  • @ratmaslove This is one of the funniest things I have ever read.

  • YtimK FTW.

  • If you know the true meaning of raising an upside down American flag then you wouldn't correlate it with the bassist.

  • Lol. The bassist is white and ratm is pushing an upside down American flag! That's offensive!

  • i just saw tim and brad in the hotel were i work and they are a really good persons they dont have the fame in the head hail rage!!!!!

  • @spugvayne That's something I always liked about them, I don't agree with all the politics, but they're very outspoken while keeping humble, it's like they don't see themselves as rockstars but protesters.

  • when was this?

    1996

  • best fuking mesage ever.

  • @frost101992 fuck yeah!!

  • I volunteer at an organization that aids refugees and monitors the realization of their right in Finnish society. Listening to RATM always gives me strength to keep doing what I'm doing - especially now that a far-right political party ("True Finns") is gaining more and more momentum in this country.

  • @doesntmatter123 Is that becasue of increased immigration into Finland?

  • @bugstrut It's mainly due to a very effective campaign (by the party) of attributing pretty much all problems in Finnish society to immigrants and "lefties". The "True Finns" have also been very successful in evoking a strong nationalistic sentiment in a large portion of the Finnish population.

  • @doesntmatter123 Are there many immigrants in Finland? Where are they from?

  • @bugstrut About 4 % of the Finnish population consists of immigrants. Most of them come from neighboring countries (Russia, Sweden, Estonia), but lately we've been getting more immigrants from the Middle East and Africa, too. • That bass riff is one of the sickest by mr.Commerford. Humble bow.

  • Bass Riff kick ass

  • Best bass riff ever!!!

  • there so good live

  • I love their music, but wished they would be less anti-system. They should also go after some of the real oppressors of humanity such as Kim Jung Il, Omar Hasan Ahmad al-Bashir, Meles Zenawi, Idriss_Déby and the likes. These guys line people up and shoot them, Al Bashir regularly. Where's the songs on this? If you want change, it has to start with understanding facts and truths and then taking action, not watching videos and bashing other countries.Nothing get's accomplished when that happens.

  • Even today, as we speak, people are dying and being brutally raped in Africa and working in sweatshops and many places all over the world. I wonder how many viewers of these videos have really done anything to help stop it. It's cool to watch music that is pro revolutionary and anti system since it is macho. This band actually cares about some good issues and donates money to support them.

  • As much as I love this performance I think the one they did at Woodstock 99 was more powerful and spiritual than this one at Tibet concert... Just my 2 cents...

  • how this became a total politcal argument and country bashing really amazes me

  • I love when people from historically aggressive countries criticize the US. There are many great places, but none are perfect. The US expands it's influence, but then all countries do or would if they could, it's human nature. Every nation in the past conquered as soon as it obtained military strength: England, France, Spain, Germany, Japan. The US has had the force to plant flags in many places since WWII but did not so there is some restraint.

  • i love how you defend the US on a RATM song. "There'll be no shelter here".

  • @loko5555 Yes, it's true, some people need to look at reality and history. So many other countries raped and pillaged the world long before the US ever came to power (or was even a country). Not many songs from various bands about that since it's not as interesting since it's not timely. The US isn't perfect, but it isn't all bad either. Even if the government was evil and tried to rule the world, it reacts too slowly to do it anyway (Not too efficient like most govt.'s).

  • @mxpmw it looks slow, thats why is effective. Of course people only mutter about timely things, are you against that? should we act like roman empire is in europe or the ussr still in russia? i dont think so.

  • @loko5555 The problem is, other countries are going "slow" as well, doing their thing. If you are concerned about human rights abuse, political power games, destruction of the environment without care, new world order alliances or such things, there are are other countries to look at. You can start with China (love the people and culture , dislike the govt). There are others of course, large and microcosms. They are looking out for their interest also, at a cost. Sing about those too.

  • @mxpmw cold war: two empires, after 1989 one only. Im sorry but we all know is the truth nobody watch chinese movies.

  • @loko5555 I am much more concerned about atrocity and abuse of people than how many empires there are. I am also concerned more about who is in charge of the empire. If North Korea, Iran or Sudan had the power the US had, you and I would be dead and not chatting on you tube. Where there are people, there will always be corruption, misuse of power on some level etc. This is human nature. Every empire has had it, without exception. If you want this to stop, get rid of humans.....

