It's easy to see why Aragorn would have such a deep love for Arwen. The love seems tainted, however. The guilt of knowing she's going to die early because of her love for him would be a bit much to bear. He knows he's the one though. So, what's one to do except grin and bear it.
I think that's why he lays it down so brutally in the book when he told her that if she were to cleave to him, she must forsake both the 'shadow (Sauron) and the twilight (the Elves)'. When I first read that, it seemed like a very harsh scene, but you're right, he wanted her to make a completely informed decision to unite with him.

This is such a beautiful vid. I love Within Temptation songs and LOTR--obsessed is actually much more accurate than love--and this video is an amazing combination of the two of them. Good song, too. It goes really well with the vid. I honestly hope you make more videos; if they're anything like this, then they're bound to be wonderful! 5 stars (and that isn't enough for this vid, believe me!) and I'm just yakking on, so I'll just stop and say again that I love this video!
