  • no soldier fights 4 his country there is no such thing as a selfles act theres no such thing as society no soldier is responsible for the safety of the citizens

  • you all chose to go to war no one forced u u were big enough to make that decision. on your own and your big enough to take the concequences of your grown up decisions

  • the man talks of mental illness. the mental illness is from those who created the war it just spread to those who participated in it.

  • I was in both wars, no one gives a fuck about me.....never have never will........Andy you say soldiers? Who had the biggest casualties of the Falklands by far? get you're facts correct.

  • Andy left men behind, nice one mate !

  • "Bravo Two Zero" the lie of my life by Andy McNab...

  • @TeamElbeHeli Your right there, McNab is a full blown twat. He's full of himself and a cocky cunt, he was known to be a big head and a Walter Mitty. He's a lying fucker who tried to save his own skin, him and Ryan are a disgrace to the regiment. And before any of you twats start mouthing off I had a close family member with 9 years service at the time they were serving. Anyone who served know what they are, fucking media darlings.

  • The statistics that guy gave us dont tell us anything. Actually his comparison was quite stupid. He didnt compare the suicide prevalence among veterans with the suicide prevalence among the general population. And I suspect he avoided that for a reason. If I had been in that audience I would have felt outright bullshitted.

  • @Skandalos Veterans are at about 3x the normal rate, if you were still wondering.

  • What about Northern Ireland ? we served there as well !!!!!!

  • @1234mikeylad Its our own country so does not really count

  • @arkangel8419 what can be done? what do you expect a doctor to do, other than give you pills, what's the miracle cure? I never saw my TRIM bloke in theatre because what's the point, if you have a loads of traumatic sights on ops what the fuck can he do, it's just arse covering for political reasons, if you want to stop suicides give ressetlement training to everyone, TA and reg, regardless of how long served, and not just vocational.

  • Why are you sad cunts discussing war porn authors anyway, I was hoping to read something about combat stress.

  • @dinger8961 I always thought you have to do selection twice if you wish to join 22 SAS from the TA SAS. And you need to join the regular paras so you have a unit to be RTU'd to if you fail the second time?

  • People are only too quick to remember that Andy Mcnabs book was one of the very first Regiment memoirs written and was not only subjected to the MoD censors but also his publisher who famously told him it will never sell unless he dramatises it significantly.

Micheal Asher did well in clearing Vinces' name but there was just no need for him to lie about everything else. He was not subjected to the same military and publishing constraints as McNab and Ryan, just a loony left brainwasher.

  • Micheal Asher is a left wing pro-Arab lobbyist who has embarrased himself with his personal slant on the Bravo two Zero mission. He has demonstrated absolutely no proof of his claims in either the book or the spin-off TV series. He is one of the middle class privilaged civillian TA who creep in the back door of The Regiment without passing selection. They are never really accepted into the ranks, especially the ones who have never even see active service.

He has however, made a lot of money.

  • @dinger8916

Yep, the best book ive read about war was Excursion to Hell written buy a junior rank, for the junior ranks!

That Asher is a pompus prat!

  • ive got ashers book and ive got seven troop, asher seems to have a lot of proof backing up his findings. yet we only go on what mc nab says from his point of view, tho i do think andy is an awesome writer-and helping ptsd cause is great, but only he knows what happened in iraq really

  • Read 'SOLDIER 5' by Mike Coburn, he had to fight the MoD for the right to tell his story of the B2O mission, so he'd less likely to go through all that to be bulshitting, unlike McNab and Ryan. also his events are more realistic and pragmatic and not the hollywood blockbuster those two would have you believe. Even in Ashers later book, he tells of the B20 mission again...from Coburns perspective and not that of his own book despite going to Iraq and interviewing many people. So.....

  • Liam Fox is saying he wants retailer so tban Black OpsCall of Duty, LMAO how very sad. Censorship at it's most new world order level - a poxy game on a console, pathetic

How about banning corrupt and dodgy politicians that screw this countrys people over?

  • Andys bollocks are made of PURE titanium.

  • The name "Steven Billy Mitchell" doesn't sell books. Andy Mcnab does!

