm actually impressed! It's lightweight and effective. Just what a sport quad needs. Didn't think the conduit would be strong enough. But it's something that anyone could bend with minimal expense. The winch is interesting. I think a $49 harbor freight unit would be easier, but the drill is creative no less. Good job!
I'm suprized how well the 2x4 pushes the snow, but you wouldnt be able to the drill etc in a 4x4 with all the gears for the front wheels, the 2x4 has lots of space for it, I was curious how good the drill would lift the plow with a little bit of wet snow on it but it did pretty good, nice how you built it from the lightest possible materials with the plastic and the aluminum pipes. Great job, especially showing yourself plow with it,its one thing to make it but seeing it work makes it believing
i just finished making a plow for my raptor 660, but the only problem is lifting it up and down and seems that a rope wont do the job.....so i was wondering if anyone would no of a way to make a winch like this but a lot more easier????please reply
Rebel I have a 1986 Honda 4trax 125 cc fab a plow for and it works great wet snow no matter put chains on it and a 5 gal bucket on rear filled with sand for weight
I like it! Love the wind deflectors too. We ride back roads around here and those things make a big difference when it's cold and your moving faster than 30 or 40 mph. I might have to make a few sets for my other ATV's. Thanks for the idea!
hey i had an idea... for a cheap cable get a red cable dog lead. you can get then at walmart. they are just a thin wrapped cable covered in plastic. the rope is going to fray being in the snow.

does anyone know if a 125cc 2X4 would have enough power to plow maybe 8" or so?
REBEL2250 3 years ago
if it is light and fluffy then yes if its wet then you run the chance of messing something up or waisting money
