  • stopped watching the video once I saw he used a "string winder"

  • is the 90 degrees bend really necessary?

  • Brians a Geordie like me XD

  • Brian Johnson?!

  • Damn good thing i have the same exact guitar haha

  • @pbguitars since ur using the pacifica i thought i'd ask.. i'm gonna be buying the pacifica 112j... is it a good guitar for the money?? i am a beginners

  • I've got a little question about the electric guitar and its strings. In what way are they different from acoustic/western guitar strings? As in 'is there something about them that allows you to bend them without snapping them, or to perform vibratoes without damaging the coil?'

  • @DrsJacksonn the bass strings of an acoustic guitar mostly have a winding of bronze which is a pretty rigid material.. while the bass strings of an electric guitar are wound with steel which is relatively less rigid material.. the treble strings of both types of guitar are made of steel

  • @1011sid 'rigid' as in 'more resistant to wearing off' or as in 'harder to bend/vibrate'?

And if I may ask, are electric guitar strings somehow easier to bend without snapping them? Or is that just because they're generally thinner?

  • @DrsJacksonn well acoustic strings are rigid i.e. harder to bend while steel being relatively less rigid and are easier to bend.. as far as wearing off goes... bronze gets rusted pretty easily as compared to steel in a humid climate so electric guitar strings tend to last longer... electric guitar strings are easier to bend as they are thinner as well as less rigid... :-)

  • @1011sid Ah, now that explains something.

  • @DrsJacksonn ur welcome

  • better than expert village

  • I wish I would have watched the video before I broke the only 10 string I had.

Now I have two 13's for my E and B strings.

  • thanks man. it realy helped

  • omg i'm using a pacifica too lol >:]

  • this video is definitely the best one because he shows you exactly how much slack to leave rather than estimating and having too little or too much

  • why does everyone change the low E string ??

why not high E ? its the one that snaps most of the time...

  • @dunavidrava You do it pretty much the same way, this is just easier to see on video =)

  • @ExclusivelyMAT owh.. yea.. good one.. haven't though about how good will you see it on the video xD

  • @dunavidrava

    it's FUCKIN annoying...

  • Can you post a video showing how to change a string if you have locking heads? I have the kind with the one-hole post and the big flat knob on the back.

  • Thankyou! this helped so much, It took me nearly all day, broke 2 strings, got one ball of a string stuck in the back of the guitar, Raised my bridge super high, almost breaking my entire guitar altogether, but I fucking did it GodDamit! haha

  • you are awesome. now i can change my own guitar strings

  • Is the peg winder durable? Cause I had a cheap from guitar center and it messed up the first time I used it now it doesn't spin

  • @valdivia562 buy jim dunlop ones.. they're good

  • @1011sid im getting the planet waves one with the string cutter

  • @valdivia562 i have no idea about those

  • @1011sid im not sure if youtube lets me post a link but put this : 'Planet Waves Pro-Winder String Winder/Cutter" on google images im sure you will find it

  • @valdivia562 it seems good.. but i really dont know if the material that they've used is good enough.. so jim dunlop is the only one i can personally vouch for.. the rest is upto you

  • @valdivia562 on second thought don't buy the planet waves... you'll have trouble winding the strings quickly with a blade on the other end.. go to a store and try winding strings with the dunlop and the planet waves and see which one is more comfortable

  • @1011sid yeah i guess ill try it later, i was going to get the dunlop one before i bought the GC winder but they didnt have any

  • The lowest string on my guitar only went around the peg/nut once before I ran out of slack on the strings and it became really tight... is this bad?

  • amazing vid man thanks it was lots of help

  • yo dude we got same guitar

  • Thank you so much!

  • Very Good!

  • thank you very very much you saved my guitar's life! now i can finally play aqain thank you!

  • very clear! excelent job dude!

  • great!

  • Thank you a million! This helped me understand how the "knot" is done.

And surprisingly, my Fender Stratocaster is EXACTLY 1/1 clone of your Yamaha, even the color! :)

  • HELP I have it made exactly as in the video but the high e string I already ripped 2 times I've played in a C tuning, which is indeed the high e string down to d and then is pulled me at the mecheniken What is going on ????? can anyone help me ?????