  • @mxpmw i have to say i agree in many points of what you say. But you miss me at one point: if US empire controls the freedom why i cant think what i want? isnt that freedom? and if i think that Iran is not a threat for democratics countries and i may think that my country have an even better democracy than USA (my country is uruguay, far far away from iran, .

  • @mxpmw i mean check it out in google is almost a european country, we even have our independence thanks to the english lord Ponsonby) if i think this way thats cuz i have the freedom to think that way. Maby i belive more in freedom than you, i dont know you tell me

  • @loko5555 i feel so free that i think i dont need to get rid of humans to reach perfection. Perfection is imposible thats alright, but when your taking that ride is when you advance. If you think this is the better we can get you are like some romans (my ancesters btw) who made the same mistake, cuz i think we should agree that the world is a better place now than what is was then, that roman individual was wrong as you are, thats why i think cuz im free.

  • @loko5555 and pay attention that in my bad english im saying that US empire is better than the roman empire were (you said something like that in other comment) but as you see the past when you think you should make the same about future, logic tells me that an even better empire will rise someday, and eventually not empire at all if we dont need it. Who know when, could be now that US i making wars to maintain the empire.

  • @loko5555 I have many friends/colleges from there (I always wanted to see Uruguay). The US and it's allies can only try and maintain a certain level of freedom (Japan and the rest of Asia does not speak North Korean), but it cannot guarantee all levels of freedom, no how much military power it has. The first is cost in dollars and blood, Americans wouldn't support an all out free countries of the world campaign. The second is no one country can guarantee total freedom.

  • @loko5555 Freedom comes from the people, normally in the form of revolution (This is one of RATM's main points.) FOLLOWED by an organized political structure supported by a belief system. The problem I have is RATM only sings about the first part, the negative sides of government and revolution, not the follow up of organizing a government based off a belief system (like the US did in 1776). This part is uninteresting and doesn't sell records, but it is the most important part of true freedom.

  • @mxpmw well i disagree. RATM main point is to use their freedom to develop their point of view. Anyway that we all have diferents point of views is a big part of freedom also the points we can share part of the democracy. I just think that Iran or North Corea are not a real threat for our days democracy, in fact this countries are used by the true danger for freedom, an universal standart of reality. Thats my opinion anyway.

  • @loko5555 You are right, everyone is entitled to their own opinions which is the great benefit of freedom. The point about those countries is that IF they had the power of larger countries like the US, Russia or China, they would not be responsible and use it to begin taking over. Maybe not your country, but NK would definitely plant flags all over Asia, Iran all over the Middle East.

  • @loko5555 Add a radical in and there go's South America. They are only a few of many countries that could not handle that sort of power. As far as RATM, many people just like the music, which is great and that's cool, I do too. But people try and pretend to understand the complex world of politics and take are pro-revolution. I would love to see these people standing there after the revolution is over looking at each other going "Now What". What follows is much harder than revolution.

  • @mxpmw anyway if someone needs to pass over freedom to protect it then something is wrong. If people think there could be a better world in their free choice they should have a democratic representation for that, so then they wont have to look it outside democracy. You`r free when you have options, if there is only one reality alowed then it is totalitarism, no diferent than ussr was.

  • @loko5555 I don't know what is being passed over, but no country or system is perfect. The last I checked we all have options of some kind. If you don't believe me, fly to South Korea and rent a car. Drive one hour North and stop. Get out and walk through the fence (Be careful of the land mines). Find the nearest North Korean policemen and tell them you would like to be a citizen. After that you will have no more options. It's not so bad in the free world, even if it isn't perfect.

  • @mxpmw well how bad is the system depends on the situiation of the individual, like for example some people will read your comment and think "right, i cant pay my son education and i would travle to Korea and rent a car". Again in my opinion our gold should be perfection, even if it is imposible is the way to do it, like our ancesters in some time were dreaming about some civil rights we have today, some people would said in those days "thats imposible, your dreaming".

  • @loko5555 My point about North Korea is they are totally not free and have zero options. It's very bad there, we have it much better, even though out world isn't perfect. I agree, we should always try for perfection though, that is a good point. Again, my criticism is many bloggers don't look at the good, only the bad, and they take no action to try and improve the world, only watch anti society music videos and criticize everything. The other problem I have is people don't think critically

  • @loko5555 People don't ask What Where, When, Why How? They follow everyone else's criticisms or come up with unsupported beliefs. People generalize too much and say, Americans are this way, Chinese are that way (People and govt). Sometimes the generalizations can be true, but normally not, the situation is too complex. People from different backgrounds tend to have different beliefs: rich vs poor vs middle class, rural vs city, north vs south etc.. This variation exists in every country.

