  • You know . . . does Wilber ever wonder about what the overall effect of what he says might actually be?

I was taught (and still believe, I guess?) . . . that telling the Truth is NOT telling the Truth . . . if Truth doesn't result.

Wilber often talks the Truth . . . but if people are not hearing it the way that he's meaning it . . . good things may not result. Indeed, just the opposite.

Now, tell me . . . how likely is it that people are really getting what Wilber is meaning?

  • I tried teaching Integral theory in the Current Trends and Issues in Psychology in Trinity Univedrsity of Asia in the Philippines 2 years ago. I bet no school teaches this in my country. The class had little entry competencies for this topic, so I admit I was not very successful. My students might be surprised that this paradigm might just be the most significant agent for spiritual, psychological, sociocultural, and political develeopments to happen in the whole world in this century.

  • anybody know ho one can work for the integral institute ?? ? If yes, what kind of people does the institute need?

  • Screw that predictive text.......once more with feeling........complete and utter pish!

  • Utter Pishpek

  • What he says makes much sense. However he lost me once he got into the "vertical" explanation with reference to colors?

  • Vertical is refering to development "up the ladder" so to speak. The colours are taken from something called "spiral dynamics" (partly by Don Beck)... really good stuff, you'd wanna check it out :)

  • April and November 2004 saw some of the heaviest bombardments of the war in Iraq, including the controversial use of white phosphorous by the USA.

Hikmat Tawfeeq, deputy chairman of the Fallujah-based human rights group Alakhiyar said: "We have around 200 cases of deformities recorded by our society. Most of these cases are birth deformities which have arisen after the bombing of Fallujah."

  • The number of countries that the United States has a presence in is staggering. According the U.S. Department of States list of Independent States in the World, there are 192 countries in the world and the United States has troops in 135 of theses countries. This means that the United States has troops in 70 percent of the worlds countries. The average American could probably not locate half of these 135 countries on a map. A global presence unlike that of any other country in history

  • I think you've put your finger on the heart of the problem: Must well meaning Americans have no idea what their gov't is up to in much of the world - so someone like Saddam is SUPPORTED for many years and most Americans don't know, and then wheeled out and labelled "bad guy - go kill". Wilber DOES have his big intellect, and yet is knowledge of recent history is as bad as the mass of ordinary Amdericans

  • poor america.. so much greed, anger and stupidity.135 countries. 476,039 soldiers abroad. Over 46,000 veteran suicides and 5,000+ combat troops dead during the War of Terror. Do you see some thing wrong with the picture?? You cannot solve a problem from the frame of mind that created the problem.. American foreign policy creates disharmony and mistrust.. it must be willing to evolve consciously.. wilber is clearly not qualified to speak on such matters

  • I just watched this again and I'm aghast at his ignorance of history. Hi casual assumption of western superiority compared to the other "civilisations". I wonder if he even realises that the major cause of Iranian resentment against the west was the US's longterm support of Saddam Hussein! Particularly in Saddam's use of chemical weapons against Iran during the Iran Iraq war, the US ensured that the supplies of materials could come into Iraq from Germany.

  • The problem is not complex AT ALL. Without massive American aid (the US gives more to Israel than any other country), Israel would HAVE to make peace with the Palestianians, in their just struggle for their territorial rights

  • screw all those colors and integral bullshit, can't we all just get along?

  • unemployment in Ireland in the 70's, 80's, - 24%.

    unemployment in Ireland 2001 - 4%

Unemployment in Palestine currently - 24%.

    Lessening of conflict in Ireland-'90's.

  • Maybe instead of letting go and letting God; let go and let go of God.

  • fantastic, thanks bro :)

  • Politics is not his best side. He is better somwhat, in other regards.

  • Ken talking about politics again - oh noooo!

The Middle East? Fascist and torturing Apartheid-Freaks occupy and terrorize what they think are "subhumans" - where's the difficulty to understand that? It happened in Nazi Germany, it happened in South Africa, and similar things happened in India, the US, and so on...

