  • I thought I heard this song on the simpons show one night .

  • i love singing this song! i know every line

  • LESLEY GORE ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO DOES CLOUDY WITH A CHANCE OF MEATBALLS!!!!!!!!

  • lesley gore rocks this catchy tune my students love this song at P.S. 16 in williamsburg

  • @goforbroke64 Lesley recorded this song in 1963 for her 2nd Mercury album, LESLEY GORE SINGS OF MIXED-UP HEARTS. She recorded a "jazzy" version of this song in 1965 for the movie SKI PARTY, however, the original 1963 version was used for the movie. Marvin Hamslich wrote this song. It was nominated for a grammy award in 1965, however, Lesley did not win.

  • Love this song. It's my favorite Lesley Gore song. :)

  • Thumbs up if Eddsworld brought u here

  • oh, i would just get my point across to her that crimes against nature is not a good choice of lifestyle. thanks for playin!

  • Love this song it's soo happy

  • @HauntedFrancisco ~ She actually waited a long time before coming out of the closet. I saw Leslie, at the end of 2004, at the Pepper Mill in Mesquite, Nevada and she was finally talking very openly about being a lesbian.

  • She was short and had a big head so this hair does look good on her, the flip do looks better on a slimmer face, the short poufy hair looked great on her.

  • Tord hates this song :P

  • Sunshine lolipops, rainbows evry where

  • Great song by Lesley, written by Marvin Hamslich.

  • beehive is the hair syte she worn in this video,,who remembers that doo back in the day??? brings back the simple days of innocents,,,

  • @09bnunez Yes, Lesley switched to this hairstyle in mid-1965. Prior to the switch, she had the "flip" style.

  • I love you more today than yesterday...

  • I absolutely all these old songs and the movies that were on tv during these years.

  • exelent song

  • Regarding double-tracking because the voice was thin, well, that's believed for years until a friend who went to Sarah Lawrence told me her voice was tremendously powerful, they just chose to record her that way. Which indeed turned out to be the case. If you've ever seen in her person she has a big, big voice.

  • @waynebrasler You are correct, sir. I would urge all Gore fans to get, i.e., purchase for your own collection, the DVD called "The T.A.M.I. Show". It's circa 1965. Besides having James Brown, The Rolling Stones, Beach Boys, The Supremes, Smokey Robinson and the Miracles, Chuck Berry, and Marvin Gaye (breathe) Leslie Gore does 4 songs. That's more than anybody except James Brown and the Beach Boys! She does a powerhouse, soul-style rendition of "You Don't Own Me". Total power.

  • Too bad she's DC

  • @prunga308 isn't it great that she's DC?

  • @lasktguy Yeah Leslie Gore is all about nothing but love. Leave her alone. She gave us some of the best songs of all time.

  • @jedwing I have no idea what you're talking about. I think she's great. The only post I see of mine is the one saying she was lipsynching. That's no big deal. Unless there's another one I don't know what the problem is.

  • @lasktguy I meant to reply to prunga. I agree with you. That's what my comment referred. We both agree that she rocks. Have a good one.

  • @jedwing oh okay. No hard feelings. Yes, Leslie is the best.

  • i love the 50s

  • What show was this from?

  • some people have one track mines, but anyways you can interpret the song anyone u like,, personally i thinks its a veryyyy nice song, so there, from an elvis fan

  • Pretty sure she's miming. xD

    Thanks for uploading, great song!

  • @Telos41 oh yeah, this is obviously lipsynching. No mike in front of her and I doubt with her walking down that ramp they had a boom mike above her.

  • @Telos41

This is lip sync, because the recording has double tracked herself - like she did for most of her recordings I think (her voice was kind of thin).

Anyway when I was 12 I thought I wanted to marry, Lesley Gore one day. That was never going to happen - for a lot of reasons

  • @BrianGValentine

    mostly, because she's a lesbian <3

  • @HauntedFrancisco

only because she didn't meet me.... i woulda straightened her lil pooter right up:)

  • @cakraft24 right, you just keep believing that.

  • Everytime I hear it I think of when it falls down the goodies from the sky from the film Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

  • I'm surprised this wasn't a rick roll. I kept waiting to hear "never gonna give you up" but was glad that it never came :)

  • woo take it off!

  • she would have been only 19 here

  • Why sit here and think how hateful and evil everyone is today? when you could be out spreading joy and happiness, and when they're confused why you are so happy smile harder! ^^

  • sometimes it kinda makes me tear up about how weve gotin more cruel in this world then before and where words used to be happy and bright are now replaced by hate.

  • wtf she is singing about gay people

  • Very good question Jmurphy! A+++ Things were so innocent back then.. What the Hell happened to us? Jmurphy,! It would take me about 30 minutes and more than 1000 + characters to try to answer your question! Thanks for posting this great music! I was about 7 years old when this song was popular. I had my very own AM radio back then. My sister put pink fingernail polish on the AM radio's dial so I would not forget the location of the local popular AM radio station that I listen to. HA! Ha!

  • Teri Garr - 2nd dancer from left. Workin' it!

  • daaang... i wish i could dance like that...

  • I remember seeing that clip when it originally aired on tv in the middle sixties. I was about 2 years old!

  • :)

  • what with the background dancers they look like they are standing on fire

  • what is that about 1963?

  • Wow........I've always been a rocker for the most part, and the music that really got me excited started to be recorded in the '70s, because I play guitar, and if you really like guitar epics, then you have to check out songs recorded in the '70s.This is a good song. I can't believe how the girls on stage are moving. It's like they're taking pep pills, which was the street name for amphetamines when this song was recorded, and pep pills were very popular at the time this vid was recorded.