  • @mxpmw really good observations, yet i think ratm pretend to do a solid critic, trying to prove their points as much as they can.North Corea is another thing, people there dont have the freedom to make points, less to prove them.Anyway venezuela is an example of a country ruled by communism over democracy now thats complex.

  • Looks like it is posible, even in venezuela that i tell you every possible thing about chavez is said, and eventually this is better for him, making reality even more complex.Left wings are winning in S.A but their all respect democracy, at least for now.

  • @loko5555 I agree, I have friends from Venezuela and know a fellow American that lived there 5 years, it's a nice place with complex politics as you say unfortunately, most love their country but not Chavez. Hopefully there will be change someday. We have many Venezuelans living in the US.

  • @mxpmw im not against chavez, in fact for now i support him, but first i support democracy, so if he cross the line i stop the support. I do the same with my goverment.

  • @loko5555 Many Venezuelans think he is out of control. The gap between rich and poor is very large, and corruption is huge. He wants foreign companies to hand over technology to them. Many companies including Toyota are seriously considering pulling out. If this happens, the country may fall to ruins, which is sad. I have never seen a country that is harder to ship into or out of. I know a few Venezuelans living there that are trying to get a job outside the country to get out.

  • @mxpmw @mxpmw you know i think communist can lie just like anti-communist. But they both have point of views that i like to respect. So as i said, while venezuela is in democracy, that means anti-chavez can be against him, i will support him not for that, but for the ideas i share.

  • @loko5555 Yet democracy always come first, i mean ratm and all the left ideas depends on freedom to develop, why they should not respect the same freedom that made them born? to me is like their killing their mother. Lenin might had come to power in another scenario, but chavez would not be the president if it wasnt for democracy.

  • @loko5555 about the getting in/out that you said, usa dont let people travel to cuba for example, michael moore is in a trial for that. One cant say that usa is not a democracy for that, cuz the citizens from usa are the ones who decided the rules, and if that is one of them well is their choice.

  • @loko5555 Freedom is a relative term. What is free to one, is not free to another. This depends on perspective, which is developed different ways. I think there is basic common sense freedom (trial by jury, freedom of press and to be safe from the govt. etc) and there are some that are not so clear. Democracy does not mean total unlimited freedom. There must be rules. Is a country not free because there are traffic lights? I am not free to drive through the red light and kill someone.

  • @mxpmw your right

  • @mxpmw there isn't any freedom in America. Freedom dies when you start debating about 'what it means' then you end up with what we have in this place today: mass surveillance, the biggest jail population in the world, etc. Freedom isn't a loaded concept at all. It is very simple. You can do what you want. End of story.

  • @subsamadhi If you can do what you want, then you are not free. Other people will rob/kill you without recourse, so you will be scared to go out. Banks will take your money without recourse, people will be afraid to spend money = collapse of the world economy. In the end, there is no such thing as TOTAL freedom, this can't happen. Societies need to set basic rules that are reasonable and live by them. Honestly, I live in the US and I have all the freedom I could want.

  • @mxpmw that's an interesting assertion: if you can do what you want then you are not free. That sounds like freedom to me. I say we take that quote and write a new version of 1984 by George Orwell that includes that quote.

  • @subsamadhi The bottom line is if everyone can do anything they want, there are negative repercussions that will affect the freedom of others. If you are free to smoke anywhere you want, and someone else hates smoke, they are not free to go anywhere they want if they do not want to be bothered by smoke. The smoker and the non smoker cannot be free to visit the same establishment at the same time. This concept can be taken to many situations. There is no such thing as 100% freedom.

  • @mxpmw freedom is very simple. When you start debating what it "means" is when you end up with the Orwellian nightmare in which we currently live. Keep telling yourself that it isn't.

  • @subsamadhi The fact remains: Everyone can not be free at the same time for all issues. if you are free from paying taxes, you are not free to drive on good roads, if you are free from not being able to litter, you are not free from garbage, if you are free from having to go to school, you are not free from stupidity....

In summary, there need to be rules or guidelines that benefit the majority of the people, not everyone get what they want. This was the foundation of Democracy.