  • with all the advances in modern warfare over the last 20 years, nothing has really been done to conteract the effects of battlefield stress especially guys that have been in close quarters battle.......comming home and having a phsychiatrist talk to u for 5 min and prescribe xanax is not a solution to the problem. in over half the cases i have seen the xanax or klodopin just make matters worse

  • Steve Mitchell (aka andy mcnab) was the reason for the death of 3 solidiers in the B2O mission, and then they gave him a fucking medal?

  • @OliviaandAbbie shut your mouth, it was not his fault. B2O where givin the wrong codes and equiment it wasn't his fault at all -also buy CHRIS RYAN the one that got away, to find out the RIGHT info

  • @12345654321234567891 Also by Micheal Asher The real Bravo Two Zero,

Also by Peter Ratclife (RSM of 22 SAS) The eye of the storm.

    More truth!

  • @OliviaandAbbie he wasnt responsible, the equipment given to them was broken, the radios didnt work.

  • @y05cahillj But he blatently broke lost comms proceedure which is written and filed before any outing! Also If he had headed south, the TACBE's would have worked due to the volume of coalition fast air!

  • @OliviaandAbbie So you were there? You say Andy's reactions and desicions? Are you a trained special forces soldier? FACT. McNab was promoted to a sergeant in the regiment. That doesn't happed in you are a nugget or aren't switched on. Plain and simple. The other blokes wouldn't have went along with him otherwise. So are we to believe that Ryan was the only able soldier there and the other 7 SAS troopers were idiots?

  • @OliviaandAbbie Oh how long I've wanted to scream that name from rooftops!

just hadn't the bottle 'cos of my past. Thank you!!!!!

  • what is seen on ops never leaves frm the simple little thing of a young childs smile to the decapitated body of a yonug woman. these imagins are burnt into ya skull .... and will never leave help is needed......

  • As if the Tories give a toss. What a joke..

  • At least they are doing something even just listening which is a damn sight more than Blair and Brown have ever done, they despise the armed forces.

  • They are listening now because they want to get into government. I served in the Army when the Tories were in power, and they are all the same.

  • So was i , options for change and all that the differenc now is that we are at war and this goverment are actually cutting resources to the armed forces, like trying to get rid of the TA who have supplied regular units and seved as thier own units at war and have performed admirably and this goverment seem intent on getting rid of the gurkha regiments who uniquely in the british army do not have a retention problem

  • this is proof that depression is real, these are tough guys, friggen SAS! These are the guys that can be tortured for days and probably still run all the way back to base, the biggest challenges are from within.

  • Read 'Seven Troop'. McNab freely admits that elements of the BTZ book were fabricated. And why wouldn't they be? But to believe Asher you'd have to be a moron.

  • @sentient7of9 I just finished 7 troop yesterday. What parts did he state were fabricated. I don't mean to cause flair but i'd like it pointed out if i missed something while enjoying the tales of 7 troop. As i say, this is not an argumental post.

  • @Jammsbro1 dont worry mate, he doesnt "freely admit" they were fabricated, but you should read a book called "the real bravo two zero" by Michael Asher, might put a different spin on it for you, with that in mind seven troop is an amazing book.

  • @sentient7of9 Where in seven troop did he "freely admit" to fabrication?

  • This is an excellent initiative. But it will equate to nothing, the shadow Defence Minister is not good enough. His occupation prior, is that of the NHS. Therefore; he should stick to that.

  • I think the army need to help soldiers recover. It must be gut wrenching with all they see.

  • My opinion: Andy McNab is a former professional liar! Read

"Real Bravo Two Zero: The Truth Behind "Bravo Two Zero"" by Michael Asher

  • It'a not about that my friend, the issue is that many of our armed forces aren't getting the help and support needed after leaving the army and during active service. Read Eye of the Storm by Peter Radcliffe.

  • tsfortna, it was written by some one who was not there at the time, even though he was sas and an expert, he was not there. You can not reinact the three days and come to a conclusion that differs from what was said.

Truth is no but no one will no what was said at Hereford post the release other than those involved.

Read seven troop, mcnab paints a different picture of his 2nd in command, It is very easy to be misinterpreted when writing a book or writing comments.

    We all make mistakes!