  • @Sgtpepperlulz im a lot better than how i was ^^ still not extremely good or anything, but im getting there. my strings have been breaking quite a bit lately though, so ill just replace all of them for new ones, see what that does

  • this is a really helpful video. it has made it easier for me as we have similar guitars (YAMAHA ERG 121) and i didnt want putting a screwdriver to it before confirming it had to be done. so thank you very much

  • oh my god changing strings is so frustrating...

  • Thank you! It looks like something easy and well known, but it isn't.

  • thanks dude you are the best :)

  • Good work sir, thanks!

  • i wish every video is as good as this one. Very good work and recording as well!! claps!

  • this is by far the best video. You made everything clear and the knot idea is genius, and i like how you did a close up. Great job

  • awesome, thanks!

  • thanks for the video. just broke my string, and i have same guitar so makes it that little bit easier :D

  • Hi, is this method the same for the strings High E to G ? If yes, How do you measure the very first tuning peg ? And for the tree on the head stock, we just have to ensure the string is underneath it right ? Thanks so much if you can reply asap. It's gonna be my first time !

  • @themoyadude Your a fucking dumb ass cunt ! im 14 and i can follow the instructions you queer and it worked for me so go fucking ram your guitar up your ass and leave this guy alone you retarded dumb fuck !

  • your the stupidest man.. you broke my new strings now i have to wait more time.. this is the shittiest shit in the world..it doesnt even work..

  • @themoyadude

Don't blame him because you're too fucking stupid to follow directions properly. If you're that incompetent then take your guitar to a music store and pay someone $10 to put them on. What an idiot.

  • great video, helped me very much, now i can play again :)

  • amazing vid! best vid on how to re string 5/5!

  • Thanks for the vid. How do you wind the string around without leaving a bubble between the string and the tuning post? I have a hard time manipulating that low E string. Thanks.

  • what would you do for a klondike bar

  • thanks!

  • Best vid on string changing I've seen. Thanks!

  • Thank You!

  • yeap! this method is exactly what im looking for, nice and clear instructions good job!

  • wasted 2 guitar stringsa on this shit....gaaaaaay

  • @greenieoz

Too bad you're so inept. I've used this method for years without issue.

  • best video iv seen on this, thanks!

  • very well done

  • i'll try this, thanks

  • i want change my strings on my Start, now i have 0.9 fender strings, a lot of people say that the ernie ball are the best. i want play hard rock, what kind of string i need? the 0.9 or the 0.10 or the 0.11 ?

  • @Burnroses the gauge depends on what tuning will you use.if you wanna tune it down than the thicker gauge the better.if you play in standard tuning than the 9s would do it.

  • Thanks! Finally I've learnt how to change strings correctly.

  • Oh thanks man,I have to change the first string,I didnt know how to change the string, thank you a lot

  • @sergioice23 If you changed the same string that's actually the sixth.

  • thanks thanks thanks dude THANKS!!!!!

  • 5/5 this is the best video i've found so far

  • Easily one of the best stringing videos out there.

  • Thnks dude I hate when my strings break and I usually goto my guitar teacher and have him fix em but now I think I can do it

  • Comment removed

  • Five star! Love this video!

  • Why does my guitar only have 2 springs on the back of the guitar? Instead of 3

  • @thepastrami24 it depends on how manny pickups you have and what kind. some guitars have a different headstock than others and it may need more tension than other guitars.

  • @ThePastrami24 Because of variation in design. Duh.

  • thx

  • thank you dude. every other video doesn't show you how to do it clearly but you couldnt have made it clearer

  • I swear the man talking is Lemmy

  • But that was 20 minutes ago! I GOT IT, BABY!!! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

  • im terribly bad putting strings goddammit

  • im terribly bad putting strings lol

  • good video man....cheers...

  • never get outa tune??? thats bull crap... but thanks for the help

  • @trampboarder2

i quote here what he stated in his vid:

"[...]effectively createing a knot, which means when you tune up your string, it will never go out of tune[...]".

He did not promised that the guitar will not go out tune ever. Just when you putting on the strings.

    I'm just sayin'.

  • To "not get how people do not know how to change strings" is such a typical comment here. For new players it isn't about remove old, replace with new by reversing, it is about the WINDINGS, getting them right as in leaving slack, continual tension as you tighten. Did YOU know this just "magically?" What, from the womb you knew? lol.. I think not....A very good video, close up and easy to see what to do.

  • it was a bit confusing but still very good! thank you! 5 stars

  • thanks very helpful vid

  • i dont get how people do not know how to change strings.1 loosten string and pull it out the back of the guitar 2 do the opposite to but the new ones in

  • which strings are better : wound and nickel?