  • @mxpmw again, keep telling yourself that you are free: ignorance is strength. Freedom is slavery. I don't know about you but the system we live in scares the shit out of me.

  • @subsamadhi As a matter of fact you just my supported my point: There can never be true freedom, we must give up something, we are not totally free and never will be. This is the philosophical side. In reality, we are free from many bad things thanks to giving up some freedoms. Humans living together is a complex challenge, and therefore with any system to govern humans, the good should outweigh the bad. If you want to live totally free, you will need to move to an island.

  • @mxpmw that was sarcasm, buddy. Obviously you haven't ever read 1984 by George Orwell. You can sure bet that the people who are in charge of America today have read that shit and use its tenets in their decision making.

  • @subsamadhi The Democrats and Republicans don't agree on much, so I doubt they make many decisions collectively that easy, that is why the decision making process is slow. It's good and bad.

  • @subsamadhi I have been to many countries and i have friends or know people from many places, and there is no perfect place. It is our role as citizens to do our best to voice our opinions and take action when necessary (provide money to organizations you support, volunteer, etc.) to make the country and the world a better place. Criticizing other countries doesn't make change.

  • @subsamadhi Continued: Of course not everyone is asa free as I am in the US. I came from a decent (middle) background, live in the suburbs, have a nice house and car, travel well, and really fully enjoy life. I have had friends from the inner city, and's not as nice. They are constrained due to their environment, just like the poor are in most countries. You can argue about socioeconomics etc., but no country can guarantee freedom.

  • @subsamadhi Continued 2 (sorry), I don't know why the US is held to ridiculous standard since it is the birthplace of modern democracy It is a country like all the rest and struggles with issues like all the rest. I have traveled extensively, and no country is perfect. The US is a good place to live overall. You don't see massive emigration rates. In the end, you have to ask yourself "Am I happy where I am". if not, either try and improve it or leave.

  • @mxpmw of course all the countries are dealing with the same issues. Thats no reason to think "all right is all good", that wasnt the way our ancesters gived to us what we have, the way to think was (and will always be in our evolution) "we are doing what we can, now lets push a little harder". Try and catch is the only way to the future.

  • @loko5555 now when a powerfull country like usa says: "all right all done, lets sit back" will born another danger much worst than the reality, cuz will be a fiction danger. At the end it looks like: they have many inside problems and their invading countries. Or worst: their consuming the hole world while their sit back meaning you like to drive your car, is part of your freedom, but you need the oil

  • BTW you are welcome to my country, you said before you always wanted to see Uruguay. If you come some day i recommend the cost, amazing views and good food.

  • @loko5555 Of course there is room for improvement. All countries can improve. The US constantly challenges itself to be better. There are always great debates and arguments as to what is best for the country, so say the country sits back is a great mistake. This arguing is one the reason it's hard to make change. As far as consumption, China is passing the US in consumption and their lack of care for the environment and human labor is the reason they make things cheaper than other countries

  • @loko5555 One way to make an impact on the environment and improve labor is to stop buying so many goods from countries that do not take an action to improve the environment or use child labor. Of course most people in any country are not willing to pay more for standing by their belief (I do and spend more to buy products from more responsible countries). One day these countries may improve, but there is no better way to send a message than lost business.

  • @mxpmw Come on dont use the old cold war thing. China is worng in many ways, worst than USA, but thats not what were talking about here. You dont have children working, and you have some social rights for your workers that chinesse can ever dream of. But as far as contamination concern, USA is the worst, more than china (UN stadistics), yet your message to the world is "do not make contamination"

  • but i dont know, sounds more like "keep your watter levels, cuz L.V is consuming a hole lake, and we will need yours in the future". If US keep that behavior we cant except much from the future. I agree that if more people would by their products in therms of their beliefs the world would be better, yet the system cant handle that, and as you said before freedom needs rules.

  • @loko5555 I have managed/visited plans in the US and have spent a lot of time in plants in China, there is a huge difference in the amount of regulations in the US. The US is very litigious, which is bad because it drives the cost of everything up, but it also ensures better adherence regulations. Of course it isn't perfect, but there are a lot of rules. the biggest problem is the number of autos which drives waste.

  • @loko5555China is passing the US in # autos. The waste will only increase. Child labor is common there. It is a nice country with nice people, but the govt suppresses rights directly (internet is filtered by the govt directly). My main point is, before people criticize the US, they should start with start with China, Iran, North Korea, Zimbabwe etc.