  • you're a stupid bastard! bravo two zero, theo ne that got away werent proffessional detailed accounts of what actually happened on the mission (cause they'd be jailed for exposing a secret mission) so obviously they had to lie about certain facts and the 2 books were accounts of their own personal acounts and wat effects the mission had on their lifes. plus u would rather beleive a liar than 2 war vetrans.

  • plus michael ashner was a little prick who asked iraqi's (who obviously would lie about what happened plus ashner was watched by iraqi special police) is a traitor to this country. if u were an sas soldier who went on a TOP SECRET misson and you wrote a book then u would have to either exagarate the truth or change it in order to avoid jail. chris ryan wrote the book only to show how war effected his marriage and mcnab wrote about how he watched his friends die and how it scared him for life

  • Read it again, then realise how this author had the wool pulled over his eyes. And you too, it seems.

bonjour , save our soldiers, bring them home ! They know as do a growing public that we should not be in Afghanistan killing innocent people who do not want their country occupied by the British and other forces.

Give peace a chance and save our soldiers lives !

  • Few things make me more angry or baffled than the way our armed forces are treated by the Government. Their complacency beggars belief when the only reason the Prime Minister and the rest of them have the freedom to attend their meetings, their constituencies, walk the dog etc is because these people are brave enough to risk death, horrific injuries and mental illness to protect us all.

  • Cut a few public services and give them troops what they deserve!!! Proper weapons, protection and care when they get out. Defence should have a larger stake in the budget 10-15%.

  • A life lost in war, either during combat itself or due to contributing factors is always one to many.

There should be a serious respect for our men and women service the armed forces as they continue to show that despite a lack of real support more of our people will always come home. What has always saddened me has been how no one ever makes sure that people are ready for combat. It just isn't really talked about enough that we loose more to post-combat stress than anything else combined.

  • No one has ever won in Afghanistan. Politicians should read history books before committing our forces. Obama will soon wise up and prepare to leave. We should make our preparations to leave as soon as possible and before more of our soldiers are killed or mentally scarred.

  • Correct, no one HAS ever won in Afghanistan. Doesn't mean they won't this time, this time its a battle of hearts and minds, we will win that battle and therefore the war.

  • @simse01

    @botin054

'No one has ever won in Afghanistan'

'Correct, no one HAS ever won in Afghanistan.'

    Wrong.

  • Get this stuff out for all to see - as an ex soldier these high stats come as a surprise. This is a matter of concern and must be brought to the attention of the general public - who are the democracy that sends our men to war and whose votes change governments and the minds of politicians. Do it now.

  • Its painful just to listen to these reports, its was all new to me. My farther never spoke about the real hand to hand fighting he had participated in Burma, for which he was awarded the MC, but in those days you had to just grin and bear it. He'd have been disgusted at the treatment of our forces both in theatre and on the (lack of) support for them on return to civy life.Defence of the realm is a governments number one priority, and if that is not what this is all about, why are we there?

  • This is so sad. We are also loosing many of our next generation. Speaking to some of them at crufts many were prepared to say they were frightened of what could happen.

Get them out NOW and give them the help they deserve.

Life is so short when it comes to it.

  • The British Government have always treated our armed forces with contempt, however even Mr Cameron will not give a straight answer to a straight question. When he gets in power, WILL he improve medical facilities for our returning troops WILL he give our troops the gear they need. Easy to say 'You will do this and that' etc when in opposition but once the election is won ...

  • As an RAF medic in the 50's what a disasterious situation of the lack of service hospitals there was never this appalling of taking ones life .There was uderstanding and care in post traumatic stress syndrom with specialist treatment of injuries another goverment. error . If continual war zones are defended give at lease give those that give a military staffed hospital and the finest of post care.

  • what does this tell you about war, and a useless war at that, men commit suicide in utter despair, deep down they are not comfortable killing others, so get out of afghanistan, it is unwinnable, our young men are not fodder

  • its ganna take a long time before the goverment help with things like post traumatic stress syndrom etc if even at all. it just too expensive for them. which is bullshit.

  • It's good to see Politics involved in the stuff that matter. Further the knowledge. Be good at what you do, and don't take on all issues.

  • More people should see this video. The casualties of war don't stop with the out break of peace.
