But the episode they took Picard from was from an episode where they couldn't do jack shit, a ship came from some thingy and popped up and flew right in collision course, and they couldn't do very much to move away because of the short time till collision.
So because of that it makes a very small "What if they fought" scene, since it was no fighting or anything similar to fighting in that scene.

there is no way one Constution class could smoke a Galaxy class starship and there are like 25 to 50 years worth of extra Tech on the Enterprise-D The very first thing To do before you open fire is try to Hail the Enemy Vessel or then go to yellow alert If no contact between the Vessel and you think there intenchions are hostile to the ship go to red alert when and if they fire at you first or they fire at you with out warning you are entitled to open fire with Phasers blazeing
And of course we are completely ignoring the fact that there is no way in hell a constitution class starship would ever beat the shit out of a galaxy class like this. But hey, it's still a pretty nice crossover.

The Enterprise D could not possibly be defeated by a constitution class starship.(ncc 1701) The incomprehensible error is ncc 1701's failure to attempt communication with a clearly federation marked vessel. That is protocall before opening fire!
Really unrealistic. The Enterprise D was nearly twice the size of the original Enterprise, and the Enterprise D had an extra 75 years of technology. And for the original Enterprise to escape unscathed is simply idiotic.
Very well-made, though from dodgy source materials. Or a dodgy transfer from a clean what-if. Entertaining, anyway. Check out the dramatic lighting on Kirk.
Although I personally prefer Kirk, Picard is a very different Captain. More believable? Possibly. More fun and engaging? Very, very rarely. But watchable and enjoyable for his own reasons.
I like all the Star Trek series (except Enterprise) but it's irrelevant that ol' Kirk can take out a Galaxy class ... I mean it's a wee difference in technology.
I like Picard more , because unlike Kirk , he doesen't use "Cowboy Diplomacy".

Good, clean fun that has done what it set out to do: get the Trekkie nerds engaged in a dull debate about which is the superior show. They both rocked! Comparing them on their respective technologies is like comparing H.G. Wells to Tad Williams. As far as I'm concerned, if it's a good story, it works.

here's what would really happen. the enterprise A would fire, NO EFFECT on the Ent Ds shields. the Ent D fires one time and the Ent A is completely disabled. second shot, well that would be unecessary.

Whoever made this brilliant editing piece, must have something against Picard... or it was just fun, very well made fun - but true, no way Kirk's Enterptise could have blasted Picard's into space...
It looks very professional, except for the blur...
But it still doesn't quite work, but only for the very antiquated uniform of the Kirk crew - we today are rather used to TNG's, so it looks a bit off..
But what a neat idea that!

well, the enterprise-d's systems went down. She was a defenseless piece of spacejunk as she appeared infront of kirks enterprise. It was like duckshooting. Before they got thier systems back up, thier engines got busted and thier power failed.
and, KIRK THE OWNS THIS OLD GUY LOL!
While picard does think about some dumb stategys, kirk gets laid. His ownage level is just so much higher.

Even if Picard and Kirk had equalivalant ships, Picard would defeat Kirk easily, no questions asked. I dcn't know why anyone would think other wise. Kirk is just a player out to make out with as many aliens as he can. Picard is actually a good military strategist.

Well made, but silly. As someone else said, it's like a biplane taking on a modern jet and winning. In equal ships, Kirk would probably win. I would have liked to see Kirk and Picard in a punch-up, personally. Making witty comments as they did.

Hardly. The Enterprise may have inferior technoligy but its all in who is commanding. Remember in Balance of Terror the Romulans nearly defeated Kirk with an old style nuke.

The Enterprise D could not possibly be defeated by a constitution class starship.(ncc 1701) The incomprehensible error is ncc 1701's failure to attempt communication with a clearly federation marked vessel. That is protocall before opening fire!

Really unrealistic. The Enterprise D was nearly twice the size of the original Enterprise, and the Enterprise D had an extra 75 years of technology. And for the original Enterprise to escape unscathed is simply idiotic.

Although I personally prefer Kirk, Picard is a very different Captain. More believable? Possibly. More fun and engaging? Very, very rarely. But watchable and enjoyable for his own reasons.

I like all the Star Trek series (except Enterprise) but it's irrelevant that ol' Kirk can take out a Galaxy class ... I mean it's a wee difference in technology.
I like Picard more , because unlike Kirk , he doesen't use "Cowboy Diplomacy".

Good, clean fun that has done what it set out to do: get the Trekkie nerds engaged in a dull debate about which is the superior show. They both rocked! Comparing them on their respective technologies is like comparing H.G. Wells to Tad Williams. As far as I'm concerned, if it's a good story, it works.