  • @mxpmw China,Iran,North Korea, Urugay, etc. every goverment should be criticize to improve it. In this case RATM are guys from L.A so... and i think China and others not democratic countries are a step behind cuz they dont alow critics. Not alowing critics with time result in a country not having the control needed by humans, that would be a usseles country.

  • @loko5555 Please note that Iran, like Uruguay the US or Venezuela are all democratic countries, folowing the steps that UN requires to be a democratic country. China, Cuba, Noth Korea, etc are dictatorships.

  • @loko5555 I agree, it's good that countries can be criticized, that in itself is very positive. This can eventually cause change, as long as it is followed up with action, otherwise it's just useless complaining. I have friends that used to live in Iran and have family their now. It is democratic to some extent on paper, but essentially acts as a dictatorship. It's not uncommon for the military to arrive and shut down protests that are against the governing group.

  • @loko5555 It's our way or the highway in Iran for the most part. There is a lot of extremism. Many people are battling though and working hard for positive change. Hopefully it will come one day. There are worst places......

  • @mxpmw some people say the same about usa thats why i trust the UN, we all know anyway that there are better democracies than others but the thing is to have regular elections or not. I mean england for example is questioned alot for their elections methods, that doesnt mean is the same that china, in fact the difference is huge, the same with iran.

  • i agree this shit we call america is corupted

  • @whoareyou231 China was never in the cold war. I travel there regularly for work and they have a huge amount of room for improvement with regard to the environment, they are much worse than the US or anywhere else. No filters on plant exhaust, direct flow of waste into rivers and lakes etc.. There are so many environmental regulations in the US, it is expensive to produce anything (EPA/other agencies).

  • @mxpmw the UN says in contamination issues USA is leading, China comes second, Russia third, Germany and etc. Now child work, USA is ok we all know that.

There are other issues in USA but as you said every country has problems, i happen to think that we will all resolve this issues some day, step by step.

  • @loko5555 The UN is not the only source of data, and as an agency, they are impotent and unorganized, ask the people of Darfur as well as Sierra Leone. Brazil was ranked first by study performed at University of Adelaides Environment Institute. They also ranked countries according to a proportional environmental index and found the worst to be Singapore, Korea, Qatar, Kuwait, Japan, Thailand, Bahrain, Malaysia, Philippines and Netherlands.

  • @loko5555 I have seen many studies performed by universities and agencies, and the results are always mixed. My point is, there are many other offenders, why single out the US? The rainforest deforestation in South America will affect all countries of the world, why is this not a key topic, only Americans drive a lot of cars. My point is, China is outselling cars than the US, and is completely destroying the environment with the "business success at any cost directive", why not go after them?

  • @loko5555 There are many other countries that need dramatic improvement in environmental that need criticized, not just the US. Of course the US is a huge consumer of fuel, but the high gas prices is change peoples attitudes. Necessity is the mother of all invention, and the US is dealing with the fuel cost like the other countries did, be being moire conservative and creating more efficient vehicles. I have worked with many Europeans, some that understand this and some that don't.

  • @loko5555 I have seen some criticize Americans for driving big cars, only to move to the US for work (expat) and then buy a Hummer or suburban (VERY large vehicles)! In summary, we need to ALL make the work just a better place. If the US became "perfect" and had low pollution and a perfect Democracy, there would be plenty of other countries to criticize......

  • @mxpmw like awlawys happens with this debate i agree in everything you said except one thing: you cant compare the UN with other organizations cuz the UN is international law, even tho they have no army is the only international public law font (the few but important advances in the relationship between nations).

  • @loko5555 every naytion has to solve their on issues, we all know china is a horrible country (not the people i mean the goverment) but if they dont asume their issues they will pay someday. Everything has a price in this life.

  • "we need to ALL make the world just a better place" ill stick with that quote,

    agree 100%.

  • @loko5555 You are right, the UN is more difficult to operate than a government since it is made of so many different groups. i still wish they would improve their capability. It was shameful that a hired military from South Africa made up of a thousand soldiers from different places were more effective than 10,000 UN troops. It scared the world how effective they were at getting the bad guys that they banned the use of hired troops.

  • @loko5555 I agree with each country needs to do their best to solve their own problems as much as possible, and that we can all make it a better place. It's nice to see people like you are passionate about making a difference as well.

  • @whoareyou231 Sorry, I replied to the wrong person!
