  • how tha f**k did I get to aljezira?... wtf

  • what hapond in sabra and shatila was wrong... so is being a shiha

  • Also, “supported in Israel”? Check your frickin’ facts. This thing was ripped apart in their media. They think it’s “Anti-Israeli” because it doesn’t show previous attacks on Israel that were also used as a pretense for this war.

  • What the fuck is wrong with Israeli politicians? Are they fucking retarded? They justify wars that killed tens of thousands of people with rocket attacks on them which (combined) didn’t even kill one thousand people in total? And they are covering up genocide? THEY of all the people on earth? They must have went insane.

  • When will a Palestinian movie released which shows the horror of war and questions the own point of view and perception of right and wrong in that conflict? I guess we still have to wait some time...

  • Gee, i am surprised that people dont know where to find this film. i saw it so long ago on Netflix, in NY. this is not such an alternative film at all - vs many other films that i watched. What do people watch then? pure holllywood craps? When i was in Israel, pretty much every Israeli i met saw this film, almost every Israeli loved and was moved by it - many tough-looking guys were brought down into tears by this film...

  • Ktaeb rememered more than Jumayil. Dmour massacre of Christians and much more elsewhere.

  • Compassionate?!?

Dude in the movie IDF soldiers slaughter innocents, and let many more die in front of their eyes.

It certainly shows the IDF soldiers are human, and are good people, but it definitely doesn't show the IDF itself as compassionate. The movie is very anti-war.

  • they dont "slaughter" any one the thing is they basecly didnt do much to stop the christians from killing it has to do wit politics not evil

  • No they murder Palestinians alright. They don't kill them at Sabra and Shatila obviously (though they may as well have), but throughout the movie, it makes a point to show Israeli grunts gunning downing civilians.

And obviously they didn't do it because they were "evil" (it shows the IDF troops as sympathetic. and the Falangists had their reasons); there aren't many genocides carried out just because someone wanted to be evil. But politics is about as poor an excuse for mass murder as sport.

  • i agreed with your first comment to xshevax. but not with this one. the movie does not say in anyway that the idf commits genocide. there is no genocide going on here. there is a difference between killings during a war and genocide.

  • @IneptTroopr its not the idf who slaughter the innocents its the lebanon cristian, but the israeli goverment is not stopping them thats whats happaning.

  • @davidds0 Uh, there's at least one scene in the movie where the Israelis murder innocent Lebanese. And in regards to the Sabra massacres, yes I'm well aware it was the Lebanese Falangist fanatics that carried out the actual killings, but they were protecting around the perimeter by the IDF, who were fully aware, and probably had early knowledge of the plan, and did nothing.

  • You can always better tell a story from one perspective anyway ...

  • the arab perspective of the story is simpele .

the evil israelis came and killed every one and then raped every one THE END

  • well if thats what your seeing in your town as a child, not minding politics at such a young age, then you might as well think that's all that was going on.

  • u missed the part where they attacked a new country from all sides. when it was formed

  • u mean that counter-offensive against the zionists for occupying Palestine ?! when they formed their country on massacres and bodies. Yea, i guess , they should have let them do that . FUKIN MORON! Poor little Israel, it shouldnt be attacked from all sides, it just innocently killing and raping people and drive them out of their land. I mean why would they attack it? those monsters. FUCKin brainwashed, extresmist loser

  • arabs persecuted jews for centuries across the islamic world. look up the word DHIMMI. Zionism is a rebellion against the Jewish destiny that had them languishing in ghettos and as cowards (like in america) as you would like. Palestine, or Israel, is the inevitable location for the Jewish nation to materialise as a state. so if you want to destroy us, come and get us, come fight us, like you have tried so many times before. and you will fail. no more jizya for you inbred savages THE END

  • i saw this film last night, after it finished every one was just frozen during the rolling of the credits so powerful, so profound and just leaves you a changed person

  • The Palestinians can show their own side.

Few years ago at Al-Najah University in the city of Nablus, the students put on a display entitled "The Sbarro Cafe Exhibition". The display, according to the Associated Press, included an exhibit with pizza slices and body parts strewn across the room. The walls were painted red to represent scattered blood.

  • sick!

  • Did the film also deal with the so called war of the camps in 1985, 1986 in which different sects of Muslims fought each other for control of the camps? The number of casualties in these battles for Sabra and Shatilla between Amal and Palestinians took the lives of over three and a half thousand people. This episode is still waiting for Arab film makers. But it wont happen because as Arabs (i.e the other) you have a free crad.

  • israel has to be tough. there isn't anyone who has their back. oh sure the U.S. supports them, but never with military only politcal. Israel faces a lot of trouble being surrounded by terrorist nations and having car bombs in their neighborhoods. I understand why they're tough. i would be in their place

  • The US gives Israel at least $3 billion a year. Germany gives several dozen million more. Israel practically doesn't even have to pay for its own military, where as the Palestinians are more or less isolated from the outside world. The dictators of Egypt, Jordan, the Gulf States, they couldn't give a shit about Palestine, because they're on the US's good side.