  • i died from listening

  • "Those were innocent days" Ah, I hate to break the news to my fellow Baby Boomers, but statements like those aren't true! We had the Vietnam war, race riots, hippies, rampant drug usage, out-of-wedlock births, kids overdosing on drugs, rapists & child molesters on the loose, divorce rate climbing, the constant threat of the Soviet Union, etc, etc. LET'S GET REAL FOLKS!!!

  • i love to do da cha cha.

  • so many fine qualities to her voice!

  • XD it said lesley gore so i thought this was like a screamo cover epic fail

  • Wish i everything was still like that^^^^^

  • gud mic spam :D thumbs if you agree

  • I luv this song!!!!!!!

  • i found this song out from edds world

  • Thumbs up if you're here because of Eddsworld

  • I agree with jmurphy914. What the hell DID happen?!!

  • .-. wonder what happen to her if she ever came to my house and ii'm full of guns :P i even have an desert eagle rare thigns to found O.o jk jk but i wish i do i shoot her :D

  • Epic Car Chase Soundtrack.

  • they couldnt even stretch this one to two minutes!

  • pretty loud voice - or is it just playback? ;)

  • IS IT ME OR IS THIS SONG SO CATCHY

  • This is the cutest video......My babe always sends me Sunshine , Lollipops and Rainbows.......The Lollipops I love so much.

But I love him more than anything in this whole world.......He is the best.

  • Things were so innocent back then.. What the Hell happened to us?

  • @jmurphy914 Stupidity increases proportionally with the size of government.

  • @jmurphy914 Puberty and the internet.

  • @jmurphy914 The birth control pill gave birth to the sexual revolution.... technology makes change, even social change, accelerate.

  • @jmurphy914 3 WORDS: SEX, DRUGS, ROCK 'N' ROLL :D

  • @afrykabarbie

sounds like u fucking proud of it -_-..?

  • @afrykabarbie and not necessarily in that order...

  • @jmurphy914 Things were so behind closed doors back then. People were the same, but nobody talked about it. Just smile and talk about the weather.

  • @Intrexa oh yah, i agree, i just made a comment similar too yours in fact!! :D i said that we weren't innocent, we just faked it good!

  • @jmurphy914 Nixon ;p

  • @jmurphy914 we weren't innocent, we just faked it good.... :D

  • @jmurphy914 eh, innocent on the surface. scratch it a little and it's not so different from today, maybe even more intense, at least we know when someone is totally messed up instead of just turning a blind eye. as far as music goes, though, i wish today's had the same taste as it did back then :\

  • @LuvMadonna626 You've gotta be kidding me, "not so different from today."???? No comparison to the explicit garbage of today and the subtle, feel good, mildly suggestive stuff like sunshine pop.

  • @seekermike007 again, it's about taste. there are pop songs that aren't explicit, they just lack taste.

  • @jmurphy914 HAHAH! Innocent? Okay then.

  • @jmurphy914 porn

  • @jmurphy914 hahaha if this song was made now, the background dancers would probably be strippers pole dancing xD

  • @jmurphy914 The internet happened.

  • @jmurphy914 Hell happened to us...exactly! Those of us who remember innocence though, or know it, can still strive to get things back good!

  • @SKOTP69 Sorry guy, don't know if you're a baby boomer like some i believe who are sadly missing this gentle type pop culture of the early and mid sixties, but gotta tell ya, it aint NEVER coming back. Hold fast to the good memories, things will continue to get worse in the culture and society AND songs. Lesley's style aint never coming back. You'll see more cr*p like L. Gaga and her meat dress and simulated fornication.......

  • @jmurphy914 I remember this song very well but I was under 10 at the time and my babysitter dressed and sort of looked like the young Ms. Gore when my parents went out for an evening. I remember a bit later her starting to have a boyfriend come around who reeked of alcohol. Just about the time she was enraptured with a new song by the Doors called "Light My Fire". Personalities change over time. Grin.

  • Great to have good memories.

  • @jmurphy914 I blame mtv..

  • @jmurphy914 I want to just go back. I want to stay there. I can't stand what we've devolved into! At the very least, I can come home from work, slip into my easy chair, my YOUTUBE, a Jack and Coke and head back for an hour, or two. Unfortunately, my wife calls me back to reality at about 7:30 just like Mom used to call us home just when we were having a good time in the neighborhood.

  • @jmurphy914 it just seems like it, things were just as bad if not worse, they just didn't bring it up as often in the media

  • @jmurphy914

I hear you Jmurph. Know what else is missing in Today's Music? Joy. Think about it....

  • @jmurphy914 * you are right .... ( sight )... *

  • @jmurphy914 i'll tell you what. Just as we loved some aspects of the culture; innocence in innocuous, feel good songs like this, a culture of liberalism in politics and social mores gained control and reflects what we have today. They call it "progress." The wonderful love songs of the early Beatles 60's gave way to thier psychedelic drug crazed post guru songs and so on. Also a welfare culture sprung up. These are just some hard explanations to your lament.

  • @jmurphy914

Let the Finance guys take over your great country of America and ruin a great Nation. Thats what happened, sadly.

  • true,a real gem,thanks SixtiesPopGold1 and Leslie

  • Never seen this great clip of Lesley before. Thanks for posting

  • Thanks for posting this gem of Lesley!