And there is no "clash of civilisations", it's a clash of groups of different political interests. The civilisations don't care and have better things to do.

    Clinton = mass murderer

  • The clash of c.-s happens through manifestation of political systems: agendas of spreading and agendas of non-interference, of which the complexity has not been addressed by me or him. He does have some good points, but he has some bad points as well. He is not the only integral theorist, there are and were several now, such as Jean Gebser, Rudolf Steiner, who are and were more adept at applying integral theory in education, economy and politics, instead of heavy attetnion on spirituality.

  • Well, before one applies some theory to political circumstances one should know the basics about those political circumstances. He most obviously doesn't have basic knowledge about the situation. So he should simply shut up about it. It makes it doubtful whether he has anything to say at all. Because if a rocket scientists talks a lot about butterfly classification without knowing a thing about it you wonder whether he knows anything about rocket science...

  • He is being vague, and he knows it. However, he is only talking about politics. He is not a politician. However, he should, I'm sure you agree, apply the integral framework in politics more often. however, Steve McIntosh is already much more specific with applying integral theory in a petition for a form of world-governance that transcends and includes nation-states. Google: Steve McIntosh, and google also: A Declaration of the Value of Global Governance.

  • Where is your answer to my comment?

The one who doesn't have basic knowledge about something should talk about it more often?

    World government?

Oh my satan, what dangerously ridiculous thoughts!

  • NOT world government! Integral world governance of which you didn't search from google. I dont like your tone right now, though. To criticize Steve McIntosh's ideas, which I assume you are attempting, but are not attempting seriously, you'd have to know what Steve McIntosh is all about. Skim-reading isn't your style, I assume, especially my psot. I do agree about Ken Wilber. He is vague but you never said what he (Ken) said wrong... I'm not worshiping the gouy or anything.

  • Sorry for the spelling mistakes, I meant 'don't', and 'post'. The last one isn. 't mean't as a subliminal message, though. :) I don't like to get off on the wrong turf with anyone with these posts.

  • "And there is no "clash of civilisations", it's a clash of groups of different political interests. The civilisations don't care and have better things to do.

    Clinton = mass murderer"

"He is vague but you never said what he (Ken) said wrong... "

    This is SO over.

  • Okay, I'm sorry, this is really off topic, but I just noticed something.... Is it just me, or does Ken Wilber have VERY long arms?

  • Yeah, he's big in body, and huge in mind :-)

  • A few years ago, some of this rhetoric may have had a resonating effect within me. Now almost 100% of what I just heard seems nothing more than wind. And I like this man. His passion and participation are to be admired.

  • Have other people heard of the work of Marshall Rosenberg in the Middle East? It's not called "Integral", it's called NonViolent Communication and he seems to get results.

  • Sounds like a really BAD place for a Jewish guy to find himself. If I were him, I'd head out of the region pronto, and go someplace more hospitable, like NYC.

  • All very well but as Norman Finkelstein emphasises again and again it's not that complicated: israel must pull back to its pre1967 borders; the settlements must be stopped and ended, for example. And it's a hard but indisputable fact that the so-called 'suffering' is very much on the Palestinian side.

  • And Ken Wilber doesn't really discuss things on that level.

One statement he's made before that bothers me about his politics: in Grace & Grit, he compares the way a spouse should support his wife's choice of medical treatment the same way a citizen should support his country. Once they've decided to go to war, the time to discuss other options is over.

  • The issue of to apply Spiral Dynamics Integral in the Middle East continue.

Dr. Don Beck will visit Israel for the 4th time and more Israelis/Arabs/Palestinians are get opportunity to look into the conflict through the SDi lenses.

The plan is not just understand the deadlocks rather it is to create project from the 2nd tier understanding and bring natural design into the region.

  • woo hoo, only 55 views at this time. It's oddly good to be one of the first to stumble upon some new footage as it comes out. First time I have seen Ken Wilber. He's pretty good. Although his book the 'spectrum of consciousness' did my head in and was a very hard read, for me. But still very good.