When it comes down to it, for the last couple decades, they've all been on the same side; the one that opposes Palestinian rights.

  • Well that's what happens when you elect a terrorist organization to run your country.

  • Not to disagree that Hamas is a terrorist organization, but with that logic you could easily argue the US, Israel, and a plethora of other country do the same thing year after year (electing politicians that promote violence against others) and therefore also deserve to be bombed and have tens of thousands of their civilians murdered.

  • I've seen it.

It's not about Sabra and Shatila - it's about memory, and how it can be repressed.

Which is why the comment by the Lebanese girl at the end, and why hateful comments by people here(most of which did not see the movie) are a bit out of whack...

I thought it was a great film - it doesn't point fingers - but in terms of context, it goes along the line with the Israeli historiography - Israel was a culprit to the massacres by standing there as the phalangists went on a rampage

  • Could you please tell me whats the name of the movie? And where can u see it? I would really appreciate it. Thanks

  • The name of the movie is Waltz with Bashir

It's been screened in Israel for several months now. It opens in the US near Christmas - I assume you're from Spain and will have to google to find out where it is showing and when...

  • I have seen it on Netflix a year ago... it is easy to find non-mainstream films there (although it is a mainstream film in Israel when i was there for 5 months)...

  • Phalangists were innocent?

    Palestinians were innocent?

    Why who kill Lebanese leader?

Why Israel there in first place?

Who is there now, and what is Lebanon?

  • n we wonder why we have terrorists now

  • That movie looks awesome, I'll have to see it.

  • What about liberty and freedom for the Palestinians?

    "Arabs attacking from all sides"?

Palestinians have been squeezed into a pathetically small concentration camp in Gaza. What else can they do but try to gain freedom?

If you were in that situation would you do anything else?

Give the Palestinians food, medicine, return their land, treat them as humans, then you'll see their desperate and pathetic attempts to fight back cease.

  • Please don't confuse Palestinians and Hamas, cause you see, in Palestine, Palestinians are Palestine's biggest threat, People on the Israeli side of the wall aren't building rockets in basement and firing at Gaza

  • great great i want to watch it!

  • War only provokes more war. Hate only provokes more hate. it is time we need to understand each other and what we need.

  • I wish more people thought like you.

  • dude, dont play victim here. JEWS are definitely the predator who has caused so much misery to palestinians. The fact is you are demolishing their house, harrasing them everyday, and stripping them their human rights to live FREE! and you still ask why would they want to kill you???? I would be happy to see you die too!

  • The Palestinians elected a terrorist organization as their government, the Palestinians stripped themselves of their rights not the Israeli's.

  • damn, there's only one copy of this film on ebay and its a press kit promo.

  • im buying this movie

  • go read Ilan Pappe : The ethnic cleansing of Plaestine.

    Allah Huakbar.

  • That's a very narrow minded view.

  • like fox, cnn, cbs, and all the other bullshit news agencies arent? pretty much every news agency is full of propoganda, but almost none as much as in America.

  • and by literal definition, so is your comment. The only difference is Al Jazeera is an actual credible and respected news source watched and read by people all around the world. You are an old woman hiding behind her computer.

  • And you're not!

  • no it is as fair as any news I'v not been allowed to see , until the inter web

  • the israeli government murders Palestinians every day ,,

  • Al modern news agencies are pretty much propaganda dumbass

  • Looks awesome, a scanner darkly meets sin city!

and its a war movie! =0

  • Jewish are victims? Forget Holocaust was 40 years ago. nothing to do now, i believe holocaust is propaganda. but the jewish are making victims, the palestinians...

  • I think Lebanon should answer with their own animated movie.

  • either way im not very optemistic about israel renouncing its terrorist methods to destablise the entire region, that would just be too good to be true.

  • I got to see this movie!

  • Is there a site that his can be watched on?

  • i dont know wether this film is trying to create sympathy for the soldiers or attempting to some how salvage something from this chaos that is the arab israeli conflict.

quite frankly i cant give an accurate critisim as i havent seen the film myself, however i do think that there is some sincerity in its content.

if reality dosnt make the young men of israel think, then perhaps the account of a former soldier who himself witnessed the horrors of sabra and shatila will.

  • Well its interesting to see good ol human nature at work... The Jewish Nation is not only a victim but a perpetrator of Holocaust.

  • all wars cause scars - some visible, some hidden. brutality is the common denominator. young men go to war with bravado and false courage only to return bitter or broken or both.

  • Now they should get an arab (Muslim) to make a film like this from their point of view, I'd like to see the difference

  • gotta c it!!

  • Shed some light.
