I've been a huge fan and unrelenting follower of A.R. Rahman for years now. But...
This tune sounds like Parabol by Tool. (the slow version in the music video) I'm not sure if it was unintentional and I've been comparing the two songs since last night, but I cannot deny the obvious when I lay both tracks next to each other.
Nonetheless, Rahmanji is one person who wouldn't intentionally copy someone. So let's pass this off as coincidence.
@virajvkc dude it doesnt not sound like Parabola. It sounds more like Dave Matthews's # 27 and very faintly "Wish you very here". It is just the same notes rearranged.
@ojit1979 Yea. It sound like a mixture of a number of different songs. Though I'm referring to Parabol, not Parabola. That's the slow version of the song and a different track on the album.
Though the resemblance to #27 is uncanny too. Maybe we can actually pass this off as a coincidence.
If some one same chord dfntly it will sound same ...its not copy....nd who doesnot copy .....we r using mobile that is the copy of western culture, maximum we r doing now a days...copy of western culture....so dont say crap that its the copy song....1st u make ths kind music ....
ar rahman composed this song similar to WHITESNAKE:-'TIL THE END OF TIME' white snake band released the song in 2008. so ar rahman copied this song or inspired.ar rahman composed Aaromale little bit slower.
how is it that just just 125 thousand people have seen this and only 31 likes...these kind of songs need to be taken global...only then you will have millions lestening on youtube...brilliant singing..and brilliant music by rahman..
What a song!!!!!! the song grows on you and swallows you whole. WOW. But floyd????? where did you get that. Being a floyd man I do not see the connect
u shud really listen to wish u were here..this is no where close to it..if you have to find a similarity why didn't anyone come up with Dead or Alive? Jovi
@nithinmicheal- hey dude...i am a floydian too but i was not offended by this...its just an inspiration thats it....great work ARR...remember you are foul mouthing a person of the calibre of ARR..he is one of the best any where in the world...
people listen to the above given song....... and decide the rest..... the above given has the song composed by dave matthews, in the year 30 aug 2007.....
hei...its pink floyd na? anyway...good job a. r. rahman...onlly you can make this kind of music in tamil industry...hats off to gautham...n also to simbu... but why trisha? she acted good in this movie but...i wish she can open her mouth n deliver her dialogue comfortably.....
@nithinmicheal - hey chill down dude.. what's wrong with you.. how do you get offended if his music is inspired by PF's.. It's okay.. no need to loose control..
Being an Indian, mind your words about a person like A.R.R in such public portals like youtube.. God bless you! don't know what caused you to feel so bad about it..!
@nithinmicheal - wo..wo.. dude.. are you okay? why are so upset and angry?.. it's ok dude.. like you are behaving like you got offended personally as A.R.R copied your own composition!?! it's OKAY.. nothing wrong in getting inspired.. chill down..
Just make sure you don't use such cheap words in this public forums.. it will just show that you are not even qualified to admire good music and it's elegance..
Finally a globally accepted malayalam song....after AVIAL.....that too from the meastro...gouthsm says there was no plot in the begining but rahman made him listen to this song and goutham liked it...rahman then called a malayalam music director alphonse who sang this song....and ya WHAT A MOVIE....
A.R Rehman proved it again! malayalee musicians who complained that malayalam words are mostly 3 syllables or more which makes them difficult to come up with good compositions for malayalam lyrics, unlike tamil will keep their mouth shut after listening to this song. Rehman proved them wrong by composing a malayalam song and made Alphonse sung the song who is a music director himself in Malayalam. Kudos Rehman! I never thought Alphonse can sing this way either.
@nithinmicheal boss, chill down. ya it's an inspiration from Pink Floyd's WYWH, to be precise the lead guitar loop running throughout the song, but that's it. The rest of the song is totally different. Being a fan of both ARR and PF's songs I can say there have been many oriental influences in Western music too, but all that goes unnoticed. And please remember MR. Rahman has risen to a worldwide stature not by lifting tunes but by composing them. I wonder if you know anything about him. Peace.