  • Wound are much better

  • Ok, am... how? I mean for any kind of songs?

  • yea basically but wound strings are usually for acoustic which im guessing is what u want tthem for. wound enhances the guitar's resonance so itll sound pretty good a set of a gauge o 0.10 would be good

  • OooK, Thanks.

I was searching for that point. XD

  • very good visual description on a "how to" video. lots of heavy breathing too.

  • most HELPFUL video

    thanks a lot!!!!!

  • very helpful

    thx

  • Without a doubt, most helpful video.

  • he failed like 18 times trying to get it in lol

  • there is no sense to cut the string or remove the tremologuard.... =S

  • well it depends, on mine there's an opening. but some guitars there is none so taking it off is necessary

  • The other day my music teacher gave me a new string and said put it on and i told her that id do it at home and i looked here thanks dude you friking rock!

  • the best video of how to change an electric guitar string, 5 points :)

    now i can start ^^

  • i have seen many vids on changing strings since the string WONT come out of tune ill try your way

  • best vid on changing guitar strings :)

  • Thanks man for the video.. Very helpful! Now i learned the right way.. xD

  • Agree it's good instruction, but at the vital moment, the film is cut at 3.15 and jumps from looking like something I get (a bit messy) only tried once, to a very nice snug winding round the post.?

Am I not holding the pressure correctly or something?

  • short, sweet & to the point thanks

  • im new to guitars im goignto try your way tomorrow if it helps which wat i hear it should il leave a good comment

  • cool

  • The String Wont Come Out of the Tremblo thing at the back its just in there ive tried poking it throught but that wont work

  • What about guitars that have the tuning posts split in half, with evens on one side and odds on the other (as in not all in a row like this vid)? How do you measure it then? I have a Schecter Tempest Custom and haven't changed the strings because I'm not sure the correct way to do it...

  • go to a local guitar shop and tell them to change them while u see them changing them so u can larn

  • kinky huh??? haha jk thanks man i knew that i was doing something wrong

  • great video!

  • WOW! Thats the way all instructionals should be!! Great Job!

  • Thank you so much

  • everyone else paying attention? THAT is how you do an instructional video - thank you!!!!!

  • Agreed. No nonsense or babbling, straight to how to get the job done.

  • great job the video and audio quality was great. i finally can change my strings all on my own

  • Thanks! Filming it from as up close as you did was very helpful :)

  • this is probably the best video ive seen about string renewal on YouTube. It is very helpful and looks very easy and fast to do. Thank you so much!

  • This video is the best I've seen on YouTube for restringing guitars. I just restrung my electric and it worked pretty much flawlessly.

    Thanks for the help.

  • very good video. It's the only one that didn't confuse the hell out of me and its very descriptive. It also looks very neat on the tuning post. Thanks for making this vid.

  • thanks man this really helped me out

  • looks very pro. wish i watched this vid before i tried to restring my guitar for the first time...

  • Thanks for this vid I've ruined 1 string already but your 90degree method was perfect and the knot was brilliant. Thanks again!

  • i ended up just changing all of them =P it was easier than i thought it would be lol, ty for he help

  • sweet nice vid, i broke my high E and im gonna try and restring it tomarrow for the first time, ill let ya know how it goes =D

  • tried some other videos

, but this just owned :P

  • flawless demonstration

    best vid on youtube

thank you so much, very professional!!!

  • Thanks for taking the time to leave a positive comment.

  • Thanks for the help man. You helped me out alot. Thanks =)

  • BRILLIANT!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried other methods which didnt kink the string 90 degrees and lined the peg stringht with the neck and the bloody string kept moving about in the peg and not locking in place neatly.

with your "knot" method it should solve my problem.

I have ruined 5 little e strings (thinest) trying to change it. I am a beginner and found it tough to do right.

  • nice nice!!

the guys who sell me the strings were kinda inventing how to put on the strings!! this vid the best!! xD

  • This video saved me.

  • There's alot of "how to replace string" videos on youtube and they all confused me or weren't clear enough. This was excellent and very easy to follow, I did it first time, no problem with this video. Thanks!

  • very nice.. thanks

  • thanks for leaving a comment

  • man your video saved me!!!!thank you!!!

  • Hey man, excellent vid, I never use to do it right, this helped a lot.
